AS OF 15TH APRIL MY DAYS AS A PRIVATE EBAY SELLER WILL STOP AFTER 19 YEARS.
I AM FED UP OF THE GREED OF EBAY AND I HOPE OTHER EBAY SELLERS DECIDE TO NO LONGER LET THE EBAY CONTROL FREAKS HAVE THIS MUCH CONTROL OVER PRIVATE SELLERS.

…and therefore no chance of me relisting again on eBay. And if I don’t list on eBay, I probably won’t be searching for items on eBay either as I regularly did. It seems eBay has had its day, and its disastrous treatment of its customers, both buyers and sellers, will hopefully seal its fate.

Well in February i listed 50 items and after 8 weeks of relisting and and 3 price reductions i managed to
sell 24 items.......i just wanted to have a clear out and i had already done the work in listing so the low prices didn't bother me to much....The BPF annoyed me because not only raised my asking price but the odd prices as they appeared to the buyer ie £4.73 stick out like a sore thumb and that they are paying extra for something that was already in place......additionally 7 of my items got changed to SD along with my postage charges without my consent ......i really do want to use Ebay to sell the rest of my belongings but to put time and effort in and then have to cope with this pathetic show for little reward it's just not worth it......for this reason i have ended the few listing i had live and will not be listing until the powers that be see sense.

Ebay will eventually have reverse SD and PBF , the question is when . Currently Ebay leadership still seem to be in cloud cuckoo land , thinking this is a storm they can simply ride out .
They have turned what they thought was underperforming business to one that is now on the brink of catastrophic failure by massively by undermining their own brand

I agree it's a right PITA trying to decifer what people are actually offering on best offer, is the odd numbers the actual amount I potentially get or not, Its like selling in apples and paying in bananas. As a buyer I prefer orderly round numbers not gibberish irrational ones. It's ugly and just wrong.

Someone posted that seeing as eBay don’t make a penny off private sellers ie no fees they have nothing to lose if they lose them all
But if they do lose them with the things they introduced to salvage the no fees to sell policy ie zero, profit of last year ? Then they’ve grossly miscalculated their strategy..
I mean honestly
the overhyped postage prices was a gamble especially when eBay say you will save up to 20% …where??????? not to mention the constriction and dictatorial control
Maybe they think even if they lose private sellers they will still buy here …hmmm maybe maybe not
ah well

I hate this as much as anyone and won’t be selling or buying again but I think this is absolutely a storm they can ride out.
The BPF has caused prices to fall overall but buyers have not seemed to find it a barrier to buying and the simple delivery is something that is done on other platforms and will be accepted without question by all newcomers to the platform. Things will stabilise if SD can be quickly made to work reliably in most cases.
The UK market is a small part of the eBay business and private sellers a small part of that. The whole thing is the way the world is now and some of us, (not many though as with the lack of viable alternatives most ‘leavers’ will be back a few weeks or months from now) will be left behind. We matter not.
Five years ago all the posts here were complaining just as angrily about managed payments. Four years ago it was seller fees, two years ago it was fee discount weekends and vouchers, now this. I wonder what it will be next year?

Maybe buyers and sellers might want to sort the wheat from the chaffe themselves to suit themselves
ebay is a household name and a huge company but they don’t have any monopoly as there are dozens of other places to buy and sell now and doubtless more to come and for certain younger people do not like eBay much compared to other places also
its not just dollar power it’s reputations as well that can harm or enhance a business
We shall see what we shall we

The UK market is ebay's second largest and what happens here does have some importance, even if it is just to effect confidence in the overall company.

I don't know, I won't be here.
But I don't recall complaints about fee discount weekends, and until recently we've always had seller fees, and we knew where we stood.

It will be another bad day if ebay amalgamates with Etsy IMO. I'm a buyer on Etsy, and I used to be a buyer on ebay, but they are very different in terms of product, presentation and experience. I'd hate to see the ebayification of Etsy. I hope the CMA (which is responsible for monopolies and mergers) wouldn't allow it.

I don't know how you're managing to bypass SD, a lot of people are stating that they have gone to order details after they've sold an item and are unable to view the address of the buyer and are presented with the link to print the label via SD only.

I agree. I’ve bought and sold on both and Ebay could certainly buy etsy but I don’t think they could merge the sites, they’re far too different.

I have the feeling those ebay policy makers are rich public school millennials who never have to budget, no children or mortgage and they are rude. They call ALL private sellers side hustlers. If I registered as a business, I'd not be able to pay the fee required every month as my seeds are seasonal. NOT viable.

Well, they have closed me down then.

If you lose an item with EVRI or ERVI or EVIL, you will be traumatised for life. The end of the day, if the item is lost, seller will still have to pay up or be charged extortionate return label. NOT all EVRI/ERVI delivery personnel are bad, but I have come across 2 nasty experiences in Grays and I had to scream and kick to get £10 out of £12 back. Packlink and Evri blamed each other and I was the loser. Also, sometimes, these vans got stolen .. posties didn't want to go to North Wales to post one letter... Selling on ebay can be so traumatic. And they think they are making us SIDE HUSTLERS rich whilst those registered as business sellers taunt you...

"And they think they are making us SIDE HUSTLERS rich whilst those registered as business sellers taunt you..."
Have you tried contacting EBay Customer Services to see if they have a special department to help SIDE HUSTLERS who are registered with them as private sellers.

If you go to *print invoices* it shows the buyers registered and post to address.
You still get the normal menu under order details except adding a tracking number and mark as dispatched.

Is it everything under £10 is exempt or has to got to be £10 and under 100g ?
If the latter is the case, can you not just list everything under £10 as under 100g to get around this *bleep* system?

It's a bad idea to suggest ways of avoiding eBay’s processes.
