Parcel contents stolen

After some advice.

After 20 years selling on ebay I've had my 1st major issue today.

I sold a £300 soundbar but the parcel had been opened and resealed with a low value item.

I know it's not the buyer, as the delivery photo parcelforce took is a different shape to the item I sent.

Everything was done via ebay (postage label etc).

I've had to send a refund to the buyer.

How do I claim my money back?

Thank you.

Re: Parcel contents stolen

Hi fatfingers73, thanks for your post.

If you purchased the label on your own, you will need to contact the courier directly and try to put a claim with them directly. If the label was purchased through eBay, then you can put a claim through using this link.

Thank you,

Marco

Did you purchase the label via eBay?

How was this refund processed - did the buyer open a case via eBay?

Give me ambiguity or give me something else.

Re: Parcel contents stolen

Yes label was purchased via eBay.

Yes he raised a case for wrong item received and I issued a full refund.

Re: Parcel contents stolen

It was purchased through eBay but that link doesn't recognise the tracking number. I've tried number on receipt and tracking number on eBay.

I'm not sure if Parcelforce is brokered through Packlink. You should have received an email confirmation for the shipping payment - who is that email from?

Give me ambiguity or give me something else.

Re: Parcel contents stolen

I can't find the original email. I've attached PayPal details of shipping label.

Re: Parcel contents stolen

Hi fatfingers73, thanks for your reply.

If you confirm the item number of the transaction in question, I can take a further look for you no problem.

Thank you,

Marco

Re: Parcel contents stolen

You will need your Packlink reference number, try here:

Parcelforce labels are not purchased through Packlink.  Any claim will need to be made directly with Parcelforce.

In your PayPal activity log it will state "Payment to..." followed by who the payment was made to.

My gut feeling is the payment was made to Parcelforce in which case you would need to raise a claim with them.

EDIT: Actually, if I remember correctly it will state the payment was made to eBay as I believe eBay acts as an agent for Royal Mail & Parcelforce. You still need to raise a claim with Parcelforce.

Re: Parcel contents stolen

Hi fatfingers73, thanks for confirming the item number, and apologies for the delay on this.

I've just checked for you, and it looks like the shipping label didn't go through us. So, in this case you will need to contact the carrier directly and try to sort it out with them directly. That's why the number you're entering is not being recognized as well.

Hope this helps,

Marco

Hi Marco,

As per the screenshot posted by @fatfingers73:

The label was definitely purchased via eBay. However, I'm pretty sure Parcelforce services are not brokered through Packlink hence why the tracking number isn't recognised by them.

Re: Parcel contents stolen

marco@ebay

IF the label had been purchased from ebay under the SD guise - would the Seller still receive and keep the initial £300, and the Buyer be refunded from ebay coffers, or maybe in connection with the shipping agent without imput from the seller ? Oh and a timescale please.

Re: Parcel contents stolen

Hi 4_bathrooms, how are you?

Yep, I saw that, but after checking the system, it definitely didn't go through the Packlink service/broker, which is why they are unable to put the claim through that way. Thanks for help here by the way, helpful as always.

a45heaven as advised before, if you purchase a Simple Delivery label, you are protected from the point the item is scanned into the carrier's delivery network for damaged items or lost in transit items, you don't have to worry about the rest (including refunds), as we deal with the carrier directly. For futher info, you can click here.

Thank you,

Marco

I wasn't trying to contradict you; I apologise if that was the impression I gave. However, in your earlier reply you stated "it looks like the shipping label didn't go through us". I just felt that might be confusing for the OP as they would likely interpret "us" as meaning "it looks like the shipping label didn't go through eBay" rather than "it looks like the shipping label didn't go through Packlink". The OP knows they purchased the label via eBay but was clearly unaware that meant their contract for the shipping was direct with RMG/Parcelforce rather than eBay or Packlink. Even seasoned posters (including myself) weren't sure whether their claim needed to be raised through Packlink or Parcelforce.

Anyway; thank you for posting and clarifying. I'm pretty sure @fatfingers73 knows where to direct their claim now!

Re: Parcel contents stolen

So parcelforce finally got back to me with this message:

The delivery depot advised they did not change the label of this parcel and they delivered it as received.

So it looks like I've lost my sonos soundbar and £300. Never again will I send a high value item through the post. I'm absolutely gutted 😞

Well, of course they did..... they weren't going to say 'sorry mate we nicked it' ...☹️
