NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

AS OF 15TH APRIL MY DAYS AS A PRIVATE EBAY SELLER WILL STOP AFTER 19 YEARS.

I AM FED UP OF THE GREED OF EBAY AND I HOPE OTHER EBAY SELLERS DECIDE TO NO LONGER LET THE EBAY CONTROL FREAKS HAVE THIS MUCH CONTROL OVER PRIVATE SELLERS.

NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

I've just cleared my watch list and only have 1 item on it.

That'll most probably be the last thing I buy on here.

The combination of Simple Delivery, Ebay, and Evri has totally ended any thoughts of selling on here again.

NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

I've got a musical instrument to sell and prior to SD, I wouldn't have thought of putting it anywhere else but on ebay.  I looked at the aforementioned site a month a two ago but there didn't seem to be a market for musical instruments.  Wow, what a difference a month or two makes.  I've just had another look and each sub-group now has hundreds of instruments for sale.  Granted it's still a drop in the ocean compared with the numbers on ebay, but considering they've come from a standing start and haven't got ebay's 30 year history, I think it's pretty impressive how this category has grown exponentially in just the last couple of months.  Perhaps ebay is working on something behind the scenes to counter this threat, but they'd better be quick.

NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

I listed a keyboard on ebay after trying on FB marketplace & it sold within hours but I selected the correct weight on SD for evri which the buyer chose but the PO refuses to take it - parcel is too big - Now I found out evri won't insure musical instruments & because I cannot change the SD label. I will try the shop that takes evri but that's another trip to town with the parcel strapped to my trolley. If i want to sell keyboards again (which are personal items) on ebay I'd need a business account unless they sell on V & you can set the correct postage there.

The keyboards I'm trying to sell are personal items will have to be sold on a B ebay account even though they're personal items. Also for such big parcels I would usually get the courier to pick up from me but on SD you can't apart from RM  but unless SD uses parcelforce cant do that either and will the buyer pay more for the post anyway.

If it’s simple delivery and it’s an Evri label that eBay supply it doesn’t really matter if Evri don’t cover musical instruments. In the event of loss or damage, it’s not Evri you claim from. It’s eBay.

As for Vinted you can’t select your own postage there either, it is in effect the same as Simple Delievry, though you can select from more postage options (I leave them all on. 90% of customers pick Evri)

Correction: cameras are insured on the buyers' side because you have the Money Back Guarantee. If it doesn't arrive, open a case for not received. If it arrives damaged, open a return case BUT select "damaged in transit" as the return reason and both buyer and seller will be covered.

Ebay may not be covered by Evri, however with the huge reduction in shipping costs they have secured, I doubt they will care about having to pay up themselves once or twice.

I just cant believe they paid these executives huge, sickly sums of money for brain storming this idea and then delved in and spent time into research and study to make sure everything was smooth to proceed into announcements and implementation.  After the huge effort and money spent they come up with this idea! Ebay must be a total shambles internally, like a rudderless ship without a captain.

NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

I posted last week that I was opening a personal account to sell non business items on ebay which represents my first feel for SD as a private seller.

First item sells and the only option I get is EVRI, the least likely courier I would use as a business seller for good reasons. I did want to send it with Royal Mail as we do daily for website and ebay orders but that wasn't an option.

What made it worse was having to take it to a drop off point five miles away, no collect option either. We have daily collections by Royal Mail from the business premises, so this was a right hassle.

I have a few more listings live and some others to list, I'm really thinking just use my business account from now on.

I can't see any advantage to the seller whatsoever? it just makes things complicated with very limited options.  Thankfully this item was small, I dread to think what happens for larger/heavier items, and I have serious trust issues with the likes of Yodel and EVRI for higher value sales.

In RMs defence on the app it does list what the maximum sizes and weights
are for the various categories of postage. Parcel Force accommodate larger
parcels but tend to be more expensive. They both have compensation schemes
and list exceptions quite plainly. Have you tried a local man with van?

