Banning Hands free Devices - the evidence

So before You go bumping Your gums comparing Phone calls, while driving

With listening to Radio or chatting with other passengers etc etc

Here is the scientific research showing why -

Phone calls (handsfree or not) use Way more of the brain, than other tasks in Car

You want an example - try talking to your partner, while they are on the phone

What normally happens -

You get snapped at - they can ONLY concentrate on that phone call -

and YOU are their partner, the same happens while driving

Less so than indicators - maybe that’s why so many drivers don’t bother with those.

“Speaking from experience”, pretty much every morning!

There is a three lane roundabout just up the road from us on the A23 - As you come off the A23 the right hand lane is marked for a right turn, the middle lane to turn right or go straight ahead and the left hand lane to go straight on.

Most of the cars using the middle lane actually go straight on but a good few turn right, hardly any indicate one way or another.  This means that big queues build up on the road entering the roundabout from the opposite direction because there is no way of knowing which way the cars on the roundabout are going.

As for the Deno thread, it really is dead - apart from you, gogo_girl and myself nobody has posted on it for over two years!

The lack of interest in Deno is in marked contrast to the promises of support I was assured would continue when I was persuaded to take on his care over ten years ago.   It really is a shame but I guess it is easy to make promises but far more difficult to keep them.  Likewise with Posh who was taken on purely for Deno’s benefit.

Well, even if people are not posting, it was interesting to read and nice to see your pics. Please continue posting on there as I'm sure people enjoy reading even if they don't post?

Getting back to distractions while driving...... There's 8 buttons on my steering wheel, 6 buttons in the drivers door and as for the centre console..... I gave up counting when I got to 50!!! Yep, I said 50.

Buttons have got to be better than the touch screen in mine and as for ‘voice activation’ - if you think talking on a mobile is distracting then you want to try getting Radio 4 using voice commands!

I know I've already said this, but the World's gone mad. There's no need for all this "complication".

Gone are the days when you could fix a car with a pair of pliars, a screwdriver and an adjustable spanner. Now you need the right computer and a myriad of special sockets.

No you get snapped at because interrupting is rude, not a good analogy.
