AS OF 15TH APRIL MY DAYS AS A PRIVATE EBAY SELLER WILL STOP AFTER 19 YEARS.

I AM FED UP OF THE GREED OF EBAY AND I HOPE OTHER EBAY SELLERS DECIDE TO NO LONGER LET THE EBAY CONTROL FREAKS HAVE THIS MUCH CONTROL OVER PRIVATE SELLERS.

I don't blame you. I won't have any live listings after the weekend but will keep a eye on how things progress for sellers and buyers as I do both.

It is horrendous how they keep slipping and sliding to avoid sellers and buyers knowing what they should know instead of what they are told.

They need an award for the most mis-managed business in this galaxy.

And yes,you are right,they will simply pat themselves on the back for having done so well.

The more people leave,the happier they will be,and so will their ex customers,as they are (with a bit of luck lol) putting themselves well on the way to redundancy.

Shame it might take a while,but given the current speed of progress,might be quicker than we think...

Well with the overseas president on the brink of causing a trade war and stock markets not reacting positively and with share prices still heading downward the last thing they need is to be losing so many of what should be useful users. Shareholders are the ones they need to be concerned about so hopefully it could happen sooner than we might have thought.

The reply from ebay STILL states protection from damage or delay. It does NOT say this isnt the case if the item is excluded from compensation by Evri or Royal Mail. A bulk of private sellers items would be excluded especially pottery and glass even binoculars. Fun thought however on this, what of all the Chinese sellers making out the items are in the UK but not?

If ebay wants to transform to a 'higher end' platform then they should survey the business ebayers listing duplicate after duplicate of mainly Chinese goods. If exporting to the USA will cost them more ebay UK will be flooded with chancers who cant do Te*u.  It is the private sellers that often have the higher value unique items that make the site special but are now treated as disposable.

Someone posted on here that there were most probably a couple of ebay warehouses in the states that had Chinese made items ??.

Have just read the latest seller announcement and had to laugh....ebay suggest you factor in the cost of packaging in your selling price. Great so that increases the BPF for buyers whereas in the 'old' system factoring that cost into the postage fee does not incur BPF.  Additionally the theme seems to be they want SD to help save sellers money....er doh.  Sellers charge buyers the postage fee they dont ship for free. Alternatively sellers factor in the postage in the item and call it 'free postage' (this needs to be stopped due to BPF) So SD is not saving sellers money.  This SD model seems to imply it is the seller not the buyer paying the postage cost! If a seller is daft enough to hand over the choice of postage to the buyer the buyer could save a bit whereas the seller may find themselves rushing to meet an express delivery or finding a courier hub rather than trusty Post Office.  Simple Delivery still reads like a process devised by AI or those who have never sold on ebay.

Today's announcement from eBay confirms that fragile items can be sent with Simple Delivery and that they will be covered for damage in transit by eBay.   Whether they are excluded from compensation by Evri or Royal Mail isn't really relevant as the seller will have no direct claim against the carrier.

Hmmm. So buyers will start thinking sellers are selling things at highly inflated prices and if buyers think that is true they won't buy if they don't think they are getting a bit of a bargain. Another reason why sellers would sell less. I've given up believing what they say.

Very true. That's why this whole SD thing has finished me off as a seller. I like being able to deal with my choice of carrier directly if there are any problems.

Having ‘made a sale’ yesterday (while the listing weirdly seemed to be halfway through the process of being changed to SD) I have removed my remaining listings and filled in a report to the Competition and Markets Authority (CMA).  It was pretty easy, as providing documentation was not compulsory. 

I’ve been a happy seller (and ever increasing buyer because of it) for five years now. 

I’m angry and disappointed about SD for many reasons and I’ll not be listing, browsing or buying again unless this unfair policy is reversed and custom postage reinstated.

I feel the same and have just ended and removed my last 4 listings and set a auto message saying I am not selling any items for the foreseeable future due to SD.

I read somewhere that the UK is the only country they are doing this in, the question is if true why?  Are we guinea pigs or suckers????   Also read that they did try it in US and it got stopped, is that true?  If so how did they stop it?

Probably  because we were all wiling to try the other 'innovations' they introduced, even though not happy with them and they thought we would roll over for this.  I for one am leaving, already deleted a third of my items and the rest go over the next couple of days.

so we are all on here complaining and leaving, wonder what will happen to all those that live in their own little lives and are not aware of any of the changes?  Someone makes a sale next week to find their listing has been changed to SD and has no printer,no smart phone, no access to travelling to post?   Wonder how many cancellations/confusions there will be?  Wonder how many EVRI parcels will actually get there?

as a buyer i will just go back to the old days and trawl through charity shops and car boots.  Takes longer to find what i want (and i do not like shopping) but will be a better experience than e bay today.

the problem is that they will have a contract with EVRI and RM so will not change anything until those contracts run out.

There have already been quite a few posts from people who have paid for postage and only when they go to add tracking have discovered that SD was on their listings and the postage already paid for. It seems many people have no idea about the new changes.
