Simple delivery problems with Age verification on saw with no blade

I am really struggling to post a listing for a reciprocating saw without a blade. I guess eBay sees this as a bladed item and forces me to use age verification, which on it's own would be bad enough, but then it won't let me add age verification to the listing. I've been in a revolving door chat with eBay staff who have no idea what to do and they kept transferring me to someone who knew even less. So i'm hoping someone here can help.

  • Reciprocating saw with no blade in the category of reciprocating saws and up to 10kg in weight.
  • Simple delivery, postage only, choose courier, I selected Royal Mail, as I know they have an age verification service. Added all the other details as usual, but I get the bladed item warning and it tells me that I have to use an age verification service, but I can't see such a service anywhere on the listing page or dropdowns.
  • Using Safari Version 18.5 (20621.2.5.11.8) Desktop on a Mac. All extensions turned off for this.
  • My eBay account is in good standing and is from 2004.
  •

The error when trying to list is this:

'In the UK, bladed items can be sold and delivered only to customers aged 18 or older, so you need to select a delivery service with age verification and remove all others, including collection in person. For more details, see our Knives policy'

One of the eBay staff got me to delete business policies, but that didn't work. One suggested removing the word saw from the lisying, until I pointed out that it was the name of the item and that the category was reciprocating saws.

Not sure where to go from here. I see that there are many others of this same saw listed already, so it is doable.

Can anyone shed any light please? Thanks!

Yes, it allows you to select any of the options ebay has for postage i.e. not just Simple Delivery.

Did you do the bit about £800?

Re: Simple delivery problems with Age verification on saw with no blade

Thanks for the reply. The thing that I am missing is the ability to add age verification.  Does using the above method allow me to do that? I don't see any way to make the parcel bigger, there's just the 'Package size' drop down, and then the size options, small letter, medium parcel etc, but nowhere to do a custom size. I was already at the second from biggest, but I've just tried the biggest and it didn't change anything. Not sure if I've misunderstood or I'm missing something on my listing page?

Edit: refreshed it and it's ok now. phew, what a bleedin day on ebay that was 😂
