It feels unfair that eBay includes postage costs when calculating Final Value Fees. Here's an example: I charged £8.99 for overseas tracked postage (small letter size) and sold the item for £6.99. eBay's total fees came to £4.44, leaving me with £11.54.
The Post Office charges £7.99 for shipping a small letter, and I paid £1.95 to my supplier for the 925 Silver UV hoops. Altogether, my total cost is £14.38. If I ship the item, I'll lose £2.84 (£14.38 - £11.54).
These fees are especially frustrating when it comes to the Final Value Fee (£0.77) for items marked as "not as described." Many buyers use this reason to avoid paying return postage, even when the issue is their fault.
Here’s the breakdown of fees:
It's frustrating how these fees add up, making it nearly impossible to cover costs or make a profit.

EBay (and Amazon) a long time ago used to not include postage costs when calculating FVF.
you know what happened?
everyone sold everything for a £0.01 with huge amounts of postage.
so that’s the reason they include postage. There’s always a reason you can’t have nice things….

What do you expect? It's a small value item posted overseas. I don't order cheeseburgers from McDonald's in New York to me in UK because they will be expensive. Just don't sell them overseas if you are losing money.
