Simple Delivery

Is Simple Delivery mandatory now ? used to be able to select custom postage option but it’s not available now. Just tried listing and Simple Delivery is the only option for postage

You're right, it is a rip off and it's going to be very hard to justify it to buyers, especially if you switch evri off it goes up even more.
The problem is all the other couriers work on weight - 500g, 1kg and 2kg. Royal Mail works on size and weight so ebay are trying to make one size fits all. A few months ago, vinted tried to force all couriers on their sellers and soon reverted back to sellers choice because it just didn't work.

It can’t be justified to buyers or sellers. The only winners here are eBay, but they won’t be when everyone leaves and the marketing authorities (hopefully) get involved- please write to them to complain, as the more emails they get the better our chances, as change works with numbers of people.

Someone bought something from me this afternoon and my custom postage was changed to Simple Delivery.  I've messaged buyer, cancelled order, relisted and it allowed me to select custom postage price which is much lower than Simple Delivery.

Cancelling order is a strike for me, due to options for reason, but not that bothered as I will not use Simple Delivery - I have stamps to use.

Exactly what happened to me. After I discovered that the listing had been automatically changed to simple delivery I also saw that the provided postage label was the completely wrong weight and dimensions. I contacted eBay who said the label couldn't be changed and if it wasn't used there would be no charge?. After posting the item myself as usual I discovered that the postage cost will be returned to the buyer as the label wasn't used. eBay have suggested I ask the buyer for the money to be sent to me via PayPal to reimburse the postage, absolute nonsense. I am still waiting for a response to clarify why my items delivery options were changed without my consent and what seems like after it was sold, and why am I not receiving the postage costs. This is all really shambolic and actually quite astonishing.

Unfortunately from Monday you will not be able to use stamps (I also have loads) as their (not so) simple delivery is the only option and all your sales will be transferred to this automatically, and probably not even the right price as it’s all guesswork by their robots. Any new listings will also be simple delivery only and there will be no more custom postage. The biggest mess and mistake they have ever made. Run now, while you can.

Welcome to the world of robots. All current listings will be changed to “not simple delivery” on Monday 7th April and you will no longer be able to select any other postage except theirs. The biggest scam ever so they control every aspect of buying and selling. Please join the rest of us that are leaving in droves as we refuse to be dictated to how we send parcels, that will leave us massively out of pocket as Royal Mail and post office are two different companies that eBay doesn’t understand as they are not British. Our parcels are done by weight AND size but they don’t get this at all. Nothing will be insured anymore for the real value, things won’t be signed for or shown as delivered so you will be out of pocket for at least 2 weeks until the dictators decide if you are worthy of getting your money. The list of drawbacks for sellers is getting longer by the second and the only ones getting richer are eBay. They haven’t even taken into account that Royal Mail prices increase on 7th as well and every other month when RM feel like the CEO isn’t getting enough salary. They have stuck 2 fingers up at all private sellers and are ripping us off big time. Please do like lots of us have and write to the competition and markets authority (CMA ) as they cannot be allowed to have autonomy over how we post things, as it is biased against every other delivery company except whom they choose. When you have done this delete all your listings as they will change your postage so you lose out, and then run for the hills. The group of leavers must be huge now.

They are on the “eBay way only” planet and they will be all alone on it as so many people are leaving. Hope you are going to join the growing number of sensible people? Also don’t forget to write to the competitions and marketing authorities as it is illegal to take every option of postage away because eBay want it in their favour due to greed. How sellers post items is nothing to do with eBay but they have made it their mission to dictate that it’s their way or nothing and the CMA will NOT like that.

They’re so sloppy in their rush to get this system out that table doesn’t even differentiate between second and first class….they just put 4.27 for which service???? Probably second, wonder what the hell tracked 24 would be 

seeing as there are NO benefits to sellers with the new system especially with RM…and seeing as there is only LOTS  of hassle, aggro, confusion ……one has to wonder why they are willing to pee off so many…for what??? And all presented in doublespeak

if it’s just greed then yeah I will be on MY highway not THEIRS….there are a lot of other places to sell…this one might have millions of buyers but sellers get no views from them ..why is that eBay?

When you live 8 miles from the nearest Evri drop off (and don't drive) you can't offer Evri so prices go up A Lot for your buyers. You can't even pay for a top up for collection from evri. Also there will not be the option of having royal mail bring the label...you have to go to the post office with your smart phone...if you have one. It will really affect rural people who just use maybe a mobile phone and live miles from even a post office.

since simple delivery arrived there are a lot of postcodes that aren't allowed to offer express service, so no more first class mail option from me. yet if someone wanted it I could arrange first class mail and collection by postie the day after purchase

I live in a rural area - I rarely get enough signal outside my house to use qr codes so unless you have a printer, you could be up the creek

Please do contact CMA as they need as many complaints as possible. Easy online form to complete.
EBay are an absolute con. They started decades ago as an online car boot sale type business and millions of members got them to where they are today and has turned them into greedy dictators who think they can do anything they want and get away with it.
Well not in my book, nor 100s (probably 1000s by now) of others who know they have massively overstepped the line of right and wrong.
I will get my payout tomorrow (another greedy thing they now do by effectively holding MY money for 2+ days for them to get interest), will then demand all of my history with them in writing and it’s bye bye greedy despots.
Please do the same and spread the word as they can’t get away with this.

Had a conversation with someone in scotland who didn't drive and lived a long way away from a post office and has been able to sell things on ebay with just her phone and getting the postie to bring the label.
Moving from EE to a vodafone based service has offered me phone signal indoors! My printer is on its last legs, during big power and mobile outage I had to go to a friend's because had made a sale, and was great to have the possibility of postie bring label - as said friend had electric and phone signal but no printer!

Oh good, you sound like another leaver. Welcome to the club where there are now 100s, probably 1000s of us who are not going to be dictated to about how we post our possessions, just to line their pockets.
Please write to the CMA about how they have removed all forms of courier I favour of their choices as this goes against the competition and marketing laws.
Delete all your listings before you lose money on postage with their “new greedy law” and then run for the hills, telling everyone you know to do the same.
These lot need to be given a massive wake up call in the loss of tons of sellers and investigation by the CMA.

cheesed off lately with ebay. Sad really as I've had a great 19 years

And I bet that Ebay have negotiated heavily discounted prices with RM and Evri and wont be paying them anything like the amount they will charge sellers. Ebay would not bring in this Not so simple rip off if there was not a few million in it for them. They should change their name to Econ its more appropriate.

The postie may/may not collect and won’t give you any tracking any more. You will have to buy and print an overpriced label that post offices have been told to refuse as the weight/size means they are underpaid because eBay robots now dictate how big your items are, and what they say goes.
Please join the 100s/1000s of us leavers and delete your listings as all of those items are now “not so simple” delivery prices whether you like it or not and cannot be changed so you will lose out in every way.
Write to the CMA as it is illegal to remove competition over postal couriers by a company dictating who you can use. Its none of their business how we choose to post our belongings to someone!! One simple online form to complete and so many people have done this but the more sent will get them involved faster. Delete your listings as everything will now be underpriced. Run for the hills and tell everyone you know to do the same.

Ebay have stated in today's announcement that they are working on a printerless option for collection.  Better late than never I suppose!
