NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

AS OF 15TH APRIL MY DAYS AS A PRIVATE EBAY SELLER WILL STOP AFTER 19 YEARS.

I AM FED UP OF THE GREED OF EBAY AND I HOPE OTHER EBAY SELLERS DECIDE TO NO LONGER LET THE EBAY CONTROL FREAKS HAVE THIS MUCH CONTROL OVER PRIVATE SELLERS.

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

Yes, I got a totally unexpected postage refund today for what seemed no reason.

Had to scroll through my purchases to find what I had bought on the date it referred to back in March - which was before we were even told that Simple Delivery was going to be mandatory.

There was no indication in the listing that Simple Delivery was to be involved. The  item was received within 3 days of purchase - and still before we were told that Simple Delivery was due to be coming in and there was absolutely no indication on the Royal Mail delivery label that Simple Delivery was involved. So, it would seem like if it was involved then the seller either didn't realise or did not use the SD label.

I never expected to get a refund on this purchase at all. The whole system is a total mess.

And, I am glad that I suspended my listings while I see how all this pans out ....... if it ever does.

But, with the way things are going on here, the old adage of "Buyer Beware" has become more a case of "Seller Beware" with all these changes!

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

That is disgusting of them.

It's just plain poor planning. I'd contact CS and ask why they have made the measurements smaller. Plus with things changing literally every day they might realise they need to put those measurements back in.

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

You are totally right. I will not list another item on here until some sensible changes are made and because I don't agree with BPF being added on to a sellers price I'm hardly buying either.

Ebay cs are totally useless they give out a mixture of deliberate lies and inaccurate information.

You might as well ring the speaking clock.

That doesn't really surprise me tbh. A classic case of the right hand not knowing what the left hand is doing.

Their only real defence would be to be honest and just say sorry but we don't know the answer yet.

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

Thanks for posting - I did it and ended my listings on eBay - over nearly 25 years its become more and more greedy, bloated, patronising, and 'tricky'. I had a final flurry of quite pleasant activity around Christmas and the New Year - everything worked well.  I thought I could off-load a lot more of my accumulated bits and pieces. The BPF (total bs of course) and SD just too messy, and make selling small things just not worth it - guess that's the plan.

I see someone started a partition - I wish them well - but  I'd rather vote with my feet.
So I resurrected an  eBid account and feeling happier in myself I've done something- I hope many more people do and some alternatives -whichever they are -can prosper instead.  They'll only be viable if a whole load of people do it. Maybe a good time to try - less competition - sponsorship not pushing your listings to the bottom of searches.

And,  ending my auctions, I deleted about 300 watched items and 30 or so saved searches at the same time, so its an ill wind that blows no good as they say,.. Less money in this private sellers pocket to indulge with and less time spent mooching on eBay, I'll just save some money.

Spent longer than I wanted writing this but reading the posts over the last few days made so sad I can't help thinking eBay really doesn't deserve these good people.

best wishes and good luck everyone
S

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

Thank you for the post.

It's a shame that these recent changes have affected you, me, and many others. All these changes have just left a lot of sellers and buyers with a sour taste in our mouths.

Good luck on the other platform though.

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

If it’s larger than a medium parcel you can send custom

look at the bottom of the page that details sizes and weights

it says switch to custom

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

Considering Ebay will be keeping an eye on this post you think they might wake up to the fact you simply cannot treat customers this badly and expect it not to have long term repercussions  on their business  and every day they let this fester it will get worse and worse .

The  very well  known company  I used to work for monitored Forums like this and social Media 24/7 and if Ebay aren't It would unbelievable , but then isn't that the problem already. Ebay are Simple Unbelievable   🙂

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

Funnily enough I was so mad at not being able to find out what the sliding scale of charges is, they have it on as...'up to 75p for the item + 3.6 (or 4, cannot recall now)% of the selling price. I had got mad at trying to find out how an item at £4, for e.g. seemed to have 50% added yet when one got to, say £50. it dropped to around 5%. The very pleasant Dori from Bulgaria tried to explain but even he did not know how the "up to...." worked out, anyhow he started an "official complaint"  for me!!!

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

Not selling I had  not seen that page before, 1st hand  .    Does anyone at Ebay actually have a clue about anything

Just specifying Medium Parcels size for anything  thicker than an inch is mental . You could fit 75 smartphones in their original packing in a box that size

This really is never going to work

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

"The 100g weight limit is no longer mentioned."

Assuming they are sticking with large letters needing to be sent via Simple Delivery, they don't really need to mention the 100g limit as (small) letters are capped at 100g by Royal Mail anyway.

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

I'm with you on this one completely, been with eBay 24 years with nearly 6000 feedbacks, always trying to give excellent service to customers - prices, packing, delivery - always using Royal Mail and getting a proof of posting in case of those very rare cases of something being lost, when I refund the customer and claim from Royal Mail, never a problem with that. But it's too late now, I removed all my items from eBay at the beginning of April and have no intention of putting them back. IF eBay go back to seller fees, AND abandon the so-called simple delivery, I MAY go back to using eBay, but only then. Quite clearly they don't want private sellers.

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

But the price won’t be for medium parcel even it says max dimension = medium parcel

if it’s under 2kg it will be small parcel price

and if your parcel is actually a medium parcel under 2kg ebay  take the hit

Yes I know confusion reigns

it’s not a great system but if it doesn’t overcharge it can work but only when it’s  been explained properly in FULL and it HASNT plus

it IS overcharging at the moment though on parcels ver 2 and under 10

around 4 quid

they haven’t “got round to sorting that one yet”

For some reason

oh well goodnight hopefully we will all help each other tomorrow again

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

EBay are now saying dvds and other items can go custom

many of those  can’t go in an envelope they need a large letter ergo large letters are ok to go custom

See simple delivery on help pages and scroll down to q & a about what can be excluded from SD

they do still mention the 100g from everything I’ve read

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

I agree with you on those points. They would need to take some backward steps for me to consider selling again and they need to get rid of BPF because that's stopping me from buying like I used to.

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

Been wondering if buyers know the price they see includes the BPF or if they think the fee will be added after purchasing an item.

Wonder if its worth mentioning on listings.

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

I just cannot work out this SD  I am putting nearly everything straight through to R.Mail. I have everything collected by them anyway as it takes me over an hour to make a trip to the Post office & if it is /was raining then even more misery. So one has to put stuff through their site to have it ratified.  And much stuff they surmise wd be large letter,   isn't .What are they aiming at anyway?  It does take a little extra time but better than be pulled along by the nose.
