And also when it says buy postage label does she need to or can she take it to the post office and buy postage there
Thankyou

Buyers choosing postage is due to eBay's new "Simple delivery". Details here:
https://www.ebay.co.uk/sellercentre/postage/simple-delivery?mkevt=1&mkpid=2&emsid=0&mkcid=8&bu=43952...
You can opt out of it during the listing process. Look for the postage options menu icon on the right of the postage section.
She can buy her own postage if she opts out of SD. She just has to remember to add the tracking number and mark dispatched manually via the dropdown actions arrow for the item on her orders page.

She can take it to the Post Office and purchase a label there. make sure she gets a proof of postage.
I'm not sure why it is showing a higher postage as the listings are for RM. Evri charge a surcharge for some areas although it is more than £4.85 for a small parcel.
If you click on the order number, it will give you a break down of funds received and Ebay fees. If it says £4.85 charged for postage, you may have to call CS and ask why.

Ah, the dreaded SD. I don't understand though that the postage on most of the listings states £3.75 so surely this should be honoured?

Hi yes it has taken the £4.85

If the buyer chooses a higher postage I assume they have to pay for it so I suppose in that sense it's not an issue. The problem might be the choice of courier.
She won't be able to buy her own postage for this transaction though without cancelling the whole thing and relisting without SD.

But it has taken £4.85 off my mum and they only paid £3.75

Call CS and ask them to explain.
It would be great if you got back to us with the answer as SD is relatively new.

Either we're missing something (wouldn't be the first time in my case!) or ebay have slipped up. Use the link cobweb has given earlier to contact ebay and ask.

Like has been said before SD is the buyers choice so i would honour that choice.
Unfortunately it is the future of Postage for private sellers, but i would add if the buyer is happy paying it why not.

I will do I will definitely let you know after I finish work so basically I did custom postage at £3.75 cause the parcel is very small but the buyer picked the £4.85 choice leaving me at a £1.10 loss could I have ignored the buy postage and took it to the post office myself and bought the postage there or would eBay have said the sale was not completed
26-02-2025 11:53 AM
But buyer pays Ebay for SD so that should not be charged to the seller.

If the buyer paid for Simple Delivery, you would not receive any money for the postage and would be sent a label by Ebay.

I would like to show you the breakdown of the invoice but it will not let me
26-02-2025 11:57 AM
Best to just discuss it with CS.

Will do thankyou

Is that an option though where I can ignore the buy postage and just go to the post office myself for my mum and buy it over the counter . Would that still be a completed sale in eBay’s eyes

Yes, usually, if Simple Delivery hasn't complicated it.
This is all new to us so we don't know a lot of the answers yet.
As @**peaseblossom** says, at the moment you can opt out of SD and send it yourself, either at the PO or by using Ebays online labels.
See if CS say if you have been signed up for SD.
