Bank Details

Payments are being held until I verify my bank details even though nothing has changed for years - why?

Re: Bank Details

Looks like you have retuned to selling after a long break,  so eBay just wish to see that the genuine owner has returned to selling. It's a good security measure to have you check and confirm your bank account details.

Or,  have you perhaps not fully registered for eBay's Managed Payments?

You need to provide eBay with details of a bank account and have this account verified.  The usual method here, is for eBay to send 2 micro deposits into that nominated bank account for you to receive,  and confirm to eBay.

Once this is completed,  you will be able to list items for sale,  and receive payouts from those sales.

This will show you how to register for eBay's Managed Payments.

Re: Bank Details

Thanks for responding but I’ve been a member since 2004 and made a sale/withdrew the funds the next day only a couple of days ago so can’t understand why eBay are asking me to verify the bank account which I’ve used since I became a member in 2004?

Re: Bank Details

You made a sale and had funds,  but that sale was made on what eBay saw as a dormant account.

Sudden selling activity, even for an account not used for a few months,  raises red flags to eBay,  it could be a sign that the account has been hijacked.

It's a security measure for your account and for your buyers to show that you,  the genuine owner has returned,  by being able to verify your bank account details.

Being on this forum for some years,  I have to say that questions about .... ' please help,  what do I do my account has been hijacked' ,  are few and far between now,  so eBay's security measures from what I can see,  are working.

Re: Bank Details

Hi, I’ve been selling regularly for years so can only assume something has triggered this and I’ll just have to wait for the 2 microdeposits to hit my bank account and then hopefully I can withdraw my funds. Thanks.

Re: Bank Details

Just to add............when you receive the micro deposits make sure that you enter them exactly as received or they wont work.    I messed up our account by entering them in the wrong order 😞

Re: Bank Details

Hi mike201158, thanks for your post.

Please note that you don't need to necessarily change something, or stop selling and then restart selling for this to be triggered. If you haven't confirmed your bank details before, then that's why. I understand that it might not be ideal, but this is a process all sellers have to go through at some stage.

This is all for privacy and security reasons, and to be in compliance with UK laws and regulations.

Thank you,

Marco
