AS OF 15TH APRIL MY DAYS AS A PRIVATE EBAY SELLER WILL STOP AFTER 19 YEARS.
I AM FED UP OF THE GREED OF EBAY AND I HOPE OTHER EBAY SELLERS DECIDE TO NO LONGER LET THE EBAY CONTROL FREAKS HAVE THIS MUCH CONTROL OVER PRIVATE SELLERS.

LOL. I can't undertsnad it either .

apart from the coastal wind it was a pretty good day. Did better than i expected. Most people are really friendly and i had a lot of regulars come around. Downside to car boots (depending what you sell of course) is packing and unpacking the car twice, thieves and the weather! Upside no more photographing, listing, posting etc and wondering when your next complaint will turn up.

but thats the joy of car boots - discovering items that are difficult to find. Yes it is easier sat at a computer but i enjoy both buying and selling on car boots, the majority of people are great. Some kids can be a trial but that is down to could not care less parents!

prices are usually a lot lower as a seller at them though, practically giving things away but its like on here I do it for a hobby not for vast amounts of profit. i do hate it though when you say £1 for a good quality thing and they counter with 50p!

i am going to give it a go but from what i see clothes are not a great feature to sell on there and that is what the majority of my stuff is. As you say though i am a private seller, not obsessed with profit so can afford to have it sit there. Hopefully if more people go on it will be better. I had never heard of it before and strangely enough even my savvy relatives (whose stuff i am usually selling) have not either.

Probably not good for time sensitive fashion clothes, possibly better for good quality 'classic' types of thing that don't go in and out of fashion?
I just looked-in as I've been out all morning. It might be be a good to wind down and have a break from on-line selling and it looks like they're having problems with 'server overload' ATM. It wasn't so bad on Sunday but I did get a few 'Connection Timed Out' errors. Must be a bit busier than usual 🤣

The customer services told be they have has some positives but noting all the problems down and passing them along ,? then we read the Ebays news sent out by Eve Williams, General Manager, eBay UK with ship confidenty & easily with simple delivery ,,they have just stuck there fingers up to us ! Just an America company how will not let you sell anything marked cuba but wil not let you use the word p i s s e d ?

I have to remind myself not to scrounge packaging from people's recycling boxes when I'm out and about!

Me too. I have been a member for 19 years as well. They have completely lost their way and forget all the private sellers who were there at the beginning and got them where they are today. What they have done is idiotic. We have to be told the size and weight of our package, who we can send it with, how we get our labels and wait for our money.
I will no longer be buying anything from eBay and will be out of here on the 15th

I posted my last 2 this morning. And it does feel odd. Been on here for about 20 years as a seller. Very rarely had no listings on at all. Even when I wasn't listing I was still taking photos or cleaning/researching items.
I've no idea where I'll go, if at all. I may just decide life is too short to start up again. Luckily I have a driveway where I can put items for people to take (and they do). A few things that may be worth a bob or two I might take to Chiswick Auctions.
Maybe I'll use the time to get through my own library of 800 titles!

I've nothing but praise for RM.

I will be in the same position myself too come the 15th. Im going to hang around until then and see what happens, if anything, then be taking everything off 15th. I cant be doing with all the hassle that this new 'simple delivery ' is going to bring, and I'm just not willing to take the chance on items not getting to addresses. So it will be sad, to a certain degree to say goodbye here, but hello to another selling platform lol.!.! I wish you and All the other sellers well on our new adventure elsewhere or nowhere, and just enjoy the peace and quiet lol. Good Luck 🍀

I sold few things in the last month and only now realised that the money I paid to sent those through RM were not coming to me as postage cost through ebay. Essentially ebay kept the money while I paid postage out of my pocket.

I can see people will take their things to car boot sales to sell ,there will be no tax either ,carboots will become like antique fairs where people will travel to sell or buy stuff and not have postage costs or returns to deal with .

Yeah, I'm done too. Just flagged all my current items not to relist.
I can genuinely see the need for 'simple' delivery logic - particularly for people without printers.
(And yes, I do also see that it's a way to squeeze more money out of punters).
I can actually live with eBay overcharging buyers for single purchases - my main problem is with consolidated postage: it's a mess.
Surely eBay has to see that encouraging people to buy more than one thing at the same time - with the promise of reduced postage - can only be a good thing: we win (we make more sales), eBay wins (they get more traffic and take more 'protection' money) and the customer wins (they get lower postage).
When they fix consolidated postage charges, I'll be back.

We live in wales the carboot sales at carmarthenshire on the show ground are good on sundays, i think they are not on every sunday ,anglesey have a huge one every sundays on the mona show ground ,we travelled up to blackpool for a long weekend and there was huge carboot in Norcross , Chirk have big carboot sales , so I think where ever anyone lives in the country there will be carboots ,we have them every sunday where we live from easter sunday until october ,but you have to watch for the people who see you are busy and put small pieces like jewellery in their hands and hold it in their palm so you can't see it ,or they will have an accomplice with them and one will distract you whilst the other takes things , so it can be a good idea to have 2 of you on a stall to have eyes on look out all the time . And no returns ,no postage costs etc

The only way I'll come back to Ebay as a Seller (not often as a buyer these days) is if SD is got rid of, or there is more control for the seller re postage. I very rarely used tracking, and I mean rarely, and I think possibly only 4 or 5 items over 20 years didn't arrive (a couple of those had my radar tingling). Listing was simple (no pun intended), postage entries straightforward, and I was a happy bunny.
But I'll be lurking just to see how things go.
Good luck to you too!

We don't have smart phones or printers so we are basically stuffed ,someone suggested people like us ask a neighbour if we could borrow their printer ,I am sure that will p....s the neighbour off . My son who lives in coventry is just going to try simple delivery for the first time ,he has had his first sale with SD this afternoon he hasn't got a printer but has had a QR code sent to his email address on his desk top computer , so he has had to transfer the code to his galaxy tablet and he is heading to the evri parcel shop in town to see how he gets on ,what has miffed him though is that once he accepted the QR code a message came up to say the item had been dispatched and that the buyer has been told the item is on it's way ,ridiculous he hasn't got to parcel shop yet but has been made to feel pressured into getting the parcel out immediately rather than the next day ,supposing you have a sale at 10pm at night how can you get to post it then . But the delivery estimate is given as 8th -15th of april .

I had the email too this morning asking why I'd not used Stupid Delivery on a previous listing.
Ebay, where do you want me to start?
Well Ebay, let me put kettle on, make a cuppa, pull up a seat and make myself comfortable whilst I tell you why i didn't use your SD:
1. I've used RM for years with only a couple of small issues that were easily resolved.
2. Use Evri? The last time Evri tried to deliver something to me I was told in 3 separate messages: they'd attempted delivery (@ 3.45am!), the they couldn't access my property (i.e walk down a path) and finally that the item was being returned to the seller because it had been damaged in transit. What awful luck that Evri delivery driver had with the same parcel.
3. I can walk to the Post Office in 5 minutes to drop off parcels and flirt with the post mistress to my heart's content (she's my wife!).
4. If SD is supposed to be a cheaper option for sellers and buyers why can you pay less by going direct to the Post Office?
I did think it was nice of ebay to ask what i thought of SD after they've told us that it is compulsory, I must have missed the email where they asked for opinions before they forced it onto people.
