Extra verification for payouts

  Hello all,


I want to share on of the worst experience with ebay customer service and make you aware .
Last week I have just changed my payout account to an business card.

e-Bay wasn't able to verify the bank which is TIDE and an red flag pop up through my Seller Dashboard .
I had decided to call customer service(about 3 times in a week ) and I have told them the issue and they had told me to ignore the red flag and only to wait for the penny test to come into account and tol be deducted after.
One week had passed and still that penny wasn't deducted .
I had decided to call them once again today and someone told me ,,Ohhh you know,you should provide extra information ,like an bank statement''.

I am just wondering why I haven't been told from 1st call and cut this waiting time ,now I am ending with plenty outstanding orders and no payouts available as apparently it takes up to 5 days for that bank statement to be verified.

Did any of you had this issue before or I am the only one stupid guy on the platform?

QUICK UPDATE: @4_bathrooms @eastern-lights @lucy_farmer @theelench 

I have get the approval to use TIDE for payouts in approx 24 hours without any issue.

Now I got another headache as I have to gave to tide another 300 proofs as payment went in pending...

What an headache, as I had provided already hundreds proofs when I had signed up.

Hi, For the last 4 weeks I have had  many a conversation with customer service agents I have even had a phone call too, basically Ebay now want me to verify who I am after 19.5 years of holding an account with them and until I do they will withhold the money that is rightfully mine,  I have submitted the various documents they have asked for and  each time told give it 24/48 and all will be ok, yet here I am asking if anyone else is having the same issues. They want photo ID which I keep telling them I don't  have one guy even told me I would have to renew my passport and send in a copy, how dare he. 

Each person I speak to tells me what to send, which I do, then I'm told it will be sent to the "back office"  to be sorted!

Is anyone else having similar or the same issues, I have now removed all the items I had listed and quite frankly would like to close the account but apparently I can't as I have money owing me!!

Sounds like total incompetence or something else. I sent verification documents, including photos of driving licence, on 27 March and got the message "Done" . Ebay have now requested the same information four more times, the last being on 9 April so I have supplied this information FIVE times. I have phone customer service three times and have exchange four messages but still my pay outs are on hold subject to verification. Is this total incompetence or something else.

Unfortunately they *are* after photo ID. ☹️

Any other stuff they tell you to send in (something different every time?) won't do the job.

(ebay CS are well known for making stuff up when they don't know the real answer to a problem or question)

Another regular on here (I think @1956glyn ?) had to renew a passport simply for verification reasons.

(I always thought it was silly, as nobody on the internet knows what anybody else actually *looks* like! but I think it's something to do with photo ID often being govt. issued stuff thats quite hard to fake....)

Yes it was me.    I renewed my passport as it was so much hassle trying to prove identification without one.

To be honest it was well worth doing it ....it was back within 10 days

Recently (amongst other things) i had to take myself and my passport to a firm of Solicitors that i personally had not used before and they had to photocopy my passport and declare on the copy that it was actually me.

I think its becoming more and more necessary to have a passport or photo driving licence id if only for identification purposes nowadays.   Saves so much hassle.      Yes it is annoying.

Is your licence a photo id one?    Most places will not accept it if it is not 😞

Do Ebay accept UK voter identity cards? They are free to get, I understand.

Hi, Yes, a credit card size plastic licence with a photo. eBay ask for a
copy of both the front and the back. About the only thing this confirms is
my name, address and date of birth since eBay have no idea what I look like
unless they have access to other information which would be over the top.

Nope they are usually not accepted most places.

In my opinion they are only good for buying alcohol etc.    My son who is 34 has one for that purpose when on a night out because he looks about 20 🙂

I'm having issues with ebay after being with them for over 19 years. I keep getting messages to say I have to verify my account with photo ID (which I don't have) they are withholding my money until I provide details. I have sent various documents with my name , address etc and still keep getting messages, talking online chat is a waste of time too. Very frustrating and getting nowhere it's been over 5 weeks now.

They really *do* want photo ID 🙁  Don't waste your time trying to find every other type of document CS might *say* will be fine......... it won't.

I think you are eventually going to have to get some.

Has this too been changed then?

Previously it's been said on here that there are other non-photo documents that are acceptable.  Like an old paper drivers licence or a couple of recent utility bills.

Also that the best way to get them accepted was to ring CS early in the morning in the hope of getting through to Ireland.

Quite agree, ebay can't just keep your money because you can't comply with their demands.  If you close the account they should tell you when they will close it, allowing time for any return and refund requests.  If there are none then they should pay you your money on the date they told you, or at least send it to your bank.

So far as Ebays concerned Glyn just gave them a copy of his photo driving licence which satisfied them.

It has been said by a certain Ebay employee that other forms of id will also be acceptable to Ebay in the past.   Nowadays reading the boards this does not appear to be the case.

I renewed my passport because banks and other official institutions etc will only accept a photo driving licence or current passport and no other form of id.  I have even noticed recently that if we purchase something rather expensive online from a reputable company they too insist on seeing a photo driving licence or passport on delivery 😞

I remember @1956glyn  saying that she had got a passport to get hold of photo I.D .  But from what I remember it was because she decided it was easier to renew the passport than go through all the extra hassle of verification without photo I.D.

But she had a passport to renew, I still think there are other documents that can be used by sellers that don't have either a driving licence or a passport.

Hopefully she will be along to clarify things.

Yes i did have a passport to renew and it came back within 10 days.    Brand new passports if i remember can take a couple of weeks longer.

The noose tightens at every opportunity, I was reading the other day that driving licences are soon to be made digital so presumably soon we'll be required to have a mobile to carry them with us  😠
