Evri via packlink wrongly charged

After years of no problems i am being charged £3.18 frequently for items well under 1kg with claims they are at least 1240g which is wrong as i have started double checking on checked scales.

Will no longer use Evri as it means i'm selling at a loss.

The trackng number doesn't even work when using the links to question.

I have had the same problem. Just seen that I've got two debits from my ebay account for parcels sent via Evri with labels purchased off ebay. 

If Packlink wrongly charge every seller on ebay £3.18 for underpaid items just once a year, that adds up to a lot of money fraudulently acquired.

There is never a problem when Evri is booked direct but loads of people report a problem when booked via packlink.  So it must be packlink doing it.

Just book directly with Evri instead.

Good thinking and I've done as you suggest.  Everyone who has been incorrectly double charged should do likewise, even if you have had the overpayment refunded.  I bet there's a computer at the bottom of all this.

This is exactly what I was warning people about with eBay integrating their postage solutions further into their platform.

The problem isnt with Evri, since everytime i send something with Evri (NOT with eBay Packlink)  there are no issues with weight or size.

It is Packlink - the broker eBay uses, who are based in Spain! - that is pulling a fast one, and since they are not UK based, you can't take them to small claims court.

However, given that the postage services are now so baked into eBay that it is hard to distinguish who is providing the service, you probably have suitable recourse options against eBay themselves. Prove the item was within dimensions, and if eBay don't do anything to refund you, send a formal letter to their business address outlining further steps if the balance isn't paid. Their address is in the T&Cs page somewhere.

Oh, and whatever you do, DO NOT USE EBAY DELIVERY SERVICES FOR ANY ITEMS WITH THE EXCEPTION OF ROYAL MAIL AND PARCELFORCE. EVERY OTHER OPTION IS PACKLINK PROVIDED AND THEY WILL JUST DIB THEIR FILTHY HANDS INTO YOUR BALANCE (IF YOU HAVE ANY) OR YOUR BANK ACCOUNT.

I REPEAT,  DO NOT USE EBAY POSTAGE FOR ANYTHING UNLESS YOU ARE USING THE ROYAL MAIL!!!

If you want to use a cheaper broker, Parcel2Go are also fine. Just don't use eBay postage.

As I've pointed out before the tightness of integration being enough they cant keep pointing at each other has been used to variable success in civil courts regards Packlink and EVRI, see the Consumer Action Group CAG forums.

I challenged it. They asked me if I had photographs of the parcel on the scales. I said, 'no, do you'? Of course they don't. And this was their rather interesting reply. 

We have reviewed the communication issued by Evri, and in fact, we found an error in the transfer of the reported data. Since the charge was issued automatically by our system with the incorrect information, it was not possible for us to stop the charge before it was issued. I confirm that today 02-12-2024, we proceed to accept the dispute. The refund will be credited to your eBay Funds within the next 5-7 business days.

Anyone honestly overcharged should challenge Packlink for sure.

I genuinely am starting to think this is more akin to organised crime. Looks like Spain has revived its Costa-del-Crime utility.

Reminds me of the time I was on a laptop free upgrade program (laptop4life) run by Fujitsu, they claimed my laptop arrived showing signs of 'above average damage and a very scratched screen - so sadly we will be terminating your participation in this upgrade program permanently'. The laptop was returned in the original box, inside another box, by UPS which they chose. They backed down the *second* I sent a video of it working and being packed up, looking mint, and 'as a gesture of goodwill' gave me a £2500 Fujitsu workstation laptop to which I wouldn't otherwise have been entitled. I never did bother to 'participate' again and to be honest the laptop was so good it was perfectly usable until last year. It was pay-off vs. risk of them pulling the same trick. I suspect that no-one on the scheme is left doing it now.

I had a similar thing with AEG batteries, 'free batteries for life'. Every year you sent back your power tool batteries, no questions asked, for new ones. To be fair they always just sent new ones by return, no arguments ever. Then one year they said the scheme was ending and offered £150 cash or a '£350' 24v Milwaukee hammer drill. Took the bait. I wonder where I would have stood legally if I'd put my foot down?

These companies rely a lot on consumer apathy.  Too much trouble to complain, just move on.  But it's the consumer being fleeced for whatever and the companies laughing all the way to the bank.  I make a point of always pulling companies that don't fill the brief, hopefully to protect others from the same issues.

But Packlink do blame EVRi when they over charge.

Its becuse packlink charge  their fee and try to get a cheaper price off evri. Always always always put the full weight allowed as ur weight (1kg, even if its 50g) because if u say 50g and its 52g, evri will misband it back to packlink.
