AS OF 15TH APRIL MY DAYS AS A PRIVATE EBAY SELLER WILL STOP AFTER 19 YEARS.
I AM FED UP OF THE GREED OF EBAY AND I HOPE OTHER EBAY SELLERS DECIDE TO NO LONGER LET THE EBAY CONTROL FREAKS HAVE THIS MUCH CONTROL OVER PRIVATE SELLERS.

"Thank you, my listings are 'free delivery' but will the buyer still see 'standard' and 'express' and ebay just bill me whichever one they choose?"
No. All they will see is "standard".
Ebay will then charge you the figure they quoted you for the service with the guarantee that it cannot go up.
However this figure is higher than the figure you were shown for "Buyer Will Pay From £"

Thanks, so I will see a change to 'standard' once its changed to simple delivery, thats good to know, mine still just show the rm service I chose when I listed.

I was calling it stupid delivery but maybe broken delivery is more descriptive?
As part of my testing of the place ebay is trying to copy I just placed my 3rd order today as a seller sent me an offer of £3.50 on an item that I had on my wishlist there (and here) and the buyer protection was 37p and for whatever reason the postage was discounted to free (would be small parcel size) if I was happy to do a Yodel pickup (normally £2.29 there) so the whole order came to just £3.87.
The cheapest I could find that item on ebay is £13.99 from a business seller and I can see some sold listings with total prices ranging from around £9 to £20. My conclusion remains that ebay are living on borrowed time before everyone sees how expensive it's become.

Awww you've got bagpuss lol.

That is a heck of a difference in price. Well worth it.

I’ve read that and it just confirms simple delivery is not simple

Not quite - the courier is not shown. The buyer is never shown names of the couriers unlike pre
SD days. You will not have "chosen" RM. You will have needed to set your preferences to exclude Evri, then when the Ebay computer thinks which of the two options should it choose one will be excluded and by inference it must choose the only remaining option!

Thanks, I chose rm tracked 48 when I listed and that is still shown.
I have excluded evri for simple delivery, so will have to see what service ebay's system chooses for 'standard' when my listings are updated to simple delivery.

I too received an email early this morning from the ebay User Experience research team, asking for my feedback about the delivery choices I make for the items I sell on eBay – in a survey format. I have just completed it and was glad to have this opportunity.
On each page, I ticked the ‘Other’ box, to then allow me to input a reason/ opinion (other than simply choosing the check-box choices).
The survey did not give me the opportunity to go ‘Back’ on each page, so my first few responses were ‘off the cuff’ and I can’t remember what I put, but here is the gist of my final bits of feedback for them:
________________________________________________________________
I DO NOT want to purchase delivery via ebay.
I have worked out the best way for my own despatch methods, which suit me, my lifestyle, my location and my circumstances; many other experienced private sellers have done so too.
For ebay to now want to control this aspect of our selling too, and impose this 'Simple' Delivery system is a disaster - and in my opinion one step to far! Private sellers are delisting and looking at other platforms. Maybe this is what ebay intend - a CULL and exodus of private sellers? Less of us on ebay mean less buyers; this will then have an impact on business sellers too.
__________________________________________________
I am deeply unhappy with the situation with regard to Simple Delivery and finding it difficult to see any way forward for myself to continue using ebay.
From the community boards and other forums and social media elsewhere, it appears that many many ebay users feel the same. Sadly, many are leaving.
Ebay was once THE leading online marketplace for buyers and sellers, but no more!
Ebay used to be my ‘GoTo’ place for purchases (and selling), but recent changes are eliminating all the loyalty I felt.
The general direction ebay is going does not hold any promise for me or my fellow-private sellers, who wish to retain this ONE little piece of autonomy! (... choosing where, what and how we arrange delivery ...) – now, even that is being removed from us!
This is one step too far. It feels like we are being well and truly ‘shafted’.
Recent 'developments', with less and less regard for the individual ebay user (more aimed toward big business, advertising, AI, pushing promotions, swapping fees from seller to buyer, retaining funds, etc etc) are of no benefit to us ‘grass-roots’ users. Maybe ebay want rid of us? - Well, they are going about it the right way then!
Losing private sellers will mean less options for private buyers; less buyers will then affect business sellers.
I am conflicted about what I wish for the future of ebay. Recent changes deserve a downturn. You already hold(/held) the ideal base of customer reach, brand loyalty, most well-known selling / buying platform – and you seem to be losing it.
I myself have taken down my listings and am currently not purchasing anything on ebay. If my own actions are a reflection of the general trend, then ebay have a problem. (They will have the statistics and will know the numbers).
Please, please, LISTEN to your users. This Simple Delivery should be OPTIONAL – NOT enforced on us.

Absolutely great and good on you.

You've managed to put what a awful lot of us think

Thanks for raising the post in the 1st place, it will go down in history . I wonder where we will be this time next week and the deadline has passed .
I just cannot believe how obtuse they are being , given the nature of the changes you would think they have a back out plan .

Well done and completely reasonable feedback it's actually a glimmer of hope they are bothering to run a survey but wonder what they might discover that they don't already know from this forum and the emails they have been getting. Maybe they are testing to see what proportion of people are OK with it?

Thank you and I'm glad it's had the response it's had. I also hope some of the great posts from yourself and others have helped some people. It could actually go smooth after next week or there could be a even bigger storm. It's definitely worth watching to see.

I can't believe how they have gone from one extreme of no seller fees and making things unbelievably good for private sellers to the awful situation we are now in with both buyer tax and broken delivery. They just needed to play it down the middle with reasonable seller fees and accepting that postage was a very individual personal choice.

Very well put. But stubbornness would be the block to back tracking.

Did anyone get such a survey when Simple Delivery was implemented as an option , as if this survey is an initiative to handle the current flax its almost comical , when they could have just read this forum. Or are they targeting people that haven't posted their comments.
Where as BPF is deeply cynical even it wasn't part of the eventual sell for free vision . There is a bit of me that thinks that someone in Ebay genuine thought Simple Delivery was brilliant innovation and everyone would love it It could BFP was a hasty decision when they realised if they don't charge seller fees where does the money actually come from !

Can't imagine that being sent out to many with strong views or who voice their opinion.
