Listing fees

Am I correct in thinking that with private sellers, listings can renew each month without the listing fee applying, but for business sellers, the listing fee applies?
Thanks,
Jeff

Listing fees

Private sellers receive 300 free listings, there's  no listing / selling fees,  per month.  If the listings automatically relist they are not counted in the next month's quota, so again,  exempt from a listing fee.

Any listings which exceed that monthly 300 limit are subject to a 35p non refundable listing fee.

Yes, that is correct.

Listing fees

Yes, private sellers get 300 new listings for free each month plus unlimited renewals every month indefinitely. But business sellers pay for every listing, either as part of a shop subscription or on a per listing basis, and also pay the listing fee over and over again every month when each listing renews.

So steady inventory growth is actively encouraged by ebay for private sellers but any growth whatsoever by business sellers is discouraged and stifled. Seems mad and the wrong way round but ebay are well known for squeezing every last drop from business sellers.

Listing fees

Thanks everyone, and @rainbowtrax, it does seem strange.

I spent last year focussing on eBay to build up my listings, then with the recent changes they made I decided to change to a business account. It's my fault for not thoroughly checking things out, I suppose, but with recurring listing fees, the business account just isn't viable.

Of course "the system won't allow" business accounts to be changed back to private ones. So there's a year's work down the pan.

I don't know if I can be bothered doing it again. I had around 2,500 listings, but eBay doesn't seem to have the traffic of other sites.

Listing fees

I’ve been a business since 2013 but it’s now failing thanks to eBay. This time last year was making £300-400 per month now it’s £30 per month. They’re taking too much off me.
only worked from home due to mum having dementia she passed last year.
whilst eBay is failing two other places for me are on the rise slightly.

Listing fees

I've never understood why different categories have different fees.  And therefore pay higher postage fees as well.  AND anyone listing in those categories and paying promotion fees - especially at the usual suggested percentages of 9-12%, madness!!!

Nowt like a level playing field, and eBay is nowt like a level playing field.
