Simple delivery.

Ok so after a few calls to ebay complaining about simple delivery recently, I have now recieved my email saying it will be compulsory April 15th. I am not happy as I like to walk to my local post office in the village, its a social place where locals meet for a chat but also the family running the post office need local people supporring them, if not we may lose the post office for good. I dont want to support Evri. What is the best alternative platform to sell used items on? Maybe we should all boycott ebay from April 15th? They may see sense and drop simple delivery. Sorry if Im rambling bit Im so angry about all this. I have a shed full of stuff and have made lots of draft listings but now Im not sure what to do. Not keen on using facebook. Is Gumtree any good?

Re: Simple delivery.

If all disgruntled sellers boycoted eBay after the 15th then would eBay listen to sellers concerns regarding recent changes on eBay? I would like to think they will listen, but you know what, I think they would rather go out of business than to admit they have listened to our concerns and revert back to the way eBay was when it was simple and fun to do so.

You need a comma in this sentence since you have two independent clauses.

Re: Simple delivery.

My local Evri drop-off point is a shop I occasionally use, but it's not as convenient as my post office. If I made any sales on my private account, this is where I would expect to drop them (if Evri was selected by the buyer).

I spoke to the shopkeeper today. Evri haven't told him (a thoroughly nice chap) anything about this. He has only a small space to dedicate to Evri parcels, and can't deal with any more than about two sacks per day. Added to that, Evri often don't call to collect every day, and even now, he is regularly turning people away, as he doesn't have the capacity to take their parcels.

And eBay want us to use this....

Re: Simple delivery.

You’ll still be able to choose the carriers by going to Postage Preferences in your account settings. We recommend enabling all carriers for the most competitive postage rates.

I've just deleted Evri, so I have RM as my only carrier.

Re: Simple delivery.

In your account settings you can choose which courier you want to use. At the moment the choices appear to be only Royal Mail and Evri. You can remove Evri and still go to the Post Office.

Re: Simple delivery.

However, if you remove one carrier, eBay will charge more for posting using only the other one. You only get the best posting rates through eBay if you agree to let them and the buyer choose the courier.

Re: Simple delivery.

remember that  e bay slipped into the new system that even if you select one or the other courier they can override that decision.

Re: Simple delivery.

I spoke to them today and they were incredibly unhelpful. They did say that my listings would all be Royal Mail deliveries but, quite frankly, I wouldn't believe them anyway.

Ebay postage rates for both couriers and where one or the other is deselected:

Re: Simple delivery.

Are these prices valid before or after Royal Mail's price increases, which come in next Monday?

Re: Simple delivery.

Yes but I want to choose my postage and pay for it myself in the post office. I dont want ebay dictating how much I charge , its my item, not ebay's. Im not listing any more items from today, will be interesting to see how this all pans out, personally I think ebay will die out soon.

Re: Simple delivery.

Where did you find these prices? I don't get offered the 2-10kg rate when I list items. I can have up to 2kg or up to 15kg, which makes the postage ridiculously expensive for a 3kg package if I want to send by Royal Mail.

They also don't offer the Royal Mail small parcel rate for smaller packages up to 2kg (£3.39 for Royal Mail 48, increasing to £3.45 on 7th April), so all my postage rates are going to go up even though they claim that Simple Delivery is cheaper.

Re: Simple delivery.

Their SD system doesn't offer the 2-10kg and 10-15kg weights when listing, it just offers weights up to 2 kg then weights up to 15kg and if you pick both options you have no idea which company is going to be used!

They are on the Seller Centre help page in the FAQ's section 'How to Post > What carriers are available with Simple Delivery?'.

These are the current prices for 'Stsndard' delivery.  The prices for 'Express' delivery aren't currently listed anywhere.

There has been no notification as to whether the prices will be increasing when Royal Mail's price increase takes effect.

Re: Simple delivery.

You have to use custom postage to g et the 6.65 up to 5kg option

yeah it’s wrong on SD

just use custom postage

click on bottom where it says switch to custom

don’t think they’ll notice if your item isn’t bigger or heavier lol
