Royal Mail price rises 1st January 2021

I have just read that the Royal Mail are putting the price of 1st and 2nd class stamps up on the 1st January 2021

https://www.royalmailgroup.com/en/press-centre/press-releases/royal-mail-group/stamp-pricing/

1st class will increase from 76p to 85p and 2nd class from 65p to 66p

There is no mention of increases for large letter or parcels though on that article. Although it does appear that a large letter WILL be going up if you dig around on their website you can find the price for Books of Retail stamps from 2021

https://www.royalmail.com/sites/royalmail.com/files/2020-11/royal-mail-retail-stamp-price-guide-1-ja...

This seems to indicate that a 1st class large letter upto 100g will be £1.29 and a 2nd class large letter upto 100g will be 96p.

So no doubt this will be an increase in price across all of their services, normally this is expected around April but its going to be early this year.

Remember though that if you buy books 1st or 2nd class stamps NOW, they are still valid for after 1st Jan so you can save money by stocking up before the prices go up

The volume of letters RM are now dealing with has dropped significantly which is why they're increasing prices.

However the volume of parcels they're dealing with has increased significantly so perhaps they'll hold their current prices.
