No longer an option to switch to Custom Postage

I like to post everything via Royal Mail's site, and pay for postage via paypal. I sold an item at the weekend, and when I went to sort out delivery, the delivery type had changed to Simple Delivery with no way to change to Custom Postage. I checked all my listings, and they've all been changed to Simple Delivery now, with a blue banner at the top of my editing page saying "This listing has been updated to be posted with Simple Delivery. Your dispatch time is now 2 days". I have tried changing to Collection Only, then back to Postage and Collection, as others say has worked for them. But Simple Delivery is the only option. Is this the next thing ebay is going to force on us in return for "no fees"?

Re: No longer an option to switch to Custom Postage

I have a private account I skipped Stupid Delivery and bought straight from RM  and added tracking into eBay.

Re: No longer an option to switch to Custom Postage

But I have a private account and no option to use anything but Simple Delivery. My husband has a private account and he can use it. It seems very strange that I can't though.

Re: No longer an option to switch to Custom Postage

Unfortunately Simple Delivery is slowly but surely catching up with all private sellers now, & the option for Custom Postage is being removed, for most items.

I daresay there will be quite a number who are only just discovering that Simple Delivery will be forced onto them, like it or not... hence all the many complaints & comments about this topic.

Re: No longer an option to switch to Custom Postage

It seems like its only a matter of time until we just enter an item description, and they will complete the listing without any involvement from the seller at all. I get the feeling that there is something more sinister going on behind the scenes.

Re: No longer an option to switch to Custom Postage

But there is no option in simple delivery to send a large item (large than 61, 46, 46 cm) and get that collected. I simply cannot sell on ebay if they do this. It doesn't even give me the option for collection only. I meant what the heck is going on?

Re: No longer an option to switch to Custom Postage

For what you’re mainly selling you don’t qualify for custom postage

it needs to be under a tenner under 100g and max large letter

Re: No longer an option to switch to Custom Postage

Over medium parcel size that was supposed to read

so basically you can’t use your own postage for things ebay say you can’t

theres workarounds though  🤭

Your  shouldn’t need them if your parcel is small or medium as ebays simple delivery system has cheaper prices than going direct to RM

eg small parcel is 3.38 here 3.45 with Royal Mail

0-1 kg medium 3.64 when rm is 5,15

problem is you can’t add for packaging and other things

Re: No longer an option to switch to Custom Postage

I've got a mixture of both being able to have Custom Postage on some listings and only eBay Simple available on others because eBay are experimenting at the moment! Crazy! Simple delivery takes 1-2 days longer to arrive:-( I took 2 parcels to the PO both going to the same area. 1 custom postage the other eBay simple postage and the eBay simple postage took 2 days longer on a 48 hour tracked RM service! 🙄 I give in! 😫🙄

Re: No longer an option to switch to Custom Postage

No option to use own postage now. Ebay are simply making money.
Just sold something which needed RM medium parcel 10Kg - previously this would have cost £6.80 and I would usually list a bit more to take into account packing etc.
Ebay SD took £9.00 from buyer  for postage.
