AS OF 15TH APRIL MY DAYS AS A PRIVATE EBAY SELLER WILL STOP AFTER 19 YEARS.
I AM FED UP OF THE GREED OF EBAY AND I HOPE OTHER EBAY SELLERS DECIDE TO NO LONGER LET THE EBAY CONTROL FREAKS HAVE THIS MUCH CONTROL OVER PRIVATE SELLERS.

Looking at what I think are listing that have simple delivery enabled
You get 2 choices standard tracked and EXPRESS tracked . The former is obviously EVRI £2.84 ? and the 2nd Royal Mail48 tracked @ £3.44
Classing RM48 as express is misleading as there are faster services on offer on the open market . The price matches the on line purchase price for these services whether you currently buy via Ebay or from RM website . So its is misleading to claim that there is absolutely no advantage here using Simple Delivery
The potential buyer is not aware and I wonder if that is still the case if the buyer is allowed to select postage does anyone know and does the buyer get that choice and visibility and do they only know its RM as its the only one that offers collection , which you then have to order from RM website , does the buyer get a link or enter the reference on the label. Either of those are less simple to differing degrees than the current method . Again this is miss leading
Seems to be a trend here , that anything Ebay says and does is likely to be misleading in one degree or another , but then I think we all know that
The world famous Ebay feedback system works on honesty and integrity , people who mislead get negative FEEDBACK . This is a Fundamental principle of Ebay which you think their leadership would fully understand and uphold themselves !!!

Thats the problem - who wants to participate in a marketplace where you cannot trust the operators to act with fairness and integrity?

First they came for the private sellers
And I did not speak out
Because I was not a private seller
Then they came for me
And there was no one left
To speak out for me
Business sellers are staying very quiet over this matter even though they will suffer from it come the 16th

I've used GSP dozens of times to ship items all over the world (EU, North America, Japan, Australia and many more) and I've never received any negative feedback.
I agree that it is horribly expensive and sometimes doubles what a UK buyer would pay.

Many will be quietly disgusted with it but what are they supposed to do?
One big mistake eBay have made is treating sellers like fools as far as the SD costs go. They have spent years encouraging private sellers to think more professionally in the item listing process and then in 2025 treat private sellers like idiots who don’t know what couriers are out there and how much their services cost.

Understand your frustration. I sometimes spent 2-3 hours making a parcel secure for transit : box full of fragile items. Told eBay customer service on live chat this. Answer: use enveloppes for your parcels. They don't have a clue and think we only sell T-shirts.

Wonder how many CS call centre staff are planning on throwing a sickie Monday.

How about jumping onto every thread on every other board on ebay, disrupting it and destroying its content.
Just like they've been doing on here for ages.
Business sellers have caused this.
Private sellers have paid the price, FOR NOW.

Interestingly enough Ebay have just promoted Eve Williams so things won't get better . Ebay and etsy may be joining forces ,a story was online yesterday as it said both platforms have been struggling as late .OH I WONDER WHY !

The end listing 'experience' seems to be the only thing on obey that is working well.
Looking forward to using it more tomorrow, all the recent changes clearly indicate its time to go elsewhere.

Some of us are here and posting against the changes. We're aware of the fallout from what is being done. There are some eerie parallels between ebay actions and those of POTUS. Both have caused great economic shake ups and seem deaf to the consequences.

I am not sure you can have customer pick up parcels from you now with this stupid SD .

Also I’m sure a lot read and nod and don’t post as there is nothing else to add.

"Many will be quietly disgusted with it but what are they supposed to do?"
Many people have made a complaint to the Competition and Markets Authority, on the basis that Ebay may be abusing their position as the dominant marketplace for online secondhand goods by forcing sellers and buyers to only use ebay postage. The more people who complain, the better. Ebay won't let me post a link but just do a search for "Report a competition or market problem gov.uk" and fill in the form on the CMA web site.

I have occassionally posted parcels to overseas not using GSP and it was all fine ,my main post office gave me a handful of customs labels to fill in at home before taking the parcel there and holding people up whilst you fill it in .Using direct postage to overseas is cheaper for the buyer than GSP and all my parcels have reached the destinations fine no problems .

Are ebay having a rethink because they are now saying this a 6 digit code !!!!.
05-04-2025 10:23 PM
Ok, but don't have a Post Office at my location. Closed forever. For an Evri drop-off shop or whatever : need to take a ferry. Only option for me is : collection from Royal Mail at home and with "Bring My Label". eBay thinks we all live in London.

I keep checking here to see if ebay have seen sense and realise the postage option did NOT need changing whatsoever but no, looks like they are sticking to their guns. Well so am I. Whereas I normally would have been on ebay several times a day searching the category I collect in I have not even glanced at the site once since receiving the Stupid Delivery email. I needed a new hand held hoover on Thursday and whereas before my first go to site to look would be ebay, I deliberately didn't bother. Instead I went straight to Amazon and between my prime free delivery and their convenient monthly payment plan it was as immediately affordable as any bargain I could have picked up off ebay. It was delivered after lunch next day too. I can see Amazon getting a lot more orders. Ebay should be careful what they wish for, they are not the only place to get a bargain or well priced affordable items from, so the only thing they really have going for them is the rare and unique items private sellers have in their collection. If they drive away all those private sellers what will they have as a draw to the site? Nothing. Nor will those sellers be back to buy either because who in the right mind would pay the man that robbed them?
