Global Shipping still not working.

This problem has been ongoing now for over a month. I have contacted Ebay agent several times, each time told " We are aware of the problem, it will be passed to one of our technical team" 

I have several items listed with Global Shipping, but when I click " Postage, see postage details"  and change country from UK, it is still not showing calculated costs with customs duty tax for other Countries.

It just states " Check item description or contact seller for postage options. "

This seems to be affecting a large proportion of private sellers who are unable to sell internationally at the moment. 

This comes at a time when sellers are already having big problems in selling due to the Buyer Protection Fees.

It is something we could well do without and really requires urgent attention.

Global shipping still not working, buyers bid and then not allowed to pay. I have taken all my items out of Global Shipping and now selling to UK only.

A buyer in France contacted me yesterday asking if I could ship to France, so it looks like this issue is still occurring .  I contacted eBay help desk for help , and they wrote:

"..the problem you’ve explained about Global Shipping Programme (GSP) sounds like an emerging technical issue as we received few similar reports and we've already escalated it to our technical team so that they can review and resolve it as soon as possible"

From past experience working for an e-commerce platform, this sounds like the sort of problem which occurs when you are trying to run a large I.T. system : you have 15+ years of software changes done by different people over the years - most of whom are no longer with the company because senior management decided to move software development offshore, to save money - combined with the need to add new features continuously requested by the product development & marketing teams.

Coupled with that is the tendency for I.T teams to want to adopt the latest software development frameworks every few years, so you end up with newer parts of the platform written in different ways, a complex and fragmented system, and no-one understands any longer how any new features & changes may adversely affect the existing system.

No further updates as of yet, I'm afraid. Once I find out more about this, I will be posting back here to let you know.

As a workaround suggested by eBay Help Desk, I ended up editing my Postage Policy to disable GSP and manually added a couple of International postage options (Royal Mail International Standard & International Tracked ) , then limited each of these to Europe Only.  So my buyer in France was able to purchase from me in the end.

 

For those of you (like me)  new to Postage Policies, I have attached a screenshot of where to add the International postage options : you have to scroll down inside the Postage Policy, below the Domestic Postage & GSP sections.

 

However several caveats with this approach:

- you need to be careful about the sizes & weights of items you're sending, since Royal Mail international prices go up steeply with increasing weights;

- not sure how Returns get dealt with internationally

Hi Marco. 

This reply is same reply as you told me 2 MONTHS AGO!!   This really is not good enough. Selling has become virtually non existent  since Buyer Protection fees and Simple Delivery was forced  on sellers in February, added to that is the GSP problem.  So please can you answer why is it taking so long to sort out the problem with not being able to list with Global Shipping for private sellers?

That's ok robinsinclair. but that would only work with Royal Mail International for parcels under 2kg in weight. Not sure about Parcelforce.

Global Shipping still not working.

Have you tried re-entering the weight/dimensions using the Bulk Editor?  I had the same problem with GSP costs not showing, but I entered the weight/dimensions using the Bulk Editor on the Draft listings immediately before submitting them.  All these listings correctly showed the GSP shipping costs.  See Message #8 in the following thread for details on how to use the Bulk Editor to do this:

Note:  I assume using the Buk Editor would also work for Live listings but I've not actually tried.

Global Shipping still not working.

This is still occurring - I have multiple listing set up for GSP yet I'm getting postage queries from international buyers.

It's crazy that this looks to have been ongoing for many months now, without an official announcement that GSP pretty much doesn't work.

I've added sizes and weights, turned  GSP off/on - I still get "Check item description or contact seller for postage options." when altering the delivery destination.

Has anyone found a work-around or are we stuck with a non functioning system?

I contact ebey chat many times and answer  from them was for Uk seller's the sistem have problems and removing the option GSP from the listings (turned off) And they still can't fixed this... After weeks again i have many clients asked for same and same error about not in the list with country for delivery. I contact them again and again and they just don't answered each time support started case for problem . Last time  information was if buyer use ebey.com and ordered from  .com version can be ok .. For some people's this is ok but not each time.. Another another was you can make alone all about delivery and label and you can post without GSP if not working. OK in this case why is still active this option in the listings.. From February to now one week is ok 3 is not and not working.. They still can't fixed this problem and i just stop to contact them because i know the answer:(

This option is 50/50 and sometimes when you send something you will pay example 12£ for tracking the product will be posted and the label will be not correct  all fees and then will go to border for check and they will send you back . Many times this standard for Royal Mail! They just will take your payment for label and you will lose time .Then second time because your client will waiting and for final  negative feedback and probably you will lose money for delivery.  GSP is easy and is nice option but .. not working 😞

Are you any further forward with the GSP issue?  It is getting ridiculous now!  I am losing out on sales to European buyers because of it which is very frustrating to say the least.