No that would cost more than the item is worth & it's Leicester not Notts & the buyer paid ebay the postage not me as it wasn't freepost

You can change your settings to RM only (although ebay may override this on occasions).

Yes I will have to convert to a business account (which I used to have years ago but was hacked into)  but will have to take down all my low value personal items first. I have someone who has things to sell I can sell on their behalf which I can't do on my private accnt & if the items are non standard sizes to would be very expensive to sell on SD as well

NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

I wonder if I am living in a different universe to you all. At the beginning of April I took all my listings off here. I had been using the platform for years, starting firstly when my husband decided to sell off his vinyl collection. Without realising it at the time he had bought with pocket money, birthday money and then his salary some pretty valuable stuff. Similarly the collection of Cornish Ware we had amassed since we got married. Nowadays he sells the cds he replaced his vinyl with and books he’s read. I sell clothes I’m fed up with and the grandchildren’s out grown clothes.
A month ago I decided to dip my toe in the water again, quickly gave up on the clothing items because the views on them were minimal and started to use the other place. All I can say is that for these items it has been amazing eBay has a long way to go to copy them. Listing is easy and straightforward. I’ve limited my postage options to Royal Mail and Evri which suits my convenience and select the medium postage size (which equates to a Royal Mail small parcel) for almost everything.I have no idea what the buyer selects until the item has sold and I receive the QR code.
The vast majority of my 38 sales so far have been sent by Evri to various locations up and down the country and without a word of a lie all of them have arrived quickly and without issue.
I may be slightly different than a lot of you because I’m not bothered about how much postage costs my buyers or the buyer protection fee - if some one wants an item enough they will be prepared to pay.
The items I’ve used eBay for have been books and cds. I can’t say they haven’t sold because they have, but there is always a worry when it comes to postage choice. Of those we’ve sold we’ve used a mixture of simple delivery - either we pay or the buyer does, or just sending them by Royal Mail (my own choice of courier) with proof of postage. Again, like with Vinted most buyers have opted for Evri and again they have all arrived in a timely manner.
Payment wise I’ve found no difference between either platform in receiving payment of transferring the money into my bank account. I don’t feel either keeps hold of it for an unreasonably long time
To sum up I like the other place better for the items I’m selling now but I wouldn’t choose either if I was selling items like my Cornish Ware collection as I would want to have more control over postage.
It may well be that the other place’s decision to widen its selling categories will not be its wisest move and will bring with it all the postage problems and disgruntled sellers that there are on here for items that don't conform to the postage contracts they’ve negotiated.
For the time being I’ll keep on doing what I’m doing and sell what few items I have on both but I’ll certainly be having a closer look at the competitor site.

Agreed...just think of all the hoops they've made us jump through this year - Simple Delivery,Buyer Protection fees, wanting our personal details etc etc...and for what exactly?...my sales are now non-existent.

As are my purchases.

ebay is run by clowns.

NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

I had an item of some tubes of adhesive that I got off Ebay  The  parcel was delivered by EVRI yesterday whilst I was out. It was left on the doorstep with a photograph, when I picked it up I found a BIG HOLE in the box and two of the tubes of adhesive  were missing The driver had photographed the box with the damage at the bottom so it couldn't be seen... I contacted EVRI and they said to contact the Seller.. I have sent them a message  but as yet they haven't replied This is the reason I will NEVER USE EVRI

NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

I will never sell on ebay again while there is the remotest chance that Evri will get near a item of mine because of Simple Delivery.

Evri have had a package for me for 5 days now which is a total farce.

Simple Delivery is by far and away the worst thing ebay have done.

Once I've eventually got my things I'm done with ebay and Simple Delivery.

NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

It's  really frustrating that I can't say what my honest thoughts are regarding Simple Delivery and ebay nowadays.

Simple Delivery and all the related money grab things that have been introduced, and the lack of choices has made this site not fit to use anymore.
