NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

AS OF 15TH APRIL MY DAYS AS A PRIVATE EBAY SELLER WILL STOP AFTER 19 YEARS.

I AM FED UP OF THE GREED OF EBAY AND I HOPE OTHER EBAY SELLERS DECIDE TO NO LONGER LET THE EBAY CONTROL FREAKS HAVE THIS MUCH CONTROL OVER PRIVATE SELLERS.

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

I buy online postage on the RM site and it is often cheaper than the post office. Tracked LL is now £2.70 up to 1kg (was 750g), tracked SP to 2kg £3.45 (was £3.39)

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

I often talk to our regular postie and I do think the Flack posties get because of upper management isn't right. I used to be a postie years ago. My post meant to have said by buying online and sending a large letter by 48hr tracked cost me 2.70.

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

Yes that was sneaky

charging for something that cost you zero in the main

the excuse was to stop people overcharging for postage to save on final value fees

if that was really the reason they would have imposed limits on postage not inserted fees on postage

unfortunately it was just a money scam

and people like Etsy and others copied it

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

We made The Sun

But eBay users have slammed the change, describing it as “eBay’s most ridiculous move ever”.

Meanwhile, others have said: “Great marketing for Vin, I will be looking at moving my listings.”

Sellers have said they will need to travel further to drop items at courier points, which will make the process more complicated.

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

Thanks bud. We do our best as you probably know. The prices are set in stone on the RM website so saying up to 20% discount while being more expensive than booking it in online is at best disingenuous and obviously a rip off. Also only having 4 price points of 100g and below LL, small parcel, large parcel and 5kg to 20kg is a cash grab with extra items being included at exorbitant rates that make no sense except to make money for RM and eBay.

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

This site used to be great. I've been on it 19 years as a buyer/seller. However since the policy changes and amendments in Feb and the upcoming compulsory Simple Delivery which is far from simple I think if I'm lucky I've sold 3 or 4 items since early Feb. I only sell signed cd's from my own collection to make room for new ones. I've also sold the odd silver coin. I'm not a business but all these recent changes introduced have made me loathe how greedy the people who run it have become.

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

It has become a shambles on here now. I'm definitely going to find somewhere that will allow me the choice of using RM because I've never had any major postal problems and I prefer dealing with who I choose to use directly. I know things aren't great for posties at present but from a customer's point of view I'd always recommend RM.

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

Yep, I've decided to call time on it too. I've rolled with the punches on the recent changes (buyers protection and not being paid until 2 days after delivery) but simple delivery is the final nail in the coffin for me.

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

We do our best and thank you for your kind comments on behalf of my colleagues. You can deselect Evri in the postage options under simple postage options as I have done although this apparently makes postage more expensive. No idea why. eBay want a choice so you should too. I can take my parcel to work, book it in and have it to the customer quicker than the the post office. Sadly eBay can override my preferences if I read it correctly and decide on an Evri drop off if they choose. I have no idea where that is. My preferences are only preferences. It is not well thought through.

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

I want the choice of being able to deal with RM direct and if like it seems I can't do it here then I'll find somewhere else. On a bright note we have made it to the sun and it's not all great news for ebay -:

Users have also said the system makes it more difficult to choose to send items with the Royal Mail, which is their preferred courier.

Meanwhile, experts have previously told The Sun that the change risks forcing vulnerable and sellers to pay more to post items to their buyer.

I love the article from the Sun. I've just posted some of what it said.

Re: NO LONGER SELLING DUE TO SIMPLE DELIVERY

Not sure how they get to 20% cheaper as I get it to 28% more expensive for the buyer on a standard 250g large letter for a tracked service which is not required on a magazine, ( at least not the ones I am selling off)  on the odd occasion where a mag has gone missing !! buyer has been refunded and RM have refunded me as I always get proof of postage with no issues.

Unfortunately none of these posts will make the blind bit of difference to ebay.

How many complained when they took 10% of postage costs , did they change their minds, no not  until they introduced free postings.

We can rant and rave but unfortunately I doubt  FLEECE BAY will reverse their idiotic decision especially as they will be raking it in on the Buyer Protection farce and now postage. If not and I can not find a loophole then will just sell on the dedicated Magazine site.  Any lifeboats left ??

Maybe the sun article and the poll result will catch someone's attention and get them to look into this more.

Well we can hope that it might get their practices looked at especially as it's a article in a National paper.

ebay's usual stance with unpopular changes is to do nothing in the belief the anger will die away with time and there will always be new users, with no knowledge of previous systems, to replace those that leave. Not that there's much sign of the former at the moment and I can see new users being put off by the changes while existing buyers and sellers continue to head for the exit.
