NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

AS OF 15TH APRIL MY DAYS AS A PRIVATE EBAY SELLER WILL STOP AFTER 19 YEARS.

I AM FED UP OF THE GREED OF EBAY AND I HOPE OTHER EBAY SELLERS DECIDE TO NO LONGER LET THE EBAY CONTROL FREAKS HAVE THIS MUCH CONTROL OVER PRIVATE SELLERS.

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

Wow, should RM be shown:- "Ebay now pushing sellers to use Evri for deliveries"  and  "company is pushing its services through partnerships, such as with eBay" actually written by an Evri CS.

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

My partner is trying to list a book that weighs 750 g and SD is recommending it as 2kg  just rediculous ,he has put all the measurements in too and with packaging it would still be under 1 kg  . Ebay need to come into the real world and not try and make things up as they go along .As sellers we know how much roughly the postage is going to be and it is a big jump from 1kg to 2 kg .My partner has been on ebay since 1998 and is annoyed at all the fiddling ebay do .

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

I've been testing and re-testing constantly opting out of SD, it's still allowing me to do so. Obviously there are still other issues, which I cannot overcome, like buyers being ripped off and postal discounts, offers, auctions, multiple listing, ease of use, confusion, even collections allowed (when they were not!) all having become a No No. But strange its still letting me list opting out of SD, even though I have to do 1 listing at a time.

Well Obey - it's your choice, should I stay or will I go? I can feel a Clash moment!

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

I have already emailed RM with my concerns over the matter of SD .I have a friend who bought a small PO 3 years ago when the previous owner retired , so she owns the building and runs it as a postoffice too as well as selling sweets ,and cards and stationary and other little bits .RM give her commision on every thing she sells for them she gets between 9p & 12p .Now because of SD she is losing out because the labels are being sold to the buyer and not the seller going into PO to buy postage and because evri is a cheaper option people are going down that route .We used to have to queue in our main PO for several minutes when sending parcels but since february there has been hardly anyone in there ,we used to see the same faces daily sending parcels ,but not anymore ,now we can walk straight up to the counter to be served .

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

In my lastest reply from the eBay Executive Office they repeated the 20% saving (on average) claim, but then went on to say:

To achieve these competitive rates and ensure we deliver a simple to use experience, there are a small number of weight bands that we have priced slightly above rates for similar services you see previously on the site and we can see that in this instance raised.

Whilst rather garbled, I think that is eBay admitting that they have reduced options and as a result, increased prices for certain parcel categories.

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

We were in our PO today and a woman came in with 3 parcels for every and the staff in the PO rightly said no we don't take them only DPD as there is an Evri drop off shop just a few hundred yards down the rd .The woman was taken a back and said she was led to believe that the PO too all parcels for SD from ebay ,just shows how confusing all this SD has been .

I posted this info during the live chat today and it was silently deleted. I then asked why my post was deleted and that was also deleted. I guess they are not interested in the truth. Thank you very much eBay Community Team.

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

Well I was wondering if the label you print says which courier it is for, or just eBay, as there's nothing on the listing to indicate who you're buying. Unless that changes...

@wintersdawn1

They just replied to me over there. I'm not sure if I misread that first time, but that looked dodgy. I screenshot it instantly.

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

Is what you are actually  buying  the same as RM48 that would be bought through Royal Mail or Post Office ,  It already changed the time the label is valid for .  You would assume you still get the same level coverage  but as Ebay are selling it it may only have the value of you item against it , which is all you can claim anyway .

However Ebay buys  the label from the seller and that may impact your ability to gets compensation from RM . Ebay won't care as they haven't paid  your fees yet  and as result  there will be circumstances the seller will struggle with compensation and be left out of pocket . To me the seller is totally exposed under this ridiculous set-up

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

Saw their reply, not sure what to make of it, needs a lot more detail to know exactly what they mean.

My question didn't get deleted this week so that's something but didn't get a specific example in answer to my question:

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

Obviously they have been given instructions to do so by their  "listening customer focussed leadership" .  When are Ebay going to stop acting like children  and stop being so rude to customers

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

It's been my hunch for weeks now since more information for Simple Delivery started being released.

There are so many elements that look like traps.

On the community thread just now, there was a reply after mine.

Paraphrasing, they said the seller wouldn't have to worry about damage as they (the seller) would have their funds and eBay would sort the buyer.

Umm, unless I'm missing something in the above scenario the seller wouldn't have their funds, eBay would. Assuming damage would be reported on delivery and sellers get paid 2 days after that.

So that post really struck me as deliberately odd.

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

In response to my post over in the chat regarding eBay's claim that SD will "save you money", this statement was made: "The information regarding saving money on potage is based on savings data on eBay from Oct 2024 to March 2025."

There are lies, damned lies, and statistics.

Not all of the postage/courier charges for my sales were purchased via Packlink - some items were sent with ordinary stamps or other RM services paid for direct at my local PO.

Prior to switching to Yodel, I usually used the Evri (previously Hermes) website, and even earned Tesco Clubcard points!

From replies in this thread alone, plenty of sellers paid their postage/courier charges independantly, in similar fashions.

eBay can claim whatever they like, but they do not have the complete picture - just a snapshot.

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

Has your friend made a complaint to CMA as it appears basically Ebay & RM have entered into a cartel that prejudices other businesses that sell RM products.  This should be right up the CMA's street
