NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

AS OF 15TH APRIL MY DAYS AS A PRIVATE EBAY SELLER WILL STOP AFTER 19 YEARS.

I AM FED UP OF THE GREED OF EBAY AND I HOPE OTHER EBAY SELLERS DECIDE TO NO LONGER LET THE EBAY CONTROL FREAKS HAVE THIS MUCH CONTROL OVER PRIVATE SELLERS.

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

You've probably had a reply already  (I can't keep track of what reply goes to which person) but I will tell you what I was told by a CS rep.  AI will determine the weight and dimensions of the item from the information in the listing (!!!)  If due to their estimation process the postage is UNDER that which is required, Post offices are instructed to accept the item and Ebay will pay the difference.  That's the idea, however, will it work in practice?  I asked my local post office if they had heard of this and they said they hadn't.  So it seems if you want peace of mind you would need to pay any additional postage there and then when you go to the post office, or risk the buyer being expected to collect the parcel from Royal Mail Head office at the other end and pay a £2.50 'fine' for insufficient postage.  Which will have to be refunded and no doubt impact on your feedback.  However, the rep did tell me that if you go into the listing and key in incorrect dimensions/weights they will accept no responsibility at all.   I have paused all sales using "Time away" with a message explaining why until they get this mess sorted.  But as they probably won't, it will be goodbye eBay

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

Good question as if Ebay don't allow you get a refund on postage  as they bought it from RM . What it suggests you are posting it on Ebays behalf and Ebay are actually your  buyer and not the winning bidder. Changes a lot in terms of buyer seller realtionship.

Currently if you buy a label in error , you ask for a refund where your purchased it and if Royal don't process it within 7 days  you get  the refund.

This has just highlighted another issue  , that will arise. If you have Buy it now listing which relist till sold  then there is a fair chance they could sell when the seller  isn't around . So Ebay will take the payment send you a label with todays date , and you are away until after the expiry date , normally 7 days what happens .   Ebay should have a process for handling such a circumstance bet they haven't !!

As although none us  want or intend  to sell  because of Ebay's enforced changes it really is unwise to continue selling until Ebay sort their mess out .

Keep complaining to anyone and everyone you can think of . Every thing about what Ebay are  doing absolutely stinks

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

Can I get a refund for an unused postage label on eBay?

Labels purchased on the eBay labels platform need to be used within 14 calendar days. If unused, make sure to void the label within 14 calendar days to get a refund. Here's how to void a postage label in My eBay or Seller Hub: Select Selling in My eBay, or select Orders on the Seller Hub Overview page.

I’ve noticed quite a few sellers on here today (especially in the member to member support board) who don’t know about, don’t want to, or can’t use the new labels and they’re asking how to cancel the SD label and get the money from the buyer, or how to claim the money back as they’ve paid twice, having offered free postage and then bought a label at the post office.

What’s the fall out going to be when they’re all told that’s not how it works?

If they are just the ones who have found this forum how many others are there contacting CS? Or not contacting CS and either giving up or carrying on being out of pocket?

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

Exactly my thoughts exactly ,I suppose you would have to purchase a complete new label at PO at your own expence and then because the original label wasn't used the buyer would have to cancel the unused label their end and hope to get a refund from ebay .Ebay had suggested to my son in this scenario that he could ask the buyer for the cost of the postage back . Ebay have made this simple delivery as clear as mud

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

Yes how many will realise that even offering free postage they still have to buy a label from ebay ,they can't send the parcel the way they want .

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

Doesn’t this only apply to the ‘old’ ebay labels purchased by the seller though?

I’m seeing everywhere that an SD label cannot be cancelled although if it isn’t used to send the parcel the buyer *should* get refunded for it after a certain period of time. Realistically, will this happen without the buyer contacting CS I don’t know.

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

It would be nice to able to enter the correct dimensions and weight to the listing, but that option is no longer available In the listing tool,

How the F  will the AI tool estimate a one off collectable?

I'm sure it has a load of data on huge 1940s trade catalogues !

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

The last  RM label  purchased via Ebay states had an expiry date of 7 days on the label . Have RM changed that for Ebay now to 14 days  or have they changed that across the board  for all RM customers

Unlike Ebay RM are showing a bit more interest in complaints . CEO emaik emma.gilthorpe@royalmail.com.

You have to presume RM have signed a deal with Ebay and the more complaints Sub postmaster make about this CMA etc the more overall traction in forcing a change

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

Firstly sellers should stop offering free postage as what tends to happen is sellers factor in the cost of postage into the item price (if they have any sense) this attracts BPF whereas a declared postage fee doesnt...just have to factor in some packing costs into item.

Secondly lazy sellers using AI descriptions could see AI marking AI for what your item is!

Stamps can't be used as the label is for a VATable service and stamps aren't subject to VAT.

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

I cancelled first and only SD that was inflicted on me by eBay. Package dimensions way off and no option but to cancel. As far as I can tell the seller was fully refunded and I haven't been charged for an unusable label.

As a business seller they wouldn't have to use Simple Delivery though.

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

Yes, if the Simple Delivery label isn't used then the buyer is automatically refunded at some point (There have been some reports on the boards of this happening).

If the seller offers free postage then the refund should in theory be credited to the seller as they are paying for the label (assuming the buyer selects 'Standard' delivery and not 'Express' delivery).  Haven't seen any reports of that happening yet though.
