AS OF 15TH APRIL MY DAYS AS A PRIVATE EBAY SELLER WILL STOP AFTER 19 YEARS.
I AM FED UP OF THE GREED OF EBAY AND I HOPE OTHER EBAY SELLERS DECIDE TO NO LONGER LET THE EBAY CONTROL FREAKS HAVE THIS MUCH CONTROL OVER PRIVATE SELLERS.

That's what one would suppose, but no - according to eBay Customer Services (Listings Dept.) low cost means "under £10", regardless of the bulkiness or otherwise of the item.

It is a shame that ebay have lost the plot regarding private sellers and buyers. I hope you manage to help your friend out because don't have a clue about how many users their make more money actions are affecting.

There seems to be a lot of conflicting information here at the moment!
Either contributors are being disingenuous, misinformed (by whom?) or mislead.
Does ebay really know - are reps guessing?
Why not give links to detailed exceptions within the email and/or site?

Unfortunately most of those alternatives are overseas marketplaces and aimed mainly at business sellers.
They are of no use to most of the eBay private sellers of low value 1-off items.
I am presently putting most of my items on Gumtree - no fees, local collection with cash being the norm but posting can be done.
I have noticed that item viewings is increasing quite rapidly since Feb, possibly due to eBay BPF.

The problem is they aren't big on transparency. When they launched BPF they were putting different information in different areas of the site, but I don't think we ever found one place that had everything
As for exceptions regarding Simple Delivery the safest answer is that nobody probably knows yet.
Even the ad for Simple Delivery is as clear as mud when they refer to exemptions. Off memory they were saying refer to courier exemption lists.

The best option a long term ebay user suggested to me is preloved

They really did run the platform into the ground, but this descion is beyond stupid. They could have been an Amazon contender, but now they'll soon to be the Myspace of online retail.

I'll have a look at that already have an account looking for pets

It seems great for private sellers if items aren't to high a value.
31-03-2025 4:27 PM
And that is only if they are lucky at the rate they are going.
31-03-2025 4:31 PM
I don't think they are thinking. Their to busy looking through pound sign and dollar sign spectacles.

Thanks was already a member so have updated for a year for £15 worth a try 👍

All we can and should do is go by the ebay notifications regarding policy changes and alterations which so far have only reinforced my decision to give up as a ebay private seller.
31-03-2025 4:40 PM
I'm glad you found it useful. These recent policy changes and amendments have lost me more than that as a private seller over the last few months. Plus the busier it gets the better it will get.

Tried Preloved but gave up. I couldn't filter searches and all I got was dozens of pages of pets for sale. Of no interest to me at all.

It might be worth keeping a eye on it because it does seem a good option for private sellers especially if more use it.

I do wish you good luck with trying to grow your business on here. The biggest shame though is that they seem to have lost the plot regarding private sellers.

Probably best to stop before April 15th. Checkthe small print.
Simple Delivery will apply to new eligible listings by private sellers in the UK, and from 7 April to any existing listings that are eligible. If you selected buyer-paid postage, this will stay the same when your listings are updated. If you’re covering the costs, they’ll be deducted from your sales.
So what this means, I think, is even if you have opted not to use Simple Delivery, for any listings you do which end after April 7th, Ebay will automatically update to Simple Delivery anyway. So, if you have stuff to sell and don't wish to use Simple Delivery, make sure it is sold by April 6th.

Thanks for confirming what I was starting to realise. Luckily I've only got 4 listings to remove if none of them sell by late in the day on the 5th.
