Is anyone else unhappy with eBay's new messaging system ???

I've been a member of eBay for 20 years now...

Over the years they have made many changes, some good and some not so good...

This one of completely revamping the messaging system is NOT GOOD !!! ... and it is now a challenge to read and reply to my important eBay messages 😞

Why on earth did eBay have ruin the reliable and easy to use messaging system which worked flawlessly since 1995 and was easy to use...

The new format/layout is now horrible and skimpy... Now you can't even see the whole of any message you receive or send, I have a big 19 inch laptop and eBay have now reduced the area where my messages display to that of an basic Smart Phone ! - I have all this space on my screen now WASTED ! whilst I struggle to read all my massages in a small window in the tiny bottom right corner ???

This is far from acceptable - I want the option to revert back to the old original messaging format PLEASE.  

The old and original eBay messaging system was MILES BETTER in all respects and should have NEVER BEEN CHANGED.

All you can do is to leave one star and explain your thoughts on this new messaging system.

I've been reporting it for 2 weeks now and it seems eBay are not taking any notice.

It is really awful and affecting my use/enjoyment of eBay now 😞

Unfortunately, it is the latest of these 'updated' pages to be foisted on us. One by one, all the Classic pages have been taken away, and replaced by these horrible, badly designed, 'new look' pages.

There have already been several threads about this over the past couple of weeks - I suppose we have now reached the point of having to resign ourselves to the fact that eBay will not reinstate the old layout, no matter how many complaints have been raised by those of us struggling to use this ghastly new system!

the messaging system stinks for sure, old messages which have nothing to do with the current queary show in it even though previous purches are finished with. utterly useless not to mention confusing. why fix something that isn't broken!!!

If ebay refuse to take any notice of us it maybe time to start email conversations outside of ebays messaging system!!!

Believe me the way things are now it would be a 100% improvement to have the luxury of PROPER EMAIL PAGE instead of this economy nonsense where we have to fight in one tiny corner to be able to read our messages !

 This clearly has not been well thought out properly.

The new layout seems like it can only have been designed for those using a mobile. It certainly doesn't work well for laptop users. Maybe eBay wants rid of us old fashioned types? 

For those of us that want to write a nicely laid out, professional looking message, you need a decent sized box, situated at eye level. When I saw that tiddly little box at the bottom corner of the page, & realised that was where I had to write my message, I could've cried! 

Others have already complained about this, but I really dislike eBay automatically opening the top message. It is very irritating to find a message already open, usually one from eBay nagging on about leaving feedback. Ironically, the title of the message is in great big type, but the message itself is in small, pale grey type, so feeble you can barely see it... and of course, you have to scroll down to read the message, because the title is taking up all the space!! 😠

I absolutely hate it, have tried to adapt to it but it is awful to navigate and understand. I keep leaving feedback when it asks but judging by this thread it will be pointless.

I am on a pc, no doubt this is designed for smartphones, like everything else these days.

It wouldn't be as bad if we were given a choice, and that is why I came on here, to see if I could find a way to get back to the 'old' version 😞

The old one wasn't perfect.  It always irritated me that it didn't thread properly, so if you sent 2 messages to someone they wouldn't both appear in the conversation subsequently.

But the new one is not an improvement on the desktop and is another example of "let's design this for the mobile app, then foist it on the desktop users regardless".

I'm not sure who the community monitors are these days.  Someone should be flagging them.  Is dave@ebay still around?  Or marco@ebay ?

They can explain to us how much notice is taken when people leave negatives on the invitation to offer feedback, and whether we're just wasting our time.

And how would you do that?  Ebay make pretty sure you can't get outside the system and use direct emails.  Which is in some respects a good thing, because scammers love to have a private conversation with you.  By having everything within the messaging system ebay staff can see the history of a sale and see if your buyer was being stroppy or you had an unreasonable seller.

Yes, I'm sure a lot of us would be interested to hear that conversation, but would we get honest answers?

Unfortunately, we would probably be told that there is always an initial negative reaction to change, and that we will all 'get used to it'... in other words, like it or lump it... 😠

New update is so bad when compared to the last version.

Why remove the "flag" feature? Now, there is no way of knowing which messages I need to go back to if I do not have the answer straight away, so the only option is to then mark the message as "un-read" ?

Also missing the visual indicator to show that a message has been replied to, so it now looks like a long line of opened messages without any response?

I tried to delete a message and it won't delete.

Are they tying to kill ebay...... Nothing is selling at the moment and now this messaging thing. You can't search for what you want even being absolutely specific in the search it still shows me loads of stuff I am not looking for...... whats wrong with Ebay

If I can't sell, can't find what I want to buy and can't see messages.... Do I take it they want me gone ?

I'm getting the same feeling! I used to look forward to visiting eBay, but nowadays I'm mostly thinking 'what will have been changed today...? what fresh horror awaits me...?'

It has turned into a Frankenstein's monster, with old bits being chopped off, and ever stranger, new bits being bolted on all over the place...😱

I agree with all the comments here.  You can no longer see a string of messages, now apparently only the last one sent or received.  I was only ever a private seller on eBay but appreciated the easy messaging service to communicate with my buyers when necessary.  With an Inbox and Sent box messages were easy to see.  I cannot see now how you can look at an earlier sent or received message now.  One of eBay's GREAT benefits (not enjoyed on a certain other huge selling platform - no prizes for guessing which one!!) was that a buyer could communicate directly and easily with a seller.  All companies have to fight to keep at the top of the game and eBay this is NOT the way to do it.
