NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

AS OF 15TH APRIL MY DAYS AS A PRIVATE EBAY SELLER WILL STOP AFTER 19 YEARS.

I AM FED UP OF THE GREED OF EBAY AND I HOPE OTHER EBAY SELLERS DECIDE TO NO LONGER LET THE EBAY CONTROL FREAKS HAVE THIS MUCH CONTROL OVER PRIVATE SELLERS.

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

I hardly know where to begin, there is so much I could say.

I have just looked at Ebay's terms at Terms & Conditions | eBay.co.uk  and it essentially says "we can do exactly what we want and change it at any time without notification and charge what we want".

I have made a few dummy listings and played around with them:

Ebay state that for a parcel up to 1KG, the minimum postage fee will be £2.94 if both Royal Mail and Evri are available,  £2.98 for Evri only, and £4.27 for RM only.  When I looked at the listings as a customer would, the amounts were different and when I refreshed the pages they changed again.

When I logged into my account this morning everything was priced in Singapore dollars (I have never sent items outside of the UK)!

I will put my listings onto "Time Away" indefinitely and boycott Ebay as both buyer and seller until Ebay changes this ridiculous system (I am confident that it will - it may take months - because the drop in business will be immense).

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

I will still keep a eye on the private buyer  and private seller policies because I've been both for so many years. I'm ending my last few listings in the next few days as I have no intention of having to use SD.

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

My best and workable solation and it dont sound as daft as what you might think..

Read on Add your Bit,Have your Say!!

To list would be Totally free across the Field business and private.

"That's it no more worrying about tax affairs and you can get on with selling and your Life All done at a click of a sale.

All your tax/Revenue due on any transaction would automatically taken that's it.

All Documents are automatically sent to HMRC at the end of the tax year or Quarterly if you are VAT registered.

Would Make the best UK selling site there ever was run under UK law ( Not like eBay Law )

As with eBay now you have to provide all your details. So it make No difference at least you trust HMRC

( Not Like eBay They Keep moving the Goal Post ) as the government provides you with your National Insurance Number and you know its safe.

It will Be a Big Win,Win for the Government Instant Revenue.

Start Rolling back on how eBay Started as this CEO Does not want Private sellers or Small Business ,He also does not want Antiques, Collectables He also Dis likes Auctions and only wants New and as he has always said wants to make it into one big glossy Catalogue.

Has anybody sat down to explain to him the turn over and value/Revenue he will lose by doing this. Total Madness  - If there was ever a time for a New UK Based selling Platform Its Now!!

Like with most Big company's got too big for their boots and Controlling i.e " Like What you can see, What you can sell, How You sell it, How you Ship it , What you Should Charge, How Much ya gonna Pay us Before we show It!!The List Goes On.

So It Don't Sound as Daft As It might of Seemed at First...

Me for One I am In if they did..

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

As I see it 'FREE POST' Ha Ha No it isn't.. It means that either the Buyer
pays the rate or the Seller pays the rate which you determine on your
listing. That amount is added to the final selling fee i.e. what the item
sells for, plus the other 70p plus 4% and before you get the final amount in
your account. Ebay will have deducted that amount from your money So whether
the buyer pays it, which would be shown on your listing as postage costs and
added to what the Buyer Pays for the item, plus the postage cos.t Then that
amount will be deducted and paid to Ebay OR when the "buyer pays for the
item, if you have offered FREE POSTING that amount will be taken from the
money the buyer pays you ?? The more I read what I've just written.. it
seems like whoever pays it comes out of the Sellers money

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

So much of your post is what I can relate to. They must have made millions and millions from private buyers and sellers over the years. I can't help but believe that they are on a downward slippery slope. Plus with how private sellers and buyers feel so let down reaching 2 National papers it really isn't helping this platform promote themselves as reliable and trustworthy.

As a private seller and buyer it hits me either way. Definitely not free for me.

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

Absolutely right. I know it's a platform that wants and expects to make money but it's the making things policy and giving the take it or leave it choice that's so wrong on all levels.

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

me as well will be packing ebay in on the 15th. how can they say quicker delivery when only using royal mail 48 track when that service can take up to 5 days to get where it's going to. i use 24hr tracked royal mail , gets delivered next day , nine times out of ten and only have to wait 2 days for my payment. simply delivery will take up to 5 days + 2 days clearence which means waiting 7 days for your payment. not impressed.

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

It honestly is such a shambles. If I booked a RM collection for the next day it will be collected that day. If it was sent using 24hr tracked it would arrive the following day in most cases. Easy, seamless, and quick and being able to choose RM if I wanted which I do. I do not trust the whole SD.

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

i am fed up with people telling me what to do. if i want to hand write on my mailers which i've done for the past 11 years then i'll carry on doing so. a good pointer here is if you make your items over £750.00 as a buy it now or best offer you will not have to use simply delivery , that is the only way around it..

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

I just don't get it. It's not rocket science. Give private sellers 50 free listings per month and charge if they need more (noone should need more than that); charge a reasonable final value fee, say 8% (and don't take a precentage of shipping either) and let people post using what service they want (and have specified in the listing).

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

Getting rid of sellers fees was the worst thing they did. I didn't mind paying them because you could price things accordingly and you were able to use the carrier of your choice. It was so easy and transparent back then. BUT now with compulsory SD a seller can't choose that will be a buyers choice. Plus with BP which is a farce everything now is about as transparent as thick pea soup.

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

It's so frustrating that pure greed has wrecked this platform. Plus making it obvious that private sellers and buyers are not really what the CEO wants. Hopefully these thoughts that users have making 2 National Newspapers will do nothing to really attract the higher end users they want.

You are right it is greed. Someone told me that have shares in evri! Well that says so much. Let’s hope the national press have some impact, we live in hopes

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

What really got my back up is how they are just dismissing the very people that helped get them to where they are today who have used this platform for so many years. So much for loyalty. It obviously counted for nothing. I only hope they get what they honestly deserve because of their actions.

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

Plus in small print could put apart from your selling price the rest would be refunded. Great idea in principle but I can't see a buyer spending a initial 750 on a Signed cd.

My loyalties are divided on this. I hope ebay fails in the short term so the current management get kicked out and they realise the impact of their many selfish greedy decisions but I also want ebay to survive so it can go back to basics of just providing a platform that people want to use to buy and sell without being immensely frustrating. I'm going to be waiting on the sidelines buying and listing stuff elsewhere for now. I'll leave my existing listings to run but with RM as my only SD postage option not that I expect buyers to pay such high charges.
