AS OF 15TH APRIL MY DAYS AS A PRIVATE EBAY SELLER WILL STOP AFTER 19 YEARS.
I AM FED UP OF THE GREED OF EBAY AND I HOPE OTHER EBAY SELLERS DECIDE TO NO LONGER LET THE EBAY CONTROL FREAKS HAVE THIS MUCH CONTROL OVER PRIVATE SELLERS.

Think the problem is ebay is taking away private sellers ability to use couriers who can and will ship this stuff, or maybe they're not, who knows..... not us, maybe not ebay either.

I think they are in the dark as much as we are. This is all as clear as pea green soup.

I'm so glad I'm not listing anything or selling anything for the foreseeable future. All of this would cause a meltdown lol.

Same here, I really hope the 💩 hits the fan for these dictators maybe then they'll realise what a 🐓 up they've made.

We have changed our shipping to Royal Mail only. We are in the process of getting an Evri label changed to 2 x Royal Mail up to 2kg (well we can only hope) CS say their specialist team have to contact Royal Mail to organise and that takes time 'be patient' lol lol. It helps us that the tea set was marked as 2 small parcels before ebay changed it to Evri so they know we are not trying it on. They are passing on my complaint 😂 I pointed out that without 'simple delivery' the parcels would already be on their way to the buyer. Before ebay did this they should have shadowed a few private sellers to understand the process. I should have placed a bet that we would sell something after at least 3 years as soon as SD started to a 0 feedback buyer up north..almost wonder if this is a test.

I have no intention of relisting anything for the foreseeable future.
Good luck to those who continue to list during this absolute mess. At the rate things are going they will not please anyone at anytime. I've got enough sense to avoid this Cost Of Ebay Crisis. The Cost Of Living Crisis matters more to me.

I won't be listing anything again ever. Does ebay think I'm a performing seal? Why anyone would put up with this sort of cr*p to sell a few items a year is beyond me.
We're treated as if we're all potential money launderers, tax evaders, fee evaders, con artists and thieves. Too stupid to post stuff to anyone daft enough to risk buying from us without a robot minder to hold our hand a guide us to get it right.
Perhaps some are willing to put up with it even after realising that all the new hoops and restrictions are just a smokescreen. Everyone running round like headless chickens worrying themselves sick about parcel sizes and whether a 100g envelope is an 85p letter or a 2.79 L. Letter, supposed to hold up to 1 Kilo in weight (you have got to be joking to even suggest it). Ebay is laughing its head off as it counts how much more it's going to be squeezing you and your buyers for.
Get a grip and tell them where to put this idiocy.

You are right about things.
All I used to do was go on to the RM site. Pay for a Large Letter using 48hr Tracked. Chose the heaviest weight of 750g. They collected the next day and brought the label. All for £2.70.
Now that was Simple.

What announcements says;
We are making a change to the way Royal Mail 1st and 2nd Class Letter/Large Letter services are being shown on eBay. From *Wednesday 23rd April 2025, the following changes will take place when choosing a service in the delivery details of your listings:
There are no changes to the maximum weight, dimensions and delivery times outlined by Royal Mail for 1st Class Letter, 1st Class Large Letter, 2nd Class Letter and 2nd Class Large Letter. Please refer to Royal Mail’s website for more details on 1st Class and 2nd Class services.
This change was made to provide clarity to buyers on the service their item will be delivered with. Live listings and re-listed items will continue to use the “Letter/Large Letter” service until they are revised, so please ensure you have the correct service selected on your listings to ensure the delivery estimates are accurate for your buyers. This change will not apply when using Simple Delivery.
So my clarity is we have to custom change for large letter say 2nd class and put a weight and the 100g doesnt apply as we are directed to RM's services. So buyer will be charged post to or account and we buy postage providing we have opted out of SD or the AI robot decides we arent doing SD. Or buyer is charged we get a LL label ????
But where is mention of SD being mandatory which they say it is?
Hope everyone is clear now 🤣

About as clear as a brick wall.

Let’s hope there will be another round of complaints then, as it seems to me that some people have decided to list regardless of the problems.
I've been away from this thread for a couple of weeks as the SD announcement was the final straw to encourage me to signup with the place ebay are doing a bad impression of as at least it's the real deal.
I've had good success buying stuff as the buyer tax is lower, the postage always reasonable and the sellers tend to be setting lower prices for whatever reason. In some categories the choice has even been better than ebay and I have found items that I was previously unable to find here.
I moved a few existing long-term stagnant listings to that place using the same photos etc and they have had an encouraging number of views, watchers and sales. I even tried relisting at increased prices where I felt that I had dropped them too low here and I have still been able to sell them.
However I will not leave here completely as there are categories not on the other site (by design, as part of their 'vision' apparently) and my strategy is now to be multi-channel and choose which site gets each listing (I don't think it's right to list the same item on both sites to avoid disappointing buyers if both listings sell) and I am never again putting all my faith into a single platform.
As such I have put my remaining items back on sale here but will be gradually moving more listings to the other place. Once SD hits me I might reconsider that and pull my listings again.
Hopefully market forces and perhaps authorities will cause ebay to reconsider their poor decisions.
I am still of the view ebay are being incredibly greedy, stupid and inconsiderate.
23-04-2025 6:25 PM
Inconsiderate, thoughtless, insensitive, unsympathetic, uncaring, yes I have had the thesaurus out but if the cap fits.

I've done similar with chainsaws when sending via courier, I just rename them
"arboricultural equipment" that gets past the bots

Exactly noticed the same Evri parcel is 2.94 but SD EBAY charged me 3.46

A lot of your items will be able to be sent same old way if they’re under 100g and £10 and fit into a letter or padded envelope (though seems jury’s out on the latter though it must be in my mind ok seeing as they’ve included dvds and ornaments wallets and all sorts !)
ebay have now published what categories and items will be exempt if they fulfill the weight and price limit though they haven’t finished the list yet
https://www.ebay.co.uk/sellercentre/postage/simple-delivery
scroll, down to which listings are not required to use simple delivery

Sorry if this has been answered comprehensively before but is it <100g AND less than £10 or <100g OR large letter to avoid simple delivery?
A lot of dvds and cds i sell are around 125g but most are sub £10 - i've no idea what the rules are. i've put my store on holiday for a month but i think at this rate i'm just going to cancel everything and go list them elsewhere. I offer free postage and take on the cost but i cant see anywhere what SD will charge me for my current listings,

“AAAH...I think that I have noticed these from time to time but, as I don't sell guns or dynamite or similar it doesn't really apply to me!!!“
Its not just guns and dynamite though. You do have pottery and very valuable antique books, both of which are on the restricted lists for ‘no compensation’.
A lot of your items are high value so it might be as well to be aware of these lists and not assume that only weapons are on them.
I was surprised to see when I was selling here that ‘shoes’ are on the restricted list for Evri.
I mean this kindly, do you have anyone to help you with your ebaying? Not every user is a good person, your items are high value and from your posts here you seem like you might be quite vulnerable.
