AS OF 15TH APRIL MY DAYS AS A PRIVATE EBAY SELLER WILL STOP AFTER 19 YEARS.
I AM FED UP OF THE GREED OF EBAY AND I HOPE OTHER EBAY SELLERS DECIDE TO NO LONGER LET THE EBAY CONTROL FREAKS HAVE THIS MUCH CONTROL OVER PRIVATE SELLERS.

Some of your things would do well on Depop others on vinted
youd have to go research what things are up for on those sites
vinted is the cheaper selling but nor always depends
there’s also ebid
it’s really a case of trying them all out for a month or so?

Good luck with moving forward. I'm only staying to watch how this whole disaster pans out.

yes our main post office takes evri and DPD parcels but the staff in the post office are like bull dogs ,if they don't want to deal with certain parcels they will put them to one side and say "i'll deal with that tomorrow " You won't get anything past them .

Yeah I can't believe I maintained 100% positive feedback for 24 years although I think they they now show buyers a percentage based on your past 12 months feedback but I do not have a single negative or neutral feedback across all 24 years maybe 4000 transactions?
Having said that I did have to get ebay to remove negative feedback maybe 2-3 times where buyers were being completely unreasonable so credit to them for doing that. I also learned that if you post a used computer keyboard to someone and it gets jiggled around enough while upside down in transit they will just get a box of dead skin and hair.
If we walk away now our feedback achievements will never be undone.

I'm the same as you. Apart from never even having a negative or neutral. That's after 20 years and a lot of sales. In fact one of my best ones was late last year who even gave a positive for a cd that was damaged during delivery on the build up to Christmas because of communication between us.

With some of your stuff I’d try vinted for a couple weeks see how you get on
but check their what you can and can’t sell policies too
only suggesting this because their postage ages are good an have tonnes of courier options

So much for these changes benefitting sellers and buyers. Yet again another porky pie.

Simple delivery is ridiculous , it is so badly thought out and thoroughly deserves the storm it has created. If Ebay leadership has any common sense it will be dropped before the 15th deadline
However from an auction point of view it is "Buyer protection" that has currently done the most damage as it breaks the most basic auction rule . Buyer protection costs are dynamically added to the bid process which will deter bidders will reduce the end sale prices . Whilst the seller does not pay any selling costs it reduce any end sale amount to a greater degree than the deduction of a post sale fees. To be blunt we all worse off than when seller fees were charged .
I think Ebay genuinely felt that Simple Delivery would act as a sweetner to sellers after Buyer protection but obviously they have got that unbelievably wrong . Perhaps as sellers it shows we are more adverse to changes in habit rather than financial profit .
Cancelling Simple Delivery will remove seller discontent to a big degree but it won't remove the impact of "buyer Protection" and Ebay need to do so much more to rectify the damage they have caused
What has happened does accentuate a difference between business and private sellers . However you can't blame business sellers for that as they have different set of costs , and what has happened has created a ridiculous two tier selling system . Although Ebay would like to more sellers like me to be business sellers that is not going to happen and another misjudgement on their part . I am a regular seller but I am a hobby seller and not a business .
What is happening at present is not a conspiracy between Ebay and Ebay business sellers , it is a massive misjudgement on the part of Ebay and a major failing in their strategic planning.
Being honest I think all of use want to return to how things were . It would be nice to find another platform but ultimately does that mean jumping through more hoops . To me the answer is to keep up the pressure on Ebay to fix this mess

Frankly if ebayers weren't adverse to change more would have already signed up to other places. For a private seller the postage arrangements need to fit in to their individual circumstances and giving them proper choice (not limited to 2 carriers, then with penalties for choosing RM) is required.

Absolutely right. As a seller who buys all they'd need to change are 2 things. Bring back seller fees which were transparent and give back sellers the right to choose the carrier service that works for them which they have worked out for themselves. Oh and to learn to be upfront and honest with the users of this site.

I wonder if ebay have thought about Royal Mail’s request to change to a 3-day-a-week delivery service and how that will affect the delivery timetables with Simple Delivery if it goes ahead.

That's why watching what happens next will be so interesting. It's a sure thing that they'll be more announcements and policy changes to come.
06-04-2025 10:58 PM
Thanks. I'll continue to lurk on the forums just to see what Ebay do in response. No harm in being an optimist!

Which would be good as the more exposure the better.

When Item Specifics came in, I moved my records to discogs. Couldn't be doing with filling in conductors, instruments & other old tat ... for rock & blues records - ridiculous! Much debate from people who knew their subject much better than ebay on Community brought forth no engagement from ebay. Discogs is run by & for people who understand records. Their shipping set-up is not easy, but it's worth a go.

Thanks. It's a shame cos I've still got items from both parents to find new homes for. But that's by the by. I'll be popping in now and then to see how things unfold.
