Hello community. So why would eBay put peoples payments on hold . I would understand if there was something wrong but I couldn't do anymore than I have done already. Now I can't ship any items and have 5 buyers who I had to message to tell them I can't ship anything so dispatch is now late , 1 buyer wanted a refund . It's ironic how eBay do this and end up ruining peoples experience and also making me look bad as buyers want their items . And shocking communication , takes up to 5 working days but I'm sill waiting 5 days and 6th day tomorrow. No contact from them or any request for any credentials . Shocking!

I joined eBay to sell my personal possessions to raise some extra funds . I can't understand why they do this

It's to protect buyers from new sellers like yourself.
Unfortunately some new accounts try to get buyers to pay ,don't actually send anything but hope to get the payment anyway.
If you send an item and enter the tracking number as soon as you send ,your payment may be released earlier.
If you cancel a sale you may get a defect for doing so and if you do that too often Ebay may suspend you from selling completely.
P.S. Stating "no returns" means nothing if a buyer claims not as described.
See Ebay's "money Back Guarantee" which is at top right on MOST (Not ALL) listings.

After a break and as a returning Seller, your payments are liable to eBay Hold periods of up to 21 days >

What are you going to do with the two auctions with bids that are still running?
Sending sold items out late will probably attract defects on your service metrics
and could possibly end up with ebay suspending your account or charging you
more in fees.

Be careful here, you'll end up with 5 defects against your selling account, which will result in an indefinite ban, and any linked accounts (same household or shared devices) will also receive bans.

Yes I wouldn't be surprised if eBay punishes me after restricting my account . Although I did contact them a day after (23rd) and explained the situation throughly but they wasn't slightly interested, not even interested in the buyers who have also spent time and money on winning items, simply said " you contact them " I cannot be held accountable for the lack of support . My only option is to contact eBay and ask them for their opinion and help and support. I am not a business.

I have no options unfortunately. All eBay told me todo is contact them and explain there would be a delay which I have. Live chat informed me account would be unrestricted and funds released after 00:00 29th march . So I would be able to ship items today 1st march ..... but still the same, so again I'm unable to ship items today. Maybe they want me to look bad who knows . I'm Sorry to the buyers I do sincerely apologise

As has been explained, you need to ship the items before receiving payment.
For new and infrequent sellers, this is simply how eBay works - they want to be sure that you are sending buyers their items.
Assuming you have linked and verified a bank account to eBay in order to receive funds from sales, then as a new or infrequent seller your money may be placed on hold (usually 21 days), but a tracking number showing delivery or your buyer leaving feedback will usually release the payment sooner (after 7 days).
There is little point in contacting eBay CS about this because there'll be nothing they can do here. This is the process.
If you are unable to send your items out then I'd pull any current listings before the situation gets worse, though I do feel that too much damage has been done to prevent your seller peformance standards from slipping below an acceptable level and closing your seller account.

To clarify, eBay is just a selling platform, it's not a sentient AI messing around with some ulterior motive.
Nobody wants sellers to look bad (this reflects on the buying experience), and this is why there are safeguards in place for new and infrequent sellers - to get paid they have to ensure that the items are sent out on time, that they are arrive by the estimated delivery date showing on the order and that they are as described.
Your buyers will not see your apology here. If you wish to contact them you must do so direct via the 'Contact Buyer' link that is located on the order details.

Wow, that was superfast. I just hope that nobody else in the household is now caught in any fallout.

Not unexpected. I think the op left it late to come here.

I've had this tonight, been selling for 3 months great feedback all tracked service ect.
" ebay may release funds "? So there is a chance they won't?
As far I understand funds will be released once the item is delivered.. Now this relies on postman marking it as delivered and the buyer being honest / leaving feedback.

Also been sending items no problems great feedback.
what happened in the end? Should I send my item or cancel the order?

If you're a new seller or have taken a break from selling, then there is an automatic hold on funds to initially protect buyers. However, even though you have payments are on hold within your selling account, there is absolutely no reason why you shouldn't be sending out the items people have paid for?
If you send items and put in a tracking number for each on your selling page, the hold is usually shortend and then again when feedback or some feedback is left. It gives the eBays system an indication of what type of seller you are, regardless of whether you are new or returned from a break from selling.
Be careful because the longer you leave sending any item, the more likely you are to receive defects on your selling account.
