AS OF 15TH APRIL MY DAYS AS A PRIVATE EBAY SELLER WILL STOP AFTER 19 YEARS.
I AM FED UP OF THE GREED OF EBAY AND I HOPE OTHER EBAY SELLERS DECIDE TO NO LONGER LET THE EBAY CONTROL FREAKS HAVE THIS MUCH CONTROL OVER PRIVATE SELLERS.

Funny though I haven't had any mail go missing in decades (previously used RM tracked) but as soon as I give SD (and evri) a try, the very first week a package gets lost in the system!
You'll find that tends to happen a lot with Evri. Item collected. Item travelling through network. Item reaches hub or delivery depot. Item disappears into thin air.
Think I'm at 2000+ parcels via RM Tracked with only 1 issue, where the postie delivered to Church Road instead of Church Street, which were right next to each other. Genuine mistake.
I tried Evri last year and they lost 4 out of 9. All 9 reached the various hubs. Only 5 made it out without "mysteriously" disappearing. AKA: They were nicked.

But you can get a letter sighed for (so someone has to hold it and sigh of it) and not just a phot of some ones door step

My items haven't been converted yet, but most are/ should be exempt like you. In preparation i set the weight to 70g and the box sizes a bit under the large letter limits to give the biggest clue to SD that that is what i would expect to use as postage along with the price of course. You can change the weight on all items by doing a bulk change so it doesn't take long. If you had postage policies set up it is even easier.
Don't know if this helps, but it sounds from what you say that your items are just auto set to 1kg.

what I find quite scary here is you as the seller were unaware that your package was not delivered and the seller had an issue, the only way you knew was a refund on your postage . I take you had no there was no there communication from Ebay
I think you need to double check what happen with payment for the item because under the new system I think it so easy to lose track of.
This is not just a case of changing T & C Ebay are tinkering with consumer laws and rights and have significantly change the established status quo here .
I would advise anyone who is still selling to under SD to keep a close eye on the delivery status of each item . I have just had some Super Glue that I bought through Ebay delivered , apart from the fact I hear it going through the letterbox , I get an email immediately to say it has been delivered , but really should Ebay be sending that to the seller ? Perhaps they should be sending an Email to seller when their payment is available ?
This is crazy but then we already know that !
This really is going to end up in some form of collective legal action . In some way Evri by being so poor will help highlight the very real issues with Ebay

Large Letters are not exempt from SD, only Letter size items.

My items are all under £10 but even though usually over 100g ebay are letting me use my own choice of delivery so I don't use simple delivery .So it looks like items can be under £10 or under 100g to use your own choice of delivery

Yes, it was receiving the funds that made me realise it must have been paid out for lost as it showed available and was the only one for that day (i withdraw everything as soon as cleared) and i saw it wasn't delivered, still at evri hub since 10th April so customer must have complained (was first day after estimated delivery day) and got a refund and ebay let me have the funds from the sale.
If evri are really this awful (which i believe overall they are) then this is likely going to cost ebay a lot of ££££.

Based on the eBay adverts, I think that eBay are now targetting younger generation who have smartphones and no printer - list, sell, get QR code for label, pack and go to PO/Evri.
I'm a dinosaur who has stamps to use and even though I use Second Class Signed For, many of my parcels arrive next day.
Thankfully, my listings have not yet been converted and I'm still selling a few things.
When they do get converted, my under £20 ones will get ended and I'll have to look at other platforms. So far etsy is the only one I've tried and it's so much more complicated to list than eBay. I'm used to creating listong on desktop and then using the app to add photos - this doesn't appear to be an option for etsy, or even saving as a draft. Unless anyone else knows better.
Now, if I do sell anything I'm extracting my money as soon as I can, so eBay have also lost a lot of buying from me.

That's awful. I am lucky enough to have a great evri delivery guy and always receive anything that gets sent to me via them but I certainly wouldn't have chose them myself to send my own items.
I wonder if paying out lots for lost items will make ebay rethink but more likely they will just put the charge up to cover the losses.

"Ebay are tinkering with consumer laws and rights "
Something I expressed in my formal complaints.
In the case of SD, I pointed out that Evri does not deliver to all areas, thereby leaving sellers and buyers alike with no option but to use RM in those instances, because other services are no longer available on the platform; and that in other cases we are simply being denied the use of cheaper options, such as to NI, where Evri's rate is twice what Yodel's would be, and thereby their restrictive practice is clearly not in our - the consumer's - best interests...

SD is being rolled out gradually - so at the moment you are not in it, and can choose how you send.
BUT when you are opted on it will only be letter size items under £10 (and 100g) that will be exempt from SD.

Ebay are un-believable as If they have actually covered both the seller and buyer in this instance . If this a genuine feature of buyer protection of buyer protection and simple delivery it should be a headline benefit and not just something people find out by chance .
What you don't know is, if Evri have compensated Ebay as part of the deal , it could be Evri don't make an individual payment it just goes into the melting pot . A potential problem could be when courier disputes the non delivery etc
However what it does highlight is if Ebay have a deal with Evri and RM for compensation then they should not hold on to the sellers payment until after delivery as it really should be no latter than when the courier receives or not at all as they can always charge the seller back

The custom letter option isn't there yet is supposed to be from 21st but like everything it might be rolled out over weeks or months, they should know this but obviously don't

When I have had items delivered I have a little lorry symbol in the top left of the delivered item telling me how to pack my items etc seems a bit late once the item has already been delivered .........

We have a great evri delivery driver now but the one before her used to open every parcel and take out anything that was of interest, usually things like baby toiletries, small electrical goods or bulk packs of snacks,
things that could easily be sold in the pub or on facebook, before delivering the rest of the parcel or sometimes an empty box. I stopped shopping at Boots online because this was happening to every one of their parcels and they wouldn’t take it seriously. I still don’t as the habit was broken and I now just get that stuff from Tesco. (something ebay should be considering with this latest debacle, perhaps.
Before her we had one who would mark everything as delivered through the week but only actually deliver on a Thursday. Evri did catch on to that one and she was sacked.
If a buyer wants to use evri I wouldn’t object except I can’t get to a drop off point so I’d have to have RM only as a seller. If they sent me an evri label I’d cancel the sale. How is that good for (ebay’s) business?

You can over ride "Simple Delivery" and choose custom postage with Royal Mail or alternative and select tracked method of postage. You specify the postage cost that should allow for any postage material cost and he cost of actual postage will be what ever the carrier charges, e.g. Royal Mail small parcel 48 hour tracked up to 2KG £3.45 from 1st April 2025. Other if you use Simple Delivery the buyer pays way over this just for the postage (no packing cost included) + VAT at 20%, you have to swallow the packing material cost or allow for this in your selling price which with the inclusion of "Buyer Protection" makes you item overpriced. Both buyers and sellers will leave eBay to find other ways to buy and sell. Who will be the ultimate loser here? I am sure eBay will amend their policies when their overall revenue drops.
