If you look at bookfinder.com people are asking between £195 and £700 for copies depending on condition of the book and dust jacket.
People are asking higher prices for the signed limited edition.
Low hundreds should be achievable on Ebay you may get a bit more at a specialist book auction house, but then your likely pay slightly higher fees.
Personally I would go with a detailed Ebay auction with lots of pics and a high start price of the minimum I would accept.

thank you so much it has no dust jacket and not a signed copy so i would think low hundreds its in really good condition so ebay i think it will go have a guid new year helen

I have a large collection of knitting books by authors like Meg Swansen and Stephanie Pearl-McPhee, Debbie Bliss, Lousia Harding. There are about 30 in all, mostly in A1 condition. As I am moving house, I do not really want to photo and list each one, and they are too good for a charity shop. Any advice please?

If you search Ebay and use advanced search to see completed items you can check each book to see if any are worth making the effort to sell individually.
For the others the simplest option would be to do a job lot and get rid of them all in one go. Knitting books tend to be quite heavy so it may need to be collection only, unless your happy to package and possibly wait in for a courier.
I'd list under crafts - Knitting rather than books as your likely get a better price there.
A job lot won't get you as much as selling individually but a single transaction is a lot less hassle than 30.

Not sure if you will be able to help. I have in my possession a 3rd Edition Scott's Last Expedition Vol 1 + 2 and was wondering if it would be worth selling?
16-02-2012 12:20 PM
Certainly worth selling, a first edition set, in very good condition recently sold on Ebay for £199.
They are popular books, Personally I would pitch a similar condition 3rd edition set just below the £199 as a BIN, maybe £179.
Using bookfinder.com there are some sellers asking £200-400 for a third edition set, but I think there over egging it a bit.

I've just checked my records and I sold a slightly later set for £120 in 2010.
I can't remember exactly which edition it was but it was later than the third.

Thanks for that, Always worth getting an outside perspective first.

Hi there
I have a copy of prose poems and parodies by percy french, I think it is a sixth edition printed in 1946, there are 2 date stamps on 2 of the pages the type that libraries use, printed by talbot press dublin. the book has some discolouration and a little ragged round the edges but not too bad, I dont suppose you would know the value. Thanks Michael

I have just come across Ian Fleming On Her Magesty's Secret Service hardback 1963 by Jonathan Cape. Brown with artwork of a white/silver curved line. First published 1963. Copyright 1963 by Glidrose Productions Ltd. Underneath this the following paragraph is written:
"An edition of 250 numbered copies haseen printed on special paper, with afrontispiece portrait by Amherst Villiers, and signed by the author."
Would this be a first edition. No other details/numbers to indicate impressions?
Any idea of worth. I have been on ABE books, but couldnt find anything.

Aw again! I got all excited and then disappointment. Such a shame, I dont have that book. Mine's not signed. Its more like the £44.79 version. Well, perhaps there is a signed one lurking somewhere for me to find. Many thanks for the reply. My holiday is on hold, lol!

Disappointing but don't throw it away!
Assuming:
It States first published 1963 on the copyright page with no additional printings listed.
Then its a first edition/first printing and you should be able to get low hundreds for it (roughly £150-£200).
It would need its original dust jacket for that price, the dust jacket should be priced 16s net on the front flap.
