AS OF 15TH APRIL MY DAYS AS A PRIVATE EBAY SELLER WILL STOP AFTER 19 YEARS.
I AM FED UP OF THE GREED OF EBAY AND I HOPE OTHER EBAY SELLERS DECIDE TO NO LONGER LET THE EBAY CONTROL FREAKS HAVE THIS MUCH CONTROL OVER PRIVATE SELLERS.

Nothing surprises me here anymore.
I still create dummy listings to see what the latest situation is and it is still a complete joke.
Simple Delivery and all of the other things involved with Selling and buying on here really does show that this platform does not give a jot about it's users at all anymore, and it's only concern is making as much money as it can from it's users anyway it can.

I like your post.
Until common sense is actually used here i will not have Simple Delivery forced on me, and i will not let this platform have as much control over me as they seem to want.
A lot of other places are now getting the money i would have spent on here, and it's this platforms loss.

Same for me, now 80+ items to list, and I can't. I am not risking in Xmas time other messes, plus I am trying to save this Xmas, I am moving back on the other platform where I am, I don't enter there in a while, I need to update the listings or make them again if expired, I made Ebay my main one, I liked it more then the other ones, I can't believe I have been offered more elsewhere, and I used to move some sales here, now i have to tell buyers I cannot post here. What a mess. Ebay is going to lose lots of money with sellers like us not selling anymore, I can't believe they don't realise that. I also withdrawn all the money I happily kept and spent here, this might become my next ghost platform, plus there are so many few lists from private seller and I search a lot them, since I like not in fashion or original things, most of them shops does not sell it anymore. And maybe I had have more buyers this years cause I was one of the few to have Simple Delivery enforced just few days ago, so they bought from me, I am already looking for what I need or like elsewhere since here there is poor selection now. Just 3 pages, hence once there were more then 10, I couldn't check all the listings available, I had to stop at some point. I also saw in America there is another mess Ebay did with Business sellers, but it is not the Simple Delivery, I have to follow up, but it seems they had hidden cost for promoting adds, hidden until customer pay, and then they found out, promoting or not is the same. I just think they want to squeeze the most possible from Ebay in this year, and then they will sell it to someone else before they realise it is becoming unpopular, I don't explain all this desruption, Worldwide.

I cannot sell badminton raquets on here now as SD are trying to charge £12.97 postage to send (they are long) which I know buyers wont pay. So I posted one on vinted for £5 (less than here) the postage was £5.60 a great price for the item yet the buyer sent an offer for only £3 so not great on vinted either. The thing with vinted is to ask more for your items as buyers keep sending silly offers so can be misers just like here. & you cannot stop offers only ignore them but they you don't sell the said items it's catch 22
I've had so much hassle trying to sell other raquets on here with a buyer having to cancel an order due to postage being wrong & couldn't change it to a reasonable amount due to SD

To save me wading through this thread, has anyone had success with selling on here, and booking a royal mail collection where they bring a label?
If so, how did it work for you please? Better to do it on a laptop than android app? Cheers

This monster thread is more of a general vent, moan and rage-room about S.D. !
If you have a particular question and can't find an answer on any existing threads, you'll definitely have more luck starting your own 'question thread'....
But as far as your app or laptop query goes: thing seem to work better on a lap-top, on the whole...

I use a tablet. Sales are far slower since simple delivery. I have booked free royal mail collection with them bringing the label. After a sale, in order to get that you need to click on book collection before clicking on get label otherwise it doesn't work.

sales have been far slower even for items that are exempt from SD

I give up. Only sell occasionly. Used to be able to opt out of SD.
trying with collection only. But making it clear in title and listing items are uk freepost.
bit risky as I will need a collection code either before posting or when buyer receives

I think sales are on the critical list at the minute. I just no longer have the inclination to even list anymore.
If i cannot sell an excellent condition sterling silver cleopatra necklace at less than scrap value.......something is so so wrong on the site. (according to Ebay it just had two views in 5 days)

have can can can

There seems to be a direct correlation with the sheer amount of emails from ebay saying pay us extra and we will boost your listings, and severe lack of views/sales if you don't pay more. For me all trust in the site has gone

I found the same thing back in 2024. I wouldn't pay to promote so pieces of vintage glass that sold regularly elsewhere got very few views on ebay.
What, to me, gave the game away was when I listed a "Brandenburg" bowl made by Walther & Sohne at £15, few views and no bids. Re-listed as BIN at the same price for 2 x 30 day cycles, again few views until eventually it sold.
Anything made by Walther and so rarely seen should get views, even if not one of the very popular iconic designs. There are a lot of keen collectors of Walther glass and they would at least be viewing anything that is rarely seen outside of I.D sites.
Only my opinion but something so rarely seen at such a modest price should have sold and fast. If not at auction, then at least during the first month of BIN, not take six weeks with hardly any interest before someone found it, wherever it was hidden and bought it at the asking price.

meaning? I have no clue what that means sorry

I do sometimes wonder if i am listing my quality items too cheaply and thats why they are not selling?
Maybe buyers are questioning in their heads why they are listed so cheaply.
The answer is......most is inherited.

yep some youtubers highlight this & have noticed this self I don't get as much for things.
Now we have simply delivery I have given up with ebay .

I wonder the same thing, especially when I see the same items selling, sometimes for multiples of the price I'm asking.
Most of what I have for sale are items I bought years ago, many during periods when Art Deco was going through one of its less popular phases. House clearers in London would practically give them away and sometimes, if I'd bought a piece of furniture, would literally give me the glass just to get rid of it.
I usually price research on ebay, etsy and google shopping and price mine at around the middle to low end of the range as I'm not trying to make a profit, just down-size to ease house clearing for younger members of my family who will be stuck with it when I'm gone.
I think you might be right when many buyers have become conditioned to the higher prices demanded by (often) business sellers who Sponsor as a matter of course and whack up their prices to cover the outlay. I wouldn't say my items are cheap or under-priced, just reasonable considering what I paid and what it costs me to sell, pack and post the items. I'm sure that most buyers are not aware that 15 - 25% of what they're paying for a more expensive, but identical item, is fees in one form or another.
