Introducing automated positive feedback... April 2025

Introducing automated positive feedback

The great service you provide to your customers deserves to be recognised. This is why we are excited to introduce automated positive feedback.

Starting late April, automated positive feedback will be added to your feedback profile 7 days after tracking confirms successful delivery, provided the following criteria are met:

  • Tracking shows the item was delivered on time
  • The buyer hasn’t left feedback yet
  • The buyer hasn't reported an issue or opened a return on their order

There’s lots of benefits of automated feedback too, including the fact it contributes to your feedback score and improves your positive rating percentage. When you receive the feedback it’ll display the message on your page, “Order completed successfully - tracked and on time”, offering reassurance to prospective buyers that you offer great service.

Something new to discuss...?! 😄

Re: Introducing automated positive feedback... April 2025

I read right through the thread to see what the Automated FB looked like, has anyone actually received any yet?

I ask because on the other site I use some sellers have imported their FB and "exciting" it isn't.

All that they get is the statement "This FB was officially imported from another on-line marketplace" and an increased FB number.

Personally I think it's a bit of a double edged sword, it proves that the seller has made sales elsewhere.   But it also makes me wonder why nobody has left them any FB on that site.

Re: Introducing automated positive feedback... April 2025

It's finally activated for me. I noticed my feedback score jumped up by 2 but there was only one new bit of feedback. There's now a counter for the number of automatic feedbacks received and a tick box to display auto feedback. Item was sold on the 25th April and received on the 1st May

Re: Introducing automated positive feedback... April 2025

Buyers have a chance to leave feedback and if they don't that's on the buyer.

It's not like the feedback is false is it? The item will be tracked as delivered and if the buyer had an issue with the item you can rest assured they would have a grumble straight away.

Sellers metrics are being destroyed by all the silly INR cases which are still held against us even if the case if proven in your favour or if the buyer decides to quickly close the case etc so it's good to finally even up the feedback which we're only due anyway!

Approx 10-15% of people leave a good comment yet about 70%-95% will jump on leaving you a negative with the slightest problem.

In my opinion this is a great move... Well done eBay you finally made a good change!

Re: Introducing automated positive feedback... April 2025

They haven't done in 35 years so why would they start that now?

It's free to have negative feedback removed if you qualify.

There's no point though because you'll always get NEGs, some buyers do it just for fun

Re: Introducing automated positive feedback... April 2025

I got my first auto feedback a few days ago but nothing since. They say that you'll get automatic feedback 7 days after delivery (via tracked service) but I've got 4 items that were delivered as far back as the 2nd May without feedback, that's 12 days not including today.

I've had many occasions buying things on ebay where I have been mildly unhappy with a seller. Maybe the condition is worse than described or maybe it got beat around a bit because it was packed poorly but not considered it worth contacting the seller so in those scenarios I just tend to leave no feedback. I wouldn't want them to get auto-positive feedback but I am not mean enough to raise a return case or leave a neutral/negative.

So auto positive feedback could be false as ebay have no idea if a buyer feels they deserved a positive (but couldn't be bothered to leave it), a neutral (but was too kind to leave it) or even a negative (but was either too kind or worried about retaliation or getting into an unpleasant message exchange to leave it).

The only reason ebay are doing this is to try and placate those who are angry about recent changes.

Re: Introducing automated positive feedback... April 2025

so leave feedback then and get your point across.

Neutral feedbacks are harmless

I think many people including me are too polite to do that.

Best not to worry about it then.

If you don't wish to leave feedback of any sort then the seller deserves the positive review.

No they don't that's my point.

They may have done a bad job.

Re: Introducing automated positive feedback... April 2025

So if they've done a bad job leave feedback explaining so,  that's the whole point of feedback.

If you don't want to or your scared to then that's not the sellers fault.

It's kind of a pointless debate if you can't be bothered to leave feedback.

It's the buyer's choice to leave feedback or not - Ebay should respect that.

It's not about being bothered I always leave positive feedback to sellers that do a good job.

I put more thought into those I don't choose to leave feedback for.

100% of the feedback I don't leave is neutral or negative.

So it cannot be assumed that no feedback means the buyer is happy.

Re: Introducing automated positive feedback... April 2025

Well it's happening so no point pondering over it, leave feedback if you want.

If you don't then tough luck sellers will be getting positive feedback due tot he fact you couldn't be bothered to leave it 🙂

It will be another broken thing about ebay. Its not about being bothered it's about deciding not to give feedback there is a difference.

Ebay don't seem to respect anyone's wishes anymore in their greedy mission to maximise profits.

Myself and many many other sellers wouldn't consider this as a "broken", it's one of the best things to happen in a long time. As a seller too many negative things are stacked against you so this is 1 thing that actually helps.

It's not a broken thing at all , it's a good thing for sellers and even if it upsets you that much you can still over ride the auto feedback by leaving your own personal neutral or negative so it's actually better than it was before .

Re: Introducing automated positive feedback... April 2025

Yes, I also find there are times when, for various reasons, I would rather not leave any feedback. It's not often, but just occasionally I'll be in two minds about a minor issue, and decide I'd prefer not to comment either way.

However, even though I don't really like eBay leaving positive feedback on my behalf - it feels like yet more 'auto-interfering', at least it is a bland, 'Order completed successfully – tracked and on time' comment, rather than... 'The buyer was thrilled to bits with this lovely item & will definitely purchase from you again!'

And we do have the option to overwrite.

My main concern is that buyers will take the line of least resistance, and not bother to overwrite the auto-feedback. Those who want to leave negative will certainly do so, but it will be a shame if it adds to the decline in 'real' positive feedback.

Re: Introducing automated positive feedback... April 2025

If buyers can't be bothered to leave feedback then they shouldn't moan about the " decline in 'real' positive feedback. " being a problem.

At the end of the day the buyers get the opportunity to have their say and if they can't be bothered then products/service was either fine or they just can't be bothered to leave feedback.

We've been on ebay for 20+ years and I can tell you now buyers certainly let you know when they have an issue. The slightest thing these days and the buyers head for the NEG button.

Buyers also lie and use extortion constantly in feedback so it's great that sellers are finally getting a little help.

Re: Introducing automated positive feedback... April 2025

I almost always leave feedback - usually positive, rarely neutral/negative, but very occasionally I'd rather say nothing. It's not a case of 'can't be bothered' - some situations can leave you very undecided, or concerned about the response from the seller.

I think very carefully about feedback, and make a point of commenting on good packaging, prompt dispatch, & if a seller has been helpful etc. I am certainly not part of the decline in positive feedback!

That's precisely how I feel about this.
