This is the new kick in the teeth for private sellers. If you list anything now, people searching "Newly Listed" items will find your item maybe 4 or 5 pages in. Unless you PAY the extra to get on page one (12%). I urge all buyers searching newly listed items to by-pass the first 4 pages to avoid the FORCED VIEWING from tat peddlers.

I purposefully avoid buying anything that is promoted 😆

@cloon actually, as of sometime in early October, if you use any sort option besides Best Match, you won't be seeing Promoted Listings ads.
I noticed the change about a week ago, asked about it over in the US forum and one of the eBay employees confirmed it is an intentional change.
I've done some test searches on the UK site as well as some of the other eBay sites and as far as I can tell, this is a global change - searches sort by Time, Price, and Distance options no longer showed Sponsored listings in the results, no matter how much someone might have their ad rate set at.

I did a search for an item, set to "Newly Listed" then got 4 pages of promoted items before hitting the first Newly Listed item. This is NOT "relevant" to what I'm searching for. I go to AliExpress for my east produced garbage anyway, no Buyer Protection fees there.

@cloon do the 4 pages of items actually say Sponsored? Do you have a screenshot of what you're seeing?

Hi @valueaddedresource I agree with your findings. It's a positive step, except for those paying to promote I suppose.

I just looked at one of my Saved Searches which only has four pages of results.
Half a dozen "Newly Listed" at the top of P.1. No others on any of the other pages. Everything looks the same as usual to me.
