eBay listing images/Hotlinked question

Hello!

I have a question regarding listing images, all of my listings were uploaded via csv via the reports page, I have about 14k unique active listings, I would like to put a watermark over all of my listing images, the images were hosted in a google storage bucket.

my question is, if I edit the images in my google bucket, so that they share the exact same URL as the URL I used when I uploaded them originally, will the images update on my listings? are the images hot linked or does eBay download the image from the URL and store them on their own servers?

many thanks

Yes, eBay has copied your picures to Ebay Picture Services (EPS).

I looked at item 256881908258. The pic comes from https://i.ebayimg.com/images/g/7XcAAeSwbgpn79n7/s-l960.jpg
It is also at https://i.ebayimg.com/00/s/MTU5OVgxMTQy/z/7XcAAeSwbgpn79n7/$_1.JPG?set_id=8800005007

Incidentally if you change $_1 to $_n (eg $_2) you can get different sizes.

I'm wondering if it's possible to revise listings to change the pictures - it might be worth having a go by uploading something like:

Action,ItemID,PicURL
Revise,256881908258,https://www.kasandbox.org/programming-images/avatars/marcimus-red.png
Revise,123456123456,https: ... etc.

I've no idea if that would work but there's nothing to lose by trying one listing.

I believe I saw your Member to Member thread where the requirement here was to apply a watermark.

If that is the reasoning - I wouldn't bother

Though whether you would be caught and anything done about a watermark is another question.

I’ve had a watermark right across one of mine since 2013 and it’s still there

The largest UK card store with 3.5m items sold has their branding watermarked on every one of their listings so I was under the impression it would be okay
