Unfortunately you have been lied to by whomever told you there is a figure. If you are buying to sell or making to sell you need to be on a business account, if you are just selling unwanted personal possession you need to be on a private account. It doesnt matter if you sell £10 or £10k a year.
When it gets messy is if you have a hobby of say stamp collecting, if you buy 100 knowing you only want 25 and will sell the rest then you need to be a business account, but if you just wake up one day and think im done with this hobby and I know want to learn to wing walk you can sell your collection as a private seller.
Main thing is sadly eBay customer service agents are more focused on ending the call than giving you the correct info. Its also best to check on the government site as they give you a clear breakdown of if you are a business or not.

That's your answer.

eBay would see no reason for a private seller like yourself to have such an option, as private seller only sell their own used items.
You are holding and selling large stocks of items, so if you were to be correctly registered as a business seller you would have the option you want.

When ever i speak to Ebay they keep telling me i dont need to be a business,i have contacted them on several occasions now regarding this subject but keep being told the same,i think its based on how much money you make and i do not meet there threshold

This infuriated me as i used to sell more items with multi buy & offer a discount the more that was purchased. Now ebay says you have to have a business account to have this facility "WHY". When i asked how much is a business account, twice. No reply. The other thing to watch out for is eBay's postal charges. £5:50 through ebay, £3:45 at the post office.Ebay said it was the insurance,? yet i get £150 insurance at the post office included.

Hi, i know what you mean about the postage,i always do the custom postage and enter the price myself.
Do you think they want you as a private seller to charge you more fee's ??? i havent checked myself but that would make sense, they seem to make it up as they go along!

It's nothing to do with how much money you make.
