Simple Delivery if I offer Free Shipping

This is so confusing, can someone clarify please. 

When SD becomes mandatory, if I offer Free Shipping on a listing, can I just buy whatever postage I want and then add the tracking to the order?

Don't think you can unfortunately.

It is my understanding that if you offer "free postage" eBay will supply the label and charge it to your (the seller's) account.
