AS OF 15TH APRIL MY DAYS AS A PRIVATE EBAY SELLER WILL STOP AFTER 19 YEARS.
I AM FED UP OF THE GREED OF EBAY AND I HOPE OTHER EBAY SELLERS DECIDE TO NO LONGER LET THE EBAY CONTROL FREAKS HAVE THIS MUCH CONTROL OVER PRIVATE SELLERS.

What makes you think Royal Mail do not pay Post Office for drop off services.
They certainly pay other convenience stores, petrol filling stations etc, for drop off services

"I'm not sure what you are referring to with regards to the VAT? Royal Mail Tracked is a VATable service where ever you buy it from. "
Apologies for not being clear - I was only talking about the the services under Universal Services contract being VAT exempt (normally anything Royal Mail call First or Second Class) whereas their more modern fully tracked services (24 or 48) are VAT standard rated as are anything sold by Ebay

We called into a little post office inside a shop today 70 miles from our home ,and they take Evri Parcels and get 6 pence for each parcel .

Ah okay, I wasn't aware that eBay are charging VAT on ordinary 1st and 2nd class. I don't think they should be.

The cheaper option for Ebay to use seems to be Evri and that is where the majority of parcels will be heading for ,so Royal mail will feel it in their pockets losing a lot of revenue through simple delivery ,perhaps ebay want rid of royal mail for good . Sellers don't know who they have to take parcels too until the item is sold and I bet they won't have many royal mail ones they will be Evri . If Evri drop off shops are going to keep running out of paper when people try to post a parcel ,it is going to cause delays in sellers being paid because they won't be able to post the parcel when they thought they could .This wouldn't be a problem at a Post Office .

not if sellers opt out of evri which many here seem to be doing

Royal mail tracked was always my choice for delivery I wouldn't trust evri to deliver my newspaper

£2.70 is Tracked 48 (Large Letter) though, so is a VATable service?

I use a lap top computer as I don't have a smart phone ,perhaps this is why some people aren't up to date with all the changes on Ebay because the can't see them on their little screens .On my lap top all ebay updates are on the right of the screen when I log onto the community pages and discussions ,We were talking to a couple in an Antique shop today who also sell on Ebay, both business and private and they didn't know about the new SD ,even they thought we were talking gobbledy *bleep* ,so by the time we had finished explaining the new SD even they were shocked .

Ebay already putting out information about US tariffs, must have them worried about oversees sellers 😱🇺🇲

Feel sorry Americans who rely on Chinese imports for their businesses

It certainly is very complex, but I think you are right and I was very wrong - I was getting a superior tracked service as I had asked for and VAT had to be charged
All a bit hypothetical for us private sellers, but very important for me at work next week.
Thanks for putting me straight

Ebay is just ridiculous - now accounts being restricted if you don't provide your NI number when you sell 30 items a year - are they actually having a laugh. they have just restricted my account which had £90 sale i made a few days ago - now the only way to get my money is give personal details to a company that were data hacked a few years back. It is blackmail and theft. Ebay can go do one. They change the payout proceedure, if you post something thats not trackable you have to wait 14 working days - and if trackable after 2 days of delivery - buyer protection fee which is there way of getting seller fees back as its the same percentage - it's all stacked in their favour. Not for me. Ended my listings and I am done. Ciao Ebay