 

Can you at least give us some sort of timescale as to when GSP will be running normally again?

Yesterday was ok for short time before that last two weeks not working again .. I have report from buyers for same message each time the seeler don't send for your country pla change your details.. (something similar)  . Sometimes with ebey.com is ok  but again is 50/50.For one month 1-2 days is ok . Answer from ebey was make alone all or to be used  ebey.com if is possible...

I reported many times this problem with online chat .. all start from February . Each week someone report on my messages for same problem . Some weeks i have one order after that two weeks without and with questions about same problem. When i report they said each time same problem with the system only for UK sellers . The system automatically removed the GSP option in the listings. The option is ON but not working in the listings.  Last time the live chat open request  for this problem. After 3 dasy i have message from them about this problem . Next day was ok 2-3 GSP orders  and after that again same reports from buyers and 2 weeks without internal orders. Problems is with UK sellers for that probably is difficult to be fixed.

Thanks for the heads up. I can understand it's difficult to solve, but I can't believe this is not a top priority for them, so many people are losing lots of money which just make ebay an unreliable platform to sell on

Ebey is 50% dead after February. Many sellers are in different platforms now Simple delivery is nice I like  this but all now is very expensive for final price (+ exstra for ebey) . In combination with some more problems all buyers (50% are sellers and they buying products from another sellers) are lost now . From 20 orders before now they are 5-6 or 1-2 per day.. Google search  first is Amazon then Temu AliExpress and is possible Ebey somewhere..  GSP is one small problem!   Yes everyone lost money when  GSP not working (ebey and sellers).

I cannot believe that this issue is still ongoing.  

What a farce.  

 

Not only frustrating beyond belief for sellers and buyers but how can the senior management in eBay not be aware of this problem??

 

Surely there is a system in place for escalating major problems and prioritising fixing them?

 

Surely whoever analyses eBay sales and revenue performance must have identified a notable reduction and therefore impact on their bottom line.  

Not to mention the damage to the eBay reputation.

 

Ironic as I suspect many of these (seemingly needless and endless) changes are in fact counter productive (perhaps watching competitor sales platform strategies and behaviours instead of sticking at and doing what they are good at, and one of the best and unique reasons for using eBay to sell internationally)

 

As a longstanding loyal advocate of the eBay selling platform I am truly being tested.

 

I think this problem of GSP not functioning correctly and not quoting the cost or permitting international buyers to check out and pay, is related to the roll out of simply delivery for private buyers.  

 

I have been told about a temporary work round solution by an Irish eBay agent during my most recent report of this issue, verbally with an eBay customer services:

 

**The work round solution for your international eBay buyer to be able to see costs and checkout and pay, is to be signed in on any of the eBay sites other than eBay.co.uk**

so for example your buyer needs to be signed in on eBay.com which they (and .co.uk registered users) can do with normal sign in details.

You (.co.uk users) can also verify this works by signing in on eBay.com and changing the delivery country for one of your GSP opted in listings and you will see that the cost of shipping is quoted, no message saying cost varies and to check with the seller

(except for US as a destination of course as they are temporarily “paused” due to the separate issue of tariffs etc)

And presumably this workaround has to be on a desktop version of the website, and not mobile or the eBay app

Yes this was the answer on the live chat for option 50/50.. But not working again. And for example if i am buyer and i am login in my country and i want to ordered something from UK first will be this .. the seller didn't send to your country. Next step will be ok next seller... And first one will lose and probably and Ebey.. In this case another bone will contact  for info about this problem and for example my answer was yes i know for this problem and is for all Uk sellers pls login in ebey .com and try (again 50/50 some buyer don't understand English ) so again  i will lose this buyer. And last is yes he login but still not working  one day two days... And just they don't come back. . 

 

Simple delivery is for each product standard now ! Simple delivery or not  the product will be sent to eBay local wearhouse and will be sent to buyer. Ebey take the price for delivery + again for exstra and + international tax!!! The buyer will pay 3 times.  Another problem is crazy expensive delivery price + all fees. In each case the buyer ks protected and this is good! But if GSP is ok and can be used .I like simple delivery easy and good option YES more expensive  but good.  Yes ebey make money for Royal Mail the expensive option for delivery. But all is business:) . Now the final price for one cheap product after all is very expensive and ebey just can't take money because the sellers don't have many orders . This will be clear visible for Ebey + many different problems. For example  From 6 international orders only 2 of them are delivered!!!  another 4 are just lost or without update on tracking information. Ebey refound them. Correct and good ! But not best for buyers.  If you ask someone in uk for product answer will be Amazon i buy for Amazon! This is clear visible in each social platform .. First choice is there.. Not good for Ebey but this is te real situation and will need time all to come back like before  😞
