How do I post oversize parcel on simple delivery

I want to sell a poster that is over 65 cms in length but simple delivery is only allowing medium size parcel at 61 cms.

I've contact eBay twice and been told 2 different things .One adviser said to change courier from royal mail to DHL however on my settings even though DHL logo is shown there is no edit or option button for me to choose DHL. So I contacted eBay again and was told I could send poster simple delivery at medium parcel size as eBay have an agreement with post office that they will accept parcel even if over sized..is this correct, I find it difficult to believe post office will accept a parcel at medium parcel rates if it's over medium size dimensions..can someone advise how to post a large poster please with tracking

I wouldn't risk using the wrong postage.   Parcels are refused or buyers asked to pay more postage.    You can actually opt out of SD for oversize items.   During the listing process click on the box under the heading Package Size.   At the very bottom of the pop-up you'll see Oversized.  Select that then you will be able to buy your own postage.

Re: How do I post oversize parcel on simple delivery

Items such as these I would send with Evri as they will accept up to 120 cm even through the Ebay medium parcel size limit states 61 cm.  I always exclude Royal Mail on my listings as Evri parcel shops are generally far more convenient to use than Post Offices.   That said, I had an item listed that I stated as medium parcel even though it was closer to 80 cm,  as normal I excluded Royal Mail, however the item sold to someone in the US via the Global Shipping Programme (GSP).  What I didn't realise when listing, is that GSP orders only seem to get sent to the Ebay UK distribution hub by Royal Mail and I was provided a RM QR code for the Post Office, this firstly annoyed me as I don't like Post Offices but second concerned me because the parcel exceeded my understanding of Royal Mail's published parcel sizes.  But when I got to the Post Office it was scanned and accepted with no question.

My interpretation of this was that orders made through Ebay appear to be honoured by Royal Mail/Post Office despite the dimensions not meeting the Royal Mail parcel spec - I think that the Ebay/Royal Mail contract clearly allows for more flexibility than Royal Mail/Post Office offer their own customers, this is both confusing as much as it might be useful.  I'd still recommend opting for Evri as 65 cm is well below their 120 cm maximum.

Re: How do I post oversize parcel on simple delivery

I had a combined order on another site which i have never done before and it was obviously a lot larger than the individual items both in weight and size.  (the buyer was also new to doing this), i tried looking up the proper way to do it and just like this site, instructions confusing.  The label was actually only for a medium normal size parcel.  Buyer said he would be happy to pay any difference so took it into local PO (very nice and helpful people) and they just checked the weight when i explained the problem and they said it did not matter because the label was marked up Marketplace Seller so that if anything extra to pay would be sorted out between RM, V and/or the buyer.  Should be delivered tomorrow so will be interesting to see what happens.  I have always shied away from combining items but no choice there.

Ebay/Royal Mail contract!  makes you wonder who bought royal mail. and why ebay dont allow other couriers to post. maybe they dont want to share there profits with ebay.

Yes you're correct
the latest iteration on my page ! opts out of simple delivery .. to book an oversized item
then dissapears on another item booking  option.. Total Pant's experience with ebay again ...
now my large parcels are collection only .. rendering them almost unsaleable ..
Shockingly Bad Business Plan from Ebay ..

Re: How do I post oversize parcel on simple delivery

I think I have a solution to why the Oversize option is not appearing when drafting a listing. If you set the price to high I do £150 the oversize option appears, select it and then reduce the price to you want. With the oversize option you can select your own postage carrier and price

Re: How do I post oversize parcel on simple delivery

Thanks I will try that , however when eBay advised me to do this before
setting price at £750 before then reducing it afterwards the postage
options automatically set back to before , very frustrating !!

There's a whole discussion here on how to post something that's bigger than a medium parcel....on this thread:
