AS OF 15TH APRIL MY DAYS AS A PRIVATE EBAY SELLER WILL STOP AFTER 19 YEARS.
I AM FED UP OF THE GREED OF EBAY AND I HOPE OTHER EBAY SELLERS DECIDE TO NO LONGER LET THE EBAY CONTROL FREAKS HAVE THIS MUCH CONTROL OVER PRIVATE SELLERS.

I was watching a couple of recent videos on the youtube That's Flipping Retro channel about how their ebay shop is dead and they have seen an explosion of sales at the place ebay is trying to copy badly. In particular look at their "Crazy low ebay sales..." video as those girls are so clued up.

I can give you a whole list of people I know like that, beggars belief

At least one of the great things about being in the UK is that eating them isn't a big popular dish.

I can do this, I live in Scotland, Braveheart and all that. Oh no, now I have an image of Mel Gibson in his kilt, that’s it, won’t be able to anything for at least the next half hour now 🤣🤣🤣

Hopefully most people who read your post knew what you actually meant because having common sense does seem to be what most of us have plenty of in these forums.

Oh definitely, to clarify this wasn’t meant as anyone on here (mostly) 😁

Like most things we get told. About as transparent as thick green pea soup 🙃.

Wow the word "bargain" isn't something I've heard on this platform in a very long time. I think that word scares and no longer exists to those in power.

Oh it definitely wasn't meant against anyone on here in these forums.

The latest reply from Executive Escalation team, note they highlighted benefits of Simple delivery.
I have stated in a previous email that sellers already enjoy those benefits and there is no discernable benefit to Simple Delivery that seller don't already enjoy, examples Tracking and protection.
There seems to be an admission that in some scenarios postage will cost more.
The last paragraph says it all after years of selling on eBay they are happy to assist me closing my account.
Through Simple Delivery, customers can save 20% off postage costs* with eBay's competitively negotiated rates for standard and express delivery with Royal Mail and Evri. Buyers will benefit from savings and enjoy the peace of mind that automatic tracking offers.
(*Comparing the average Simple Delivery and non Simple Delivery Buyer postage label cost savings data on eBay from Oct 2024 to March 2025.)
Based on the information you have shared I can see that you have opted out of Evri as a delivery option. We do recommend staying opted into all carriers to receive the most competitive postage rates for sending your item.
To achieve these competitive rates and ensure we deliver a simple to use experience, there are a small number of weight bands that we have priced slightly above rates for similar services you see previously on the site and we can see that in this instance raised.
Can I recommend you continue to list your item with your selected delivery service and in the meantime we will review this example and explore how we can bring even more competitive rates to our eBay buyers and sellers. As a reminder, eBay Simple Delivery provides protection for items up to £750 so should any issues occur while your parcel is in transit, eBay will resolve this for you.
I note that you have mentioned you will be closing your eBay account going forward. If this is something you would like me to assist you with this, please confirm your account details and I would be happy to help you with the account closure process.
I trust I have been able to clarify your query for you today and I thank you again for contacting eBays Executive Office.

Exactly my situation, although my OCD won't let me throw things away!!

At the moment it's a buyer's market and you need to get a potential buyer to look at the item before placing a bid/offer. When I'm in the buying position I scan and use filters such as 'asking price' so the listing may put off the very buyers you're trying to attract - worth a punt mind. The other thing that occurs to me is to list everything as 'collection only' and then in the listing text allude to a delivery method outside the SD imposition. The only problem is that then that shoves the payment process outside eBay, begging the question "why not use Gumtree or Preloved"?
07-04-2025 10:23 AM
They really don't have a clue. The only benefit I've got because of SD is that it gave me the reality check I needed. Of course they'd be happy to help anyone close their account because it would be one less person to worry about.

Yes, thanks for your almost 10 years of loyal perseverance to eBay, such a shame you closing your account but hey, whatever, here to help, we can do that for. In other words ‘you may have been under the impression that you were talking to an organisation that actually gives a damn, fooled ya’!
So typical, no respect to us sellers at all.

One less, soon several less, wonder what they will do with all the time they have on their hands eventually, what goes around comes around

I had at least one removed that I didn't agree with a few days ago. So sent a email complaining about it and as yet no reply.
07-04-2025 10:33 AM
Well with a bit of luck with all this kicking off they'll need the spare time to recover 😂.

Helping users close their accounts would be the most help they've given in absolutely ages.
