Total lack of communication from eBay higher up personnel, especially as 15th April (demolition on eBay) draws close.
Probably leaving those in customer services to fob us off with vague and unhelpful replies.
There is a total lack of clarity especially with letter size items (postcards, stamps etc) and large letter size items (DVDs, smaller collectables etc). Can they be exempt from printed labels and sent with Royal Mail stamps ?
I note also there is a lack of frustration with those sending parcels, whether using EVRI or Royal Mail.
Incorrect weight labels presenting despatch problems and why are eBay overcharging on postage ?
BPF, is eBay serious. What was wrong with Sellers Fees in the past ?
Efficient companies would have become aware of problems they have caused. Gone on to solve them and WANTED TO MAINTAIN THE SATISFACTION OF THEIR CLIENT BASE.
Several postings have mentioned there appears to be a greed element on the part of eBay .. It does make you wonder !!!

To answer one of your points, it's a letter AND large letter size (Royal Mail sizes) under 100g, with a item value of up to £10.00 excluding BPF that are exempt from Simple Delivery.

'BPF, is eBay serious. What was wrong with Sellers Fees in the past ?'

To answer another of your points:
It's so that ebay can compete with V inted and other modern sites , where 'its free to sell'!👍and the buyer pays a buyer's fee.
No other reason- the BPF is simply there to try and partly make up for the loss of private sellers fees.
(the rest of the loss- and probably more- is made up for by interest gained during the 'payment hold', and money extracted from both the buyer and the courier in the Simple Del. system.)

Only from 21st if it happens

Hi
Can you tell me where this is stated as the case as I have no option here?
thanks

But its not free to sell when the seller has to provide the packaging i.e. a record mailer (LP) with stiffener costs around £1 each. You cannot buy them from any old discount store. The costs of those items would have been passed on to the buyer as part of the 'p&p' prices - not any more.

It was confirmed by one of the Mentors who had been told by an Ebay Employee. You will have to look through the posts on SD to find the thread.

What's happening on 21st? I though SD was mandatory from tomorrow, 15th?

'But its not free to sell when the seller has to provide the packaging i.e. a record mailer (LP)....'

Absolutely.
But ebay and V inted can *advertise* themselves as 'free to sell' because *they* are not asking the seller for any money....

Thank you for the reply.
Until eBay categorically state that Large Letter size is to be included I will hold off listing any new items.
Sorry but I do not trust them
14-04-2025 1:16 PM
That is coming in from the 21st, if it does
14-04-2025 1:18 PM
The SD being removed from 100g less than £10
14-04-2025 1:20 PM
Me also it brings hope but things are constantly changing so my listings remain in unsold
14-04-2025 1:21 PM
Where do you see the reference to the 21st?
I'm still not convinced at all, as all we have is a customer services rep telling another poster. Normally, posters on here wouldn't believe a CS rep if they told them it was Monday today, so I don't understand why they are all lapping this up. I am worried it may turn out to be wishful thinking.
14-04-2025 2:18 PM
It wasn't an Ebay CS rep, it was an Ebay Employee.
14-04-2025 2:48 PM
Ebay CS reps are employees of ebay. What makes statements of any other class of staff more valid?
It's the drip-feeding of info which is damaging. How long before we can filter the guesses from misinformation or from reality I wonder? That might be when I relist.

So, nothing official then?

I read it there a few days ago.
It starts:
Dear Sellers, We are making a change to the way Royal Mail 1st and 2nd Class Letter/Large Letter services are being shown on eBay. From Monday 21st April 2025, the following changes will take place when choosing a service in the delivery details of your listings:
15-04-2025 8:35 AM
So I get this today
eBay’s new shipping rules are now live. If your eBay account is still set as a private seller, you’ll no longer be able to use Smart Send to ship your eBay orders — they may be rejected* under eBay’s new Simple Delivery policy.
To continue using Smart Send without disruption, you’ll need to switch your eBay account to a business seller. It only takes a few minutes.
Buyer still has to pay Buyer protection on items collected, why not just stay with charging % as before? I presume they make more? Been to thetrump school of economics, driving all private sellersd away. Me thinks they have totally forgotten their roots
