Royal Mail tracking said parcel was received at the local sorting office at 8:02 and went out for delivery at 8:29. Next thing I get a message saying the delivery had failed because the 'address was inaccessible'. I've been sat here waiting for it watching the road - they have have made zero attempt to deliver. Finally got through to them and got a load of waffle about how it's the senders fault (it isn't) and therefore the delivery would be an extra day- they had no answer when I pointed out their own tracking showed the parcels journey up to when it was out for delivery. Basically they couldn't be bothered to drive out to the village to make the delivery (we don't get post delivered every day) and I've wasted a day waiting for them. If you can, use Evri or whatever, RM is utterly useless - a liars.

Unfortunately all the other will do the same as royal mail, although evri may lose it for you and be one of the 20 million they lose every year.

Usually this message is when postie finds roadworks, road closed or an accident which would delay or make delivery to your address difficult / impossible, it can also occur when RM has been notified of a road closure even though it is open for access to homes / businessess only.

Totally agree, don’t pay Royal Mail for Special Next delivery by 1pm , paid £22.50 for an urgent expense parcel , posted on Thursday morning. Still hasn’t arrived and it’s now Saturday, with tracking stuck on South Midlands MC.
Was told by Royal Mail, if it hasn’t arrived by a week later, presume it is lost.
How can a tracked item be lost?
Use Parcel Force much more reliable.
