AS OF 15TH APRIL MY DAYS AS A PRIVATE EBAY SELLER WILL STOP AFTER 19 YEARS.
I AM FED UP OF THE GREED OF EBAY AND I HOPE OTHER EBAY SELLERS DECIDE TO NO LONGER LET THE EBAY CONTROL FREAKS HAVE THIS MUCH CONTROL OVER PRIVATE SELLERS.

Yes, the buyer was understanding this time, but as you state, others may not be so generous. I would like to use another platform, but cannot find one with as much reach as eBay, but does this justify eBay simply ignoring its sellers and buyers wishes?

Yeah they are THE dominant second hand market place and they are abusing that position by forcing their overpriced postage service on buyers (and private sellers who offer free postage) which is why some of us have filed reports with the Competition and Markets Authority in the hope they will investigate and take any required enforcement action if it is found ebay will be breaking competition law.
Anyone can report a business to the CMA via their website, it's very easy.

I've just ended a few more listings. This is what I've put in the "Tell us what you think" box, where they now want to know "how to improve the End Listing experience".
Instead of asking how to improve the End Listing experience, you could ask why I'm ending it. I’m ending all my listings because of Simple Delivery. And because I won’t be selling anything, I won’t be buying as much either, if anything. Ebay has not only lost my custom, it’s lost my goodwill - that’s a priceless business asset which few businesses can afford to lose but which Ebay’s recent policies have destroyed. I used to be an ebay ambassador with my friends and family but not any more.

Just removed all my listings, not waiting until the 7 th which is when eBay state they’re going to start altering existing listings, time to try other selling sites I think.

I have just come back from my local post office and asked the post mistress for advice. She had never heard of Simple Delivery so I had to advise her. It came as a bit of a shock to her as she said she has things listed as well.

She wouldn't be as surprised as the Evri site when they see the post mistress dropping off her ebay items because she didn't change her default shipping options to ebay's extortionate RM+ shipping rates.
There's something seriously wrong with this country where we let overseas companies dominate and mislead us with all this doublespeak and misdirection.

By the way.

Did you know about that?
That was in the first few days of BPF and the first time I saw the eBay legal account. The wording used in their post ended up being added directly into terms and conditions.
At the time it I said that looked like anti competition, but within their parent group.
They prohibited the use of .com to bypass the BPF fees.
Could be something worth adding to a CMA report and the posts are still there.

Well I have an email from CS stating glass, pottery etc that is excluded from compensation by the carrier can be sent via the sellers preferred method. The ebay info mentions 'fragile' but does not specify. An item can be fragile but still have Evri compensation. If ebay are accepting responsibility for glass, ceramics, antiques then good luck to them!
Doing some test listings the postage quoted for SD before selecting advanced all indicated Evri rates were being used. Using SD means packaging costs must be factored into the listing price costing buyers more BPF or just a cost to the seller for the 'sell for free'.

This was the conversation on a different thread between Marco at ebay and a business seller commenting about Post Offices not accepting mis-labelled items:
Marco: They will definitely be accepted, you don't have to cancel it, which is why we are stating that in our Simple Delivery page.
Business Seller: When will this acceptance start? Because not 3 hours ago I stood behind someone in the Crown Post Office whose Simple Delivery small parcel had a Large letter label and she was turned away even though she protested that "ebay said you'd take it". They got the manager, who also said definitely not.
Marco: Once it goes live, they have to accept it. If they don't accept it, let us know, and we can record that and report it.
Oh so that’s alright then, with a bit of luck it might only take a few weeks for the incident to be recorded, reported, investigated and maybe corrected, who knows. Meanwhile the parcel isn't being delivered and the seller isn't being paid, even though ebay has got the money from the buyer. Nice work if you can get it!

Has just been to CS again and they contradicted the previous written statement that glass ceramics etc can be sent via the sellers preferences not SD. The mantra of 'SD only method' was stated. asked about compensation for items Evri and RM dont compensate for and was told even a valuable antique would be compensated by ebay. Seriously? The seller will be accused of failing to pack properly issue closed......I commented about rogue Evri delivery methods.....I asked re home collection via Evri and was told to contact them to arrange..er after label has been paid? I asked about parcels being refused by Post Office and basically take it home again and report.....oh so simples.

No disrespect intended to you but you are wasting YOUR time contacting CS.
They have a proven reputation for talking rubbish.

I've been already 3 times on Customer Service:
1. complained about RM no longer bring "BRING MY LABEL" option. Was promised my feedback will be discussed. Still waiting.
2. because I live in an out of area postcode: I asked to be excluded from SD. Promised: Yes, the necessary changes will be made automatically to your listings. When?
3. Asked again about option to be excluded due to my out of area postcode: This time NO - not possible.
My conclusion: they change info from day to day and don't know what to answer. Even specialist team.
And SD is still not live: what will happen when this starts? Complicated deliveries.

Lol i know but a least i get the rubbish in writing!

There's a recent example of a CS agent advising a seller here to issue an invoice to a buyer via PayPal.
That is an off-site transaction which is prohibited under terms and conditions which could result in loss of account. Not a new thing.
So while you may try to be generous to CS by saying this is a new service, post proof here suggests it doesn't really make any difference. They will basically say anything to finish the chat/call.

I went to Deptford Flea Market today but, for the first time in 20 years, I had to ignore items that I thought an interested ebay buyer might snap up. I have a feeling that, in the near future, ebay will be forced to close its UK website for a few days while it sorts out the absolute mess that is going to happen with undelivered items and parcels being rejected by the Post Office.
05-04-2025 1:16 PM
Love the it where sellers are penalised if they exclude a certain carrier ie Evri with threats of more costly postage less visibility for listings etc with no comprehension that Evri are not country wide unlike Royal Mail.
05-04-2025 1:17 PM
And we get neg feedbacks and low star ratings because in the end the mess Ebay have created comes back to us the innocent seller

i have been selling bit and bobs on ebay since 1999 and the last 2 years its been on the decline . the search was the first still cant find nothing the page layout is garbage . its like paying people a job to make it worse the buying fee is just a tax scam . the fee has gone up from 30p to 75p and now you pay tax on that fee . the not so simple delivery will be the end . i send signed for tracked 48 and this option has gone . i use dpd and ups all gone and only royal mails . ebay is selling you out for profits .
