Rip off Britain's AVIOS points scam

Ebay management were made to grovel on national telly last week for allowing the selling of  Avios points which they agreed was against their own policy and were fake anyway. So they took the listings down.

I was watching Rip off Britain on my phone in a&e  a couple of days after the programme had actually gone out, with little else to do I searched for Avios points on eBay and they were back. Still with nothing better to do I reported the listings to eBay and to their credit they were taken down.

So I just searched again today and guess what, the search on eBay is so clever that it can find the fraudulent, against ebay policy Avios points scam listings for buyers regardless of the fact that the scanners now use a different "Avois" spelling and use an entertainment category.

This technique for avoiding detection by computers goes back to the 90s where you could just change one letter in your address and get a new account, new credit limit etc with any company you liked.  It's quite sad to see that despite pushing AI that computer programming has not come that far at eBay.  I have reported them.

And they have been removed. But not before I was made a reduced price offer. Prize for the person to spot the next lot listed.

Seller has an impressive 94.7 % rating

Buyer Feedback for a previous sale of similar item. "Paid for the Avios and contacted seller. Seller tried to purchase the tickets for me instead of sending me the Avios I paid for. Finally assured me it would be transferred in the evening. After that it's been radio silence. Never received the product."

I have reported it, but the others are still available too.

Rip off Britain's AVIOS points scam

Send your report to Rip Off Britain and they will revisit the topic. This greedy company must be made to stop enabling scammers. They need to employ thousands more staff but they can afford it although their shareholders wouldn't like it. They've created the Frankenstein and must kill it.
