NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

AS OF 15TH APRIL MY DAYS AS A PRIVATE EBAY SELLER WILL STOP AFTER 19 YEARS.

I AM FED UP OF THE GREED OF EBAY AND I HOPE OTHER EBAY SELLERS DECIDE TO NO LONGER LET THE EBAY CONTROL FREAKS HAVE THIS MUCH CONTROL OVER PRIVATE SELLERS.

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

If I am sending something fragile like a teapot, I will be using a bigger box than eBays recommendation of a box thats  'slightly larger' and I would not be using tissue paper for it either.

As we can no longer charge for packaging, whos paying for it all?  Its bad enough the selling price being inflated with BPF.

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

You can over ride "Simple Delivery" and choose custom postage with Royal Mail or alternative and select tracked method of postage. You specify the postage cost that should allow for any postage material cost and he cost of actual postage will be what ever the carrier charges, e.g. Royal Mail small parcel 48 hour tracked up to 2KG £3.45 from 1st April 2025. Other if you use Simple Delivery the buyer pays way over this just for the postage (no packing cost included) + VAT at 20%, you have to swallow the packing material cost or allow for this in your selling price which with the inclusion of "Buyer Protection" makes you item overpriced. Both buyers and sellers will leave eBay to find other ways to buy and sell. Who will be the ultimate loser here? I am sure eBay will amend their policies when their overall revenue drops.

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

The roll out is slow but officially you can’t now overide simple delivery. I haven’t been able to since last weekend.

I also disagree that they will ever go back on this, the planning will have taken years (although it looks like a rushed process) and the contracts involved must be huge.

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

If you send a fragile item and it arrives broken am I right in my
interpretation that EBAY will pay the compensation costs?

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

To follow on from my previous post, I have just spoken to my local postmistress and she is totally unaware of the existence of SD, but as she couldn't even be bothered to reply in anything more articulate than a grunt. I doubt that she reads any of the internal bulletins.

Does anybody know what date the announcement went out to PO counters, so i can tell her to refer to it, as I'm banging my head against a wall with this.

The next nearest post office is a 30 mile round trip and I refuse point blank to use evri

And we had a whole thread about posting teapots on here just 4 or 5 days ago of course!

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

Just checked a draft I've left sitting there for an item which would be sent as a <1Kg Small Parcel, and 'Custom Postage' is still available, complete with my choice of Yodel as the carrier...

"will pay" is optimistic - 'might pay' may be more accurate...

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

So long as your post using a tracked service, eBay will release payments within 48 Hours. If they do not, they know they are trading illegally.

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

This is the way to go top over ride "Simple Delivery".

I am no sure whether eBay can legally on offer Simple Delivery as the only shipping option, hence the current method to over ride it with custom delivery, but everyone knows this as shipping will automatically default to Simple Delivery.

If using custom delivery, make sure you use a tracked method of postage so there are no issue with eBay holding back payments for sold items.

There is a way to over ride "Simple Delivery" and chose custom delivery as an option when listing an item. Just change it when setting up the shipping in the new listing.

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

Hi Ron,

It is debatable whether eBay will pay any compensation costs whatsoever.

You would have to show how the item was packed and they will always say you need to claim against the carrier.

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

No way WILL I PAY Ebay anything I don't have to.. If I have to wait 14 days
for the payment to reach me.. No worries I only used to get my payments
every month in the previous regime.

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

I can still use custom delivery. As can many others. Some clarity on the situation from eBay would be appreciated asap.

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

I did take all of my listings off on Sunday, but after reading here that the SD hadn't kicked in, I decided to relist a couple to see how it went. After relisting a couple, and was still able to custom postage, put a few more up. Maybe I'll just hang on in there until it comes in.

I'm the same as yourself thou, buyer protection fee has killed it for me too!!

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

My draft is for an unsold item that ended on Sunday, and which I re-created via 'Sell Similar' (my usual re-listing method) to have sat there for experimental purposes - as a next step I may actually make it 'live' to watch what happens, and if it then gets sucked into the SD debacle, I'll pull it...

Now instead of it being done on the 15th they are rolling it out keeping us in permanent suspense as to when it will actually become mandatory

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

It is very debatable whether eBay will pay out compensation in the future with the idiotic Buyers Protection Fee.  They will continue to point you to seek compensation through the carrier you used.

The loathsome Simple Delivery will continue to present problems with incorrectly printed labels regardless of contracts eBay have reportably set up with carriers and Royal Mail.

More disturbingly is that any chance of eBay back tracking on these recent “new rules” can be forgotten.  They have never heard of the word, sorry

What are they able to do regarding any future occasional sellers promotions ?
