AS OF 15TH APRIL MY DAYS AS A PRIVATE EBAY SELLER WILL STOP AFTER 19 YEARS.
I AM FED UP OF THE GREED OF EBAY AND I HOPE OTHER EBAY SELLERS DECIDE TO NO LONGER LET THE EBAY CONTROL FREAKS HAVE THIS MUCH CONTROL OVER PRIVATE SELLERS.

Nice to see everyone is switching to E_b_i_d

So what do you see as the down side off
1-5 active listing free
6-20 active listings £6 PM
21- 50 active listings £10 PM
51-100 active listings £18 PM
101 upwards £30 PM
Would only work if the value of your listings were above a certain level and had a turnover of probably 50% (guestimate)

Perhaps I’ve been watching Les Miserables too much, but I can’t help seeing a parallel - albeit in a very small way(!) - with this revolution at ebay. In both cases, the trigger point has been because the fabulously wealthy and powerful tried to oppress and remove the freedoms of other people - in ebay’s case by removing our freedom to choose and manage our own despatches.

eBay may have made a concession for items under £10 AND under 100g, no bigger than a standard letter, but that is only a tiny minority of items, like photos, leaflets, postcards and stamps. Move to the next level up, an item weighing 70g but a bit thicker like a DVD, that would have been a large letter costing £2 to post by Royal Mail - no concession here by eBay. I had a great many DVDs on eBay at just £2 or £3 plus £2 postage, and would now have to pay £2.74 to send such a low value item tracked. It's simply not warranted when a certificate of posting does the job. AND the buy pays the so-called 84p 'buyer protection fee'. So I would now have to charge £2.74 postage and the buyer would have to pay £5.58 (£2.84 + £2.74) for a DVD that would have cost £4. They simply wont, and I won't be listing for that reason. I have my own website and I will soon be incorporating a 'boot sale' section on it to sell all my old odds and ends and collectibles.

Trying to list a cassette. It's a higher priced item (£24.99), so I'd typically send via Evri (£2.94). Despite still being able to opt for Custom Postage, RM is showing as the only option. Even though I have my preferences set to not use RM. When I select SD it just says package size, 1kg Recommend. Prices from £2.94 with no mention of Evri. So it's already forcing me down the root of using SD.

I’m a business seller (different account to this) on and off for the last 20 odd years - man and boy as they say!
My sales have nosedived by 75% in the last 6 weeks.
I looked at ‘that’ site in October, registered, sold a few personal items.
Every platform has its pros and cons - yes, prices are low, but the ease of listing is refreshing.
I upgraded to pro, and am seriously considering moving over the majority of my inventory. With views, sales and reservations and offers incoming within hours of listing.
I completely agree with you, the BPF is transparent, also the messaging is in one place.
I feel completely mugged off as a business seller here, over the recent changes.
I don’t deny genuine private sellers the free to list benefits at all. But the inability of the company to actually police their own site from incorrectly registered private sellers is disgraceful.
Then to introduce Simple Delivery without the details being thoroughly implemented and communicated across all involved parties - just disastrous. I don’t blame any of you for walking away.
Finally charging business sellers £32.40 a month for a basic shop with 250 BIN listings, yet private sellers £19.99 for 400 BIN that rollover, forget it! I know that’s not the issue here but it seems they’ve managed to wind everyone up!
I’ll keep a presence on here to see how it things pan out, but as I’ve said before I’ll go where the buyers are.

I have now discovered another postage problem. On my official page I'm listing a small wood chisel, according to eBay it has to be sent via age confirmed delivery . Only RM and UPS offer that service. After SD UPS is not an option.
And after speaking to RM CS a woodworking chisel does not require age confirmation service, just common sense anti burst packaging. This has been confirmed as I have a current claim for one getting lost via signed for 2nd class.and am in the process of receiving compensation for it. This was sent after the recent crack down on posting blades.
So obviously the dept at ebay have no clue about current UK postage criteria.

My first victim of Simple Delivery. Item originally listed as Free Postage via Evri. Unbeknownst to me eBay have changed it to RM (despite me not offering RM as a service). Not a chance that will fall within RM dimensions. No other option but to cancel order.
Great work eBay 👍

It interesting what to know what the fees are for business sellers as for me it simply is not worth it based on what I have been selling over the last few years and also my future intentions.
What I have noticed as business sellers are not subject to BFP this are the items I am watching but where as a few months ago I was placing 20 bids a week in the aim of getting something with a little effort I could make a reasonable return I am simple not placing any bids because although I can but cheaper as private seller any return has been destroyed
I took early retirement and Ebay has been a source of some extra income and a pastime , but when I started accounting for everything ahead of HMRC implications you appreciate the profit aspect more . I could never use it as serious source of income .
As I am now getting closer to the age where some of my better Pension pots kick in , I have been moving away from what I class as " trading in my hobby" to actually spend more time doing my hobby. I still have a fair deal to sell but now mainly from my own collection which is worth a fair bit but wasn't bought as an investment , and I know if I never let it go it will end up as something that just needs clearing and go for a fraction of its worth , so I actually become more of a private seller
My initial thoughts are VTD is good site for what it sells , so I might actually use it but not for what I currently sell .
Ebay will need to go back to basics before some of their markets get picked off by specialised hobby sites . I deal in collectable models and specifically model trains but the collectable Toys and model market is strong and a site under that umbrella would work well for buyers and sellers a like .
Good luck

Is the postcode one that evri don’t deliver to? That’s the only reason it might be changed
edit
oops
just seen Tipton
I think evri deliver there
why else would they change it?
🤷🏼♀️

Could I politely ask forum members to not keep using initials. I have no idea what VTD USP means. There have been several others initials that I am unable to guess at. I'm okay with RM and BIN and even BPF which didn't take long to decipher but I'm sure in not the only member reading some posts with a large cartoon style question mark above my head.
Thanks.

It was mainland UK. I've excluded all non-mainland locations. Stung too many times.
With it being a model/kit magazine I suppose if it were just a magazine it would fit within the RM dimensions. But as it has a 1" deep part attached to it not a chance. All my original settings were fine, eBay screwing with stuff is the issue

I'm sorry that these latest changes have affected you so badly. I just wish they would have realised that private sellers/buyers were who drove this platform. I'm a private seller who brought a lot on here. About 75% of what I brought was from business sellers because selling a few things gave me some extra money. But we're the ones that aren't really wanted so with less sellers and buyers it's also affected business sellers too.

We can't even send parcels here with Evri because the parcel drop off shop has no paper to print parcels ,they have asked for more paper but the guy never went back , so even if you can print your own labels there is no paper for the guy in the shop to print you out a receipt ,so they have had to put a sign on the printing machine OUT OF ORDER and as some people haven't got printers how are they supposed to get a label ,oh yes I forgot the Label Fairy 😂 .When we were using the ROYAL MAIL and taking parcels to the PO to get a label non of this would have happened ,when has the post office ever run out of Paper . My son in coventry has had exactly the same problem and all ebay say is cancel the order what a really good idea that is .

Your postage preferences (not to use Royal Mail) only apply to SD
so when you use custom it will appear
For evri chose “other courier” 3-5 days and then put in your price
you will have to buy the postage off evri direct or via parcel2go
im not sure why you’re not getting evri in custom postage carriers though. When I use custom I get them and yodel inpost and the whole shebang
EDIT
seems it doesn’t appear for large letter size or maybe it’s the weight, curious as evri do ”Postable”

I think it might have meant vinted ‘s unique selling point

Other courier is an option but comes up as untracked. Not sure if I put my own tracking information in I'd be paid later. I never really used the Evri app, customer postage worked fine for me. Literally pack, click, done.

I'm dreading what it's going to be like for people when it starts properly on the 15th. It's already causing huge problems now.
11-04-2025 2:43 PM
They've really left it until the last minute to try and get things sorted properly with SD. I know I'm not getting any spare money but I'm so glad I can just relax instead of being another victim of all that's happening.
