AS OF 15TH APRIL MY DAYS AS A PRIVATE EBAY SELLER WILL STOP AFTER 19 YEARS.
I AM FED UP OF THE GREED OF EBAY AND I HOPE OTHER EBAY SELLERS DECIDE TO NO LONGER LET THE EBAY CONTROL FREAKS HAVE THIS MUCH CONTROL OVER PRIVATE SELLERS.

And mine too.

So, the answer to my question is "No" then?
So far as I can see, none of your 26 so called "Alternatives" match my requirements, for one or more of the following reasons:
By a strange coincidence, between asking my question and now I have sold five obsolete microprocessors to a chap in Austria for £40 total. I'll post them to Lichfield tomorrow.
I've been talking to my wife and we think that perhaps for items I sell for her (clothes, books etc) we might be able to shift to another UK marketplace but for my components I'm not sure. Perhaps keep them on eBay for international sales and list them elsewhere for UK sales. It will be complicated, but I might be able to make it work.

I would never become a business seller on here because I'm not a business. Selling cd's from my collection to make some room for new ones is no way a business.

We watch the Apprentice and some of the things the candidates come up with are unbelievable so stupid ,so I can see how someone has messed up ebay like they have these people do exist ,but at least when the candidates mess up Lord Sugar says your fired .

I’ve already paused sales. And I will be renewing it every 30 days until eBay scraps SD.
nor will I be purchasing anything for well I suppose it will have to be indefinitely.
Lets see how eBay likes them apples.

I think they have got to be on the bottom of everyone's priority list.

Me too as well on the buying issue. If I am effectively barred from selling due to the SD rubbish,I certainly will not support them by buying anything on ebay either.Which is yes,a shame,as I had enjoyed buying, mainly from private sellers of collectable stuff, more than 99% of which have been good as gold, decent, honest people with good items, who are,as far as I can tell, those that gave ebay a decent reputation for those kind of items.
Same people ebay wants rid of...
As I said before,I am so pleased everyone here has taken the trouble to voice their angst.Thank you to all for taking your time to do so.However, past experience shows that ebay are unable ,probably,or unwilling maybe,to address any issue with any kind of reasoned thought,so hope I am wrong, but even if thousands leave as a result of this,I would be very surprised if they do anything about it.
The buyer fee effort was tried by several online sales platforms in the US.All lost money as a result, but they had the decency to admit the mistake and withdrew the charges PDQ.
Clever management could have been assumed to have checked what others do ,or have done, before acting...hence my reference to Goldfish being an intelligence upgrade.
Lack of reasoned intelligent management will just blunder on,just like ebay who mistakenly think they are something special.
Pride before a fall I think is the saying, let's just hope the hole they fall in is really deep 🙂

Did you put a message on your items for when they stop for your potential buyers, if so would you mind advising what you put, I would to do the same. My husband says I mustn’t mention any other platforms 🤪

The next couple of weeks will be so interesting.
02-04-2025 6:45 PM
I know what I would like them to fall into!
02-04-2025 6:46 PM
True. And it’s quite ironic that eBay are sinking themselves on April 15th. Isn’t it

I am stopping listings on Sunday, such a shame, have lots of really lovely buyers, will miss some of them. Cannot though accept this situation and put them through all this rubbish as well as me.
02-04-2025 6:51 PM
Well I won't be launching lifeboats to save them ,you reap what you sow
02-04-2025 6:52 PM
So so true. Apart from all the enforced changes they have made and will hopefully regret. The other big regret they'll hopefully have is giving private sellers and buyers the like it or lump it choice because the latter seems the popular choice at the moment.

Anyone selling Piranhas a tank full perhaps
02-04-2025 6:56 PM
Why stop there why not throw a hornets nest at them
02-04-2025 6:56 PM
Lol. Humble pie might be a popular dish in the near future.

Have used your email addresses and let Jamie and Eve know my thoughts on the matter!!!

I think a plague of locusts will be good for where they are.
