AS OF 15TH APRIL MY DAYS AS A PRIVATE EBAY SELLER WILL STOP AFTER 19 YEARS.
I AM FED UP OF THE GREED OF EBAY AND I HOPE OTHER EBAY SELLERS DECIDE TO NO LONGER LET THE EBAY CONTROL FREAKS HAVE THIS MUCH CONTROL OVER PRIVATE SELLERS.

Yep, I saw yours and read quite a few others too.
I'm certain it isn't their fault either. They will almost certainly be totally reliant on what information drips down to them.
But it really does look like they've had legal training or someone from legal is proof reading before they post.
That reply post about damage is strange in a really clever way. The seller is safe because they will have their funds. Umm, no, it's almost certain that eBay will have their funds in that scenario.
Safe because they have it against not safe because eBay do?
Is that what that means because that's what it looks like to me.

I've actually been thinking along similar lines - by restricting sellers to using just RM and Evri (and, by Evri's own CS admission, "pushing" their service), eBay are likely breaching some form of rule or another regarding fair practices, etc...

They are representatives of ebay so I'm not going to cut them any slack. I'm sure too that they are trained, just not sure what in, they'd make great politicians.
I posted my question and their response in case anyone else was interested too. Shouldn't have expected anything better really, totally useless answer which guaranteed there was no way to verify/work it out.
Without more clarity, I don't know what they meant in answer to your question, maybe purposefully vague?

Dave's reply to you and Kat's to me weren't exactly word-for-word, but very, very similar...

Yep, very similar and equally useless.

I'm slowly losing it, now I see this on one of my listing for a small bladed item selling price £15.
Its not listed as under 100gm and not under £10
I'm waiting for the bots to find it and to tell me to amend to age verified postal service. At the moment it's still 2nd class signed for, as I use stamps.
Looks like they can't even keep consistent with their own policies.
I'm getting very peed off with having to check to see if SD has been applied to any of my listing yet.

I much prefer going into the post office, chat etc. They will go extinct if eBay carries on. I will not use simple delivery, I want to choose where, when, how to post! I've put everything over 100g on collection only, knowing nothing will sell, cos they are fabric remnants mainly.

Their wording involved money remaining with the seller & that's why the seller would be safe.
Remain means the seller would already have the funds.
But how would they?
Most damage cases get reported on delivery, so that means eBay would almost certainly still have the money.
It's kind of like saying nothing, but saying nothing in a really odd way.

Why have a weekly chat if you are not allowed to talk!! It's all sounding like if we don't agree, then b....r off, scuse my french.

The "The pushing services through partnerships" was a very noticeable bit to see.

I don't blame you for feeling nervous. I don't think anyone knows what's coming next.

Great post. Even one of my local posties made a joke comment about not collecting anything from me lately and I explained that I'm not selling on here at present because I can't deal with RM directly for the foreseeable future.

IF the post office will only take parcels 61 x 45 x 45 why does the freight option keep jumping back to postage or collection ? i gave up and listed anyway with ebay recommended size ? and a 20% saving is £2 for ever £10 spent ! so costs you £8 that's SIMPLE
16-04-2025 4:31 PM
2 posts i wanted to like i couldn't probably removed
16-04-2025 4:33 PM
Well, do let us all know when you actually save that 20%.
We won't hold our breath.
As I've already demonstrated, for the majority of my items eBay's SD rates would be almost 10% higher than I was paying using another carrier - and considerably more than that for others.
When I posted my examples in the live chat earlier, their own people acknowledged that their rates are higher.

Competition rules no doubt

The RM ones have RM on them and a QR code the Evri labels have a barcode I am not sure if they say Evri on them

In other news... Just seen I've got like 254 emails in my junk from this thread! I've taken my email off, but they're still coming. When I click on the manage thing, it says the email address isn't getting notifications but it blinkin well is. Omg. I think I need to go sit on a beach for a month.....
16-04-2025 4:40 PM
Oh ok that's helpful thanks. So at least I'd know which I'm using before going out to send it!

All they need to do here for now to get sellers selling again is to make SD a option instead of being compulsory so that sellers can still deal with RM directly if that is the preferred and best option for them.
