I'm new to selling on ebay, although I'm registered and have an item listed I don't yet have an account set up to receive any money from any sales. Could someone please let me know what the process is for this and what bank details are needed to get it started. Thanks.

You need a UK bank account that is registered in the same name as the name that your eBay account is registered in. Note the financial institution must have a UK banking licence - some electronic money providers (also known as "digital challenger banks") do not have a UK banking licence so will not be accepted by eBay.

I have got a UK bank account, no problems there, I just need to know the process and details needed to open an account with ebay to enable me to receive any money from my sales.

You already have an eBay account; you just need to add your bank account details in the "Payouts" section of this page. That section might not appear until the item you have listed has actually sold as I think you have to actually sell something before all the "selling" options become available.

To receive payouts, you’ll need to link your bank account to your eBay account. It’s important to make sure that the names on both accounts match.
It’s also important to make sure that your account type on eBay matches your bank account type. For example, if you have a business eBay account, you’ll need a business bank account to register as a seller.
To verify your bank account, we'll need:
Once we verify your information, we’ll send you an email to let you know you’re set up.
If we can't verify your information, we may ask you to verify your linked bank account another way, such as:
When verifying your account, if your bank is available in the Add a bank account list, you can select it and log in directly with your bank credentials. This is the fastest way to verify your bank account.
Alternatively, you can verify your account using two microdeposits (small payments) sent to your linked bank account.
Here’s how to verify your account using microdeposits:
It can take up to 5 business days for microdeposits to reach your account, and we’ll email you to confirm they’ve arrived. The microdeposits will be withdrawn from your bank account within a few days.
Tip
Don’t attempt to enter any amounts until the microdeposits have reached your bank account as this could cause issues with verifying your account.
If we can’t verify your linked bank account using one of the methods above, you may need to send us a colour picture of a recent bank statement for that account. If we need this additional information, we’ll send you an email with instructions on how to upload the image.
Please make sure that the bank statement:
Your image can be in JPEG, JPG, PDF, or PNG format. The maximum file size is 4 MBA.

Thanks for all the very useful info. When the potential buyer comes round to inspect/buy the product (a bicycle), and decides to buy, what is the procedure for receiving payment into my account at that point.

The buyer will need to pay through ebay before you can exchange info for them to collect. They will be given a code for you to scan to get your payment released to withdraw to your bank account.

Just to clarify the procedure is:
